Some Knight Models Star Wars minis
« on: November 23, 2011, 06:06:17 PM »
Here we have all of the Knight Models 30mm Star Wars miniatures I've painted so far. I've been a Star Wars fan since I was seven years old. This means if a new Star Wars thing comes out I will at least give it a look. When I saw a new company was making metal Star Wars minis I just had to have them. Then I saw the price. Eeek! I ended up buying just one to start with, Darth Vader. I figured if Darth wasn't good I'd never have to buy another. Well Darth turned out to be a big pain, and I almost gave up on the idea, but I just had to give it one more try. That's when I picked up the Han Solo. What a great miniature. From there I've picked up the ones you see here, one at a time. I made a deal with myself that I couldn't buy another Knight Model unless I'd finished painting the last one. This way I wouldn't get burned out on a project and still have a bunch of expensive lumps of lead sitting there making fun of me. I have enough of that as it is.

So here we have Han and Chewbacca. I assembled Chewy without C-3PO on his back. I refuse to have a miniature of C-3PO finished before I have an R2-D2. A man must have standards.

Next we have Darth Vader and Luke. Darth was a pain. His head didn't want to sit right for me and his hand caused me no end of grief. Luke was a bit easier. Still no picnic though.

Here we have Leia Organa. She was rather fun to paint. Not a very good photo I'm afraid.

And finally we have Anakin Skywalker. For a guy holding a light sabre he was a breeze. I replace all the soft metal blades with brass rods. Many of the light sabre holders have separate hands that make modification difficult. Anakin's hand was molded into the body.

One last note. I used my Tatooine Cantina set for a background. This is the first terrain project I even did. I'm still proud of it, but it doesn't hold up as well to closer scrutiny. I need to spruce up the old girl.

I've debated grabbing  couple of these for a while. Excellent treatments. :) Your Cantina looks good! If you weather it a bit like your bases you'll get less of a 'jump' between the two.

Star Wars, those figures take me back.
Fine painting.
Really like Vader and Luke.
Black for me is hard to get right, yours are very well done.

Thank you for the nice comments. I wish my photography skills were a lot better. Han looks so much better in person then he does in this picture. I think it's past time to invest in a better lens and some lighting equipment.
All very nice, but Chewie steals the show!!
I'm pretty darn happy with him too. So glad the darn C-3PO backpack was a separate piece.

Great work! I like the approach as well. I thought of doing that when purchasing Hinchliffe Late Byzantines......back in 1978.......it didn't work  :D

Great work, these are just amazing!

I wish I could see well enough to paint these, they are such good figures.

Have to agree with supervike that Chewie is a standout, but, as you say yourself, the photos may not be doing them all justice.

I like what can seen of the cantina as well.
Part of me wishes that you had not shown that, as I have always had a hankering to build a Mos Eisley scenery project, and now you have raised that thought's ugly head again!

It took a whole lot longer then I expected it to, but I have some more pictures.

Shaak Ti

The shiny bases on Ki-Adi-Mundi and Shaak Ti are the result of a bad can of Dull-Coat.
