I've been working on a Battle of Kings Mountain project for a bit now. I've decided to mount my figures on thin, metal 2 x 3 inch stands with 3 or 4 figures per stand. I made each stand a mini diorama, so that I can seemlessly rearrange stands in different places and still keep the overall effect of mountain/forest combat.
Most of the figures are my Kings Mountain Over Mountain Men, which all have seprerate heads. This allows an almost endless variety of poses. There are 16 body sculpts and over 250 different heads available. The figures were commissioned by me especially for this project. However, they were sculpted to match Galloping Major and Redoubt for use in Muskets and Tomahawks.
Anyway, here are some pix of the completed stands. A sharp eye will pick out a few Dixons in there. The forest scatter/floor is my own receipe and I am really pleased with the overall look. The boulder are either rocks or plaster castings. The dead trees are sagebrush pieces from Scenic Express. I've got another dozen or so stands to finish and then I'll begin making the battlefield.
Comments always welcome.
An overhead view of the terrain:
here are a few WIP pix just to show you how they started out.
I have a website that is woefully out of date. With any luck I'll have things updated soon. I am waiting for a professional painter to finish up samples of the Continentals and Dismounted Dragoons.
Besides the Over Mt Men, there are 31 poses of Highlanders in the correct uniform for the Southern Theater of the AWI.
