I've had a few of these over the past day or so but I'm assuming that this is known already, just thought I'd give a heads up just in case :)
cheers
James

Me too. No idea what's going on, maybe the provider is making some maintanence.
-
Ah, I thought it might be the 'tap a talk' thing that's suddenly appeared.
I'll let you know if it continues :)
cheers
James
-
Yeah, had that a little last night for a couple of minutes and then it stopped.
-
Happened again last night at about 21:00 GMT but I don't know how long for.
cheers
James
-
Only for a couple of minutes, James.
-
We're getting bigger and bigger and the traffic is growing steadily. Who knows, maybe it's time to think about a server upgrade.
-
I ahd a bad bout of the Internal Server Errors today. Lasted a while.
-
Yes, down for over an hour this morning. I went all Cold Turkey. :'(
-
Yup, same here. Tried to log on about ten past nine and have just got on now after trying every ten-15 mins or so.
cheers

We had difficulties with LAF SQL database and this did lock all the other SQL runnings (LAM etc.) Sorry the inconvenience!
I will keep an eye on this.
-
Me too. Only just got back on. I've had a few over the past week.
-
OK, who broke it?! Fess up, right now!

Bet it was you ;D

Sunday morning and I had to 'do stuff'. Disgraceful.
Well, when I say 'do stuff' I meant watching Disney's 'Robin Hood' ... but it was still distressing.
-
Still have some issues, so a new start of the database or the server could be necessary in the next 1-2 hours.
-
Thanks Alex, for getting it back up and running :)
(At least for the time being ::))
Is it time to move home again? ;)
-
It has been the case all afternoon for me.
Cubs may well have had to 'do stuff' but I have had to get through almost a whole day at work like this.......cold turkey is NOT the right expression for that!
o_o o_o o_o

We will see. At the moment it looks like the issue wasn't the server or the database but the web service. Unfortunately it needed all the day to get the right man from the provider company on the phone.

Sounds about right ::)
Thanks for sorting Alex :)

Took too long.
I had to dust AND sort the fridge out :o
Seriously though - a big thanks for the work you put in.
-
I've only just got back on. It was so bad I went on to TMP. Then I decided switching the internet off was preferable. Thank you for sorting it Prof.

You need help! lol
Thanks, Alex. ;D
-
I shall stop whingeing now and just send thanks where they are deserved:
Thank you very much, Alex.
The last couple of hours will not be so bad now.
:D
-

Thanks, Alex. ;D
There's certainly some on there that do! So much vitriol. >:(
-
I think the server turned into a big sopping heap without the strength to perform its job for the understandable reason that Philip Seymore Hoffman died today. I sympathize. RIP. :(

I gather you're referring to the actor Philip Seymour Hoffman ?

I got that from.
Of course I do. Don't know what

Has anyone else noticed occasional board slowdowns before and since the crash?
-
The site is becoming very popular, its not surprising to see that the most people logged in was last week.
-

Yes for "before" and no for "since". I did some changes on the settings and hope this will work. If not so we will have to look for a new server.
-
Professor I got another "Internal server error" this evening.
Just mentioning it,
Cheers,
Za
-
Me too. Didn't last long though.
cheers

I had another one for about 10 minutes about 10 minutes ago..., very slow running then the dreaded ISE.
I realise that not all problems can be solved by throwing money at them but if it is time to upgrade the server etc facilities perhaps it is time to require all members who have something to sell (whether personally or corporately) to be supporting members?

Thanks, Steve, but I'm still not sure that it has something to do with the server. Recent crash was about some services which weren't running properly. LAF would be slow all the time if we had performance problems due to older hardware but it isn't.
Apart from that the main problem of the moving to a new server is primarly not lack of money but lack of time. I would have to take a vacation, it's really a very big deal.
We will see.
-
Had it yesterday too, just closed and reconnected straight away no problem.
-
Just had a failure to load the page, followed by internal server error.
Started from scratch and all ok now.
I'm using an ipad 2 running IOS 7
-
Anything in your Apache logs? Sounds as if you might have an issue with unclosed threads accumulating in memory

Me too. This is the message:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Ayup, me to. Server hickups.
-
Just to report I have also experienced this error several times today.
-
I have had several problems both today and yesterday, give it 5 minutes and try again usually works
-
Sad to say I'm getting this frequently now. Several times a week.
-
Had yet another incident just now.
-

Me too.
Does not last as long as it did when it first started some weeks ago, though.
-
Am also getting regular incidents of slow running :(
And earlier, somewhat strangely, the Paypal image appeared over the home button :?
-
I too am either getting a 500 Internal Server Error or a crippling slowdown at least 2-3 times per day.
-
I actually just got the 'Internal server error" when I wanted to check this topic lol
cheers,
Za
-
Wow, it's been very bad tonight. Barely able to get on the forums at all.
-
And into this morning too. That did seem like the worst one so far. :'(
-
Yes, the problem with the weekend crashs it takes quite long to get the right people from the technical support. But fortunately I was able to get some. We did some changes on the configuration and I hope it will make slightly better but I assume we perhaps will have to get a new server with more RAM, the current one seems to be a bit outdated.
If the issues continue to occur, I will upgrade to a new machine but as meintioned already this will take some time (2-3 months) to prepare. So I'm sorry in advance for the possible troubles on this site.
Thanks for you understanding.
-
Thanks for the heads-up Prof.

Ditto
Prof, does it help you if we log our outage experiences or does mentioning them here simply tell you something you already know?

I receive a message from the server every time the database crashes so actually you don't need to log it. But if it helps to get through the hard times so feel free to post here :)

I shall endeavour to cope ;)

It felt like my car had been written off or I had lost the use of my legs.
Scary how addictive the forum has become in my daily life. :o
::) I can only agree lol
-
Henceforth I shall shut up about it.

There are many sites that could crash for a day and I would not notice. We will just have to look on this as a hint to paint more.
