I am not Groot: Pulp Alley BatRep 23/10/14
« on: September 27, 2014, 08:38:24 PM »

I enjoyed reading about Groot when I was a kid, when he fought with the Hulk.  I liked the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.  I like space elves/Eldar.  I decided to combine all that into a sort of space wood elf thing.  This big wooden guy is the first model off the assembly line.

Basically its a sort of Exodite project, but as people tend to heavily associate that concept with dragons and dinosaurs I wont use that term too often.  In summation, this is about alien plant people allied with space elves who tend to hang around/symbiotically bond with a lot of insects.

The project will be about twenty models strong I suspect.  I have a number of them already in progress and should have more to show within the week.

More images etc in the blog post.  I should have more of these guys finished over the next week or so.

Really cool job on that guy Paul! And thanks for clearing up that Groot reference, I was wondering if I'd read anything with Groot in it without remembering. That issue, with Blip, Goom, Groot and all those other obscure monsters was a favourite of mine as a kid. Just look at that cover:

Why does the Hulk look like Peter Dinklage there though? =)

Some are born Groot, some achieve Grootness, and some have Grootness thrust upon them.

William Shakespeare's early attempt at a Marvelle quote.
'So do all who see such times. But that is not for us to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that we are given.'

Thanks for the feedback folks.

Cool! I like the small one too.

Thanks PF.  Thats also a Reaper Bones miniature, "Stumpy".

Coincidentally, there is at least one space elf miniature with a Neil haircut lined up for this project  :D

Me too.  More than the old Ferrigno/Bixby show, that story is the one that made me "get" the Hulk as a young kid.  I could talk for a ages about that, but for the sake of keeping the thread on target I wont :)

If nothing unexpected happens over the next few days then I should have a further handful of models for this project finished before the weekend.

Really like the vibrancy of the model - the bright colours really bring it to life. Looking forward to see what else comes along with this little warband.
