I found a thesaurus...

admirable
brilliant
distinguished
exceptional
exquisite
fantastic
glorious
gorgeous
grand
great
heroic
impressive
magnificent
marvellous
outstanding
remarkable
sublime
superb

And of course...splendid!

I was sorely tempted by flats at one stage and rather regret pursuing that path having seen your wonderful units. That last cavalry regiment is fantastic. What is extraordinary is that while two-dimensional they have so much more "life" and energy compared to most round 3D figures.

yes, they do come across in just that way. Although the better '3D' figures can have these qualities too I'd say, even going back to such as Gilder-era Hinchliffe.
Maybe as they're almost 'drawn' rather than sculpted, and are perhaps not prone to quite the same casting demands as fully 'round' figures, this degree of animation, and schooled draughtmanship, was more readily achievable with flats back in the day ...?  dunno.

anyway: always been entranced by them - from Prince August home-casting (semi-flats I think actually?) to photos of Tony Bath's collection.

I have added 5 more units to my Zinnfiguren armies. Four of the units were secondhand painted figures I bought from Berliner Zinnfiguren a few weeks ago when they had a sale.

The 5th unit I have painted used Kieler Austrian Dragoons as the Saxon Prinz Karl Chevauxlegers.

The Berliner Zinnfiguren figures have been used to add two more Infantry units. These are the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Prinz Moritz 22nd Infantry Regiment.

Two further units are the 12th Portugal Cuirassier Regiment. These are Herbu figures are particularly nice and full of motion.

The painting of these chaps is rather nice as seen in the detailing on the saddle cloth.

Next up are a couple of guns and once these are done I think I will have enough for a small game.

I had my first game using my Zinnfiguren this morning. The Combat at Zinnberg was played using the DBSYW supplementary rules for DBN.

The game is a simple affair with the Prussians attacking the Austro- Imperialists.

I have now added some Prussian artillery to the collection.

The figures are a mixture of Kieler and Scholtz. The full round gun is from Eagle miniatures.

My latest SYW unit. I got these as job lot of part painted figures on ebay and decided to finish them off.

They are French figures however I have painted them up as an Imaginations unit. I just need to decide on the Regimental name.
