Good places to commission terrain?
« on: August 02, 2009, 07:10:46 AM »
Ok, guys.

Does what it says on the tin....

I am going to be needing some fairly nice terrain to demo the new miniatures line I'm working on, and I unfortunately have limited "Terrain-Fu". Can anyone recommend custom terrain builders they've had good experiences with in terms of price and finished product? Does anyone here do commissions?

Would appreciate any leads, suggestions, etc.

This would be "pulp" style terrain I'm looking for. Specifically for my Shanghai, 1930 range.

Thanks very much,

Doc

Beautiful work James.
I've long admired your model terrain - but sadly, Samurai don't really do it for me...

But interested to learn that you work in other genres / periods / geographies too...

Look forward to seeing much more of your work here on LAF  :)

Seconded!

Your stuff is very inspirational. :)

Doc,

Try TM terrain. They built my Victorian London buildings.

I've bought a few pieces off Grimm and I have specially commissioned him for others. Small or large pieces don't matter. And he's easy to work with.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I really appreciate them. All of the sources you mentioned do beautiful work - I'm particularly pleased to hear that Grimm does commissions, as I've always been extremely impressed by his work, but it's going to be hard trying to figure out how to go with just the same. I haven't seen a website or a recommendation made in this thread yet that hasn't completely impressed me!

The idea would be to get "Club Lao" the Shanghai nightclub, made, as well as at least one other piece, so that they can be used with sets like .45 Adventures. After I figure out what I'm going to need, I'll start making some inquiries.

Thank you again, much appreciated!

-Alex
