Vanvlak's & Mason's progress (or not) in completing projects
« on: April 14, 2013, 07:09:29 PM »
This is where I try to shame myself into completing models.
I incurably start and never finish projects, so I'll list the stuff I am working on, and when the list is too long I'll HAVE to finish something or die of shame (old age, more likely...).
I'll even make a smiley key:
 :)  project in progress
 :?  newly started project
 :-[ project on hold
 :D completed project

I'll only list projects which were started this past week (!) to keep things simple.
:) WH Stone Elven army (based on Wood Elves, with a very wide range of model) (around 60 models, but 12 are already finished)
:) Pulp Alley league - Snakes on a plain (6 or 7 models)
:) Pulp Alley league - Barney's Big Top crew (6 models)
:? Pulp Alley league - Cult (still to be given a name) (7 models)
 :D Objective/scenery centrepiece/impractical flying machine - Xx Fer de lance* (1 model)

As you can see I chose an excellent time to begin, flaunting a  :D for a modelling project I finished today. Pics: my cameras rechargeables died out, and I cannot find a replacement which works well, which means I have to use an adapter which makes me more reluctant than ever to take pics..... but I promise to do my best.

*type of snake - I first learnt of it from the old computer game Elite http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Fer-de-Lance_(Classic)

Count yourself lucky, Vanvlak.
Although I have made good progress in the last two years on my Mordheim and Strange Aeons projects (and I COULD call them finished  :D, I wont, as I have a list of things to add to them.
In fact it is not just a list but a pile of lead and scenery stuff to make or paint.

During that time I have bought or traded a whole stack of stuff for a lot more projects which have not even started, so my list would look more loke this:

Edit: I have rearranged these projects into different catagories.
The top section will contain 'completed' projects that I will still go back to now and then and add to.
The middle section will contain the current projects that I intend to work on this year.
The final section will include projects which will be put on 'hold' indefinitely, but may well creep into the 'current' section if I get the urge to work on them.

It should be easier to see any progress that way.
I hope.

'Completed' projects:
 :D Mordheim Scenery
 :D Strange Aeons

'Current' projects:
 :-[ Old West
 :?  VSF
 :-[ Undead Army
 :?  Star Wars
 :-[ RT 40K/Space Opera
 :? LotR Gondorians
 :? PAPISS Box Challenge

Projects on 'hold':
 :-[ Halfling Mordheim warband
 :-[ Orc Mordheim Warband
 :-[ Asgard Dwarves
 :-[ 40mm Hellboy

I am sure there must be more, (my Missus tells me that the cupboard has 'too many likkal men in it') so you see: You aint so bad after all.

Relax, you are doing well.
 :)

Thanks Mason - and by the way, any pics of the Halflings? I'd like to see those as I have a handful of the small guys who could end up as allies for my Wood - er, sorry, Stone Elven.
There is one problem I have - those are projects I began since last week. They do not include the over sixty other incomplete armies or warbands I own......  ;D

The halflings are a mixture of Citadel pre slotta and C series sculpts that have not seen paint yet, so no pictures.
They will get done eventually but I can justify not having done either those or the Orcs yet as there is no room in the Mordheim cabinet!
Should  get a larger cabinet then this excuse will no longer hold up. So, I wont, not yet at least!

As for your other list: Do not publish that. It may put you off even starting!

Sounds good. Can't wait to see your stuff.
It's nothing, sir. Just a burn from a ray gun.

I see a few changes of expression there, so progress is obviously happening.
Well done with the Cult!
 :)

I see the Box challenge has crept on to the list.
That is on mine too, so (hoping that you do not mind) I have added it to my list on my previous post in this thread and have made a small adjustment to one of my existing projects. (I painted a few things that I have not posted on the forum yet...)

Maybe we can spur each other on.
(If you dont mind me piggy-backing your thread, that is).
 :D

I just replaced working on one league with another... sigh.
Piggy-back away - I can even change the heading to Vanvlak's and Mason's lack of progress... ;)

I wish you luck boys!
But my eyes just can't stand the amount of smileys involved. And while they all represent something, they all look the same after 20 or so in a row ;)
How about a simple 1-5 system, where 1 is shite and 5 is over the moon?

My projects (without smileys, or I'll have a arse hernia)

3 - Herring Jävlar. Slowly moving, loads to paint, other stuff getting in the way.
3 - Bushido terrain. Built, base painted and then... Well, that's it.
1 - Northern Pacific board. I cry when I see the pieces, and really want to finish, but I can't summon the will for it.

That's it.

I think it is. At least I am ashamed of my performance, although I'm true to my signature.  ;)
