F&IW Painting- Can someone help?
« on: May 14, 2010, 12:52:05 AM »
Hi,

I've asked this on another forum but thought I'd ask here as well.

I recently paid a visit to a Blog or Website which had a colour print of Capt. Beaujeu in Native American dress as he led his troops out to meet the British on their march to Fort Duquesne.

The painting had Capt. Beaujue striped to the waist armed wth a musket, with his tricorn held above his head. Matchlock Miniatures sell a 15mm figure in this pose, which is why it grabbed my attention, and why I'm trying to locate it… again. I have searched in vain for two days trying to find the picture in question to no avail and I am starting to think I may have been imagining it!

Does anyone know the picture I'm thinking of and does anyone know anywhere on the WWW I may be able to view it.

Thanks in advance for any assitance you may be able to provide.

*Edit - I'll take a photo of this miniature and add it later today.

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Thanks for the link but it's not the painting. However, I am using this particular model to paint one of the miniatures  :D

I believe I found it during one of those times you go from site/blog to site/blog to site/blog...

As soon as I recognised it I should have saved it  ::)

I've seen that painting fairly recently, can't think where right now, I'll get back when I find it - unless someone else does first  ;)

Yep, sorry I read your post too fast and I realised later that you were talking about a print. I did some research on the net myself yesterday and didn’t find anything either. I'm pretty sure I’ve seen the print you’re talking about somewhere but I can’t remember where it was either.

Thanks for all your help Gentlemen.

I have found a copy of the picture in question, on a DVD. I know I also saw it on the web lol

It was used in the 1998 History Channel production, Pontiac, and is shown about 10 or so minutes in.

Now, I'm searching through the artist acknowledged in the end credits.

I've seen that painting fairly recently, can't think where right now, I'll get back when I find it - unless someone else does first  ;)
I remember visiting the Musket and Mohawk blog, the Woodsrunner blog and finally Silent Invader's blog amongst others the same night...arghhh...

No need to be sorry. I do the same thing all the time lol
Thanks for the link.

I've searched the net.  :-I
The silly thing is I'm sure I have it in a book somewhere - the trouble is, I have faasands of 'em, and it hasn't turned up so far. If you find a print before me, please post it, then at least I'll know if we're talking about the same thing  ;)

 lol lol lol

Intrigued by the challenge I spent quite a while searching as well.  The closest I got to was a bronze sculpture presumably inspired by  the same source.......

Well, I decided to take a photo of the picture in question off my television screen. Sorry it's very ordinary:

I can see it now, 'Ohhh… That painting! That's not Beaujeu!' lol

And for what it's worth, this is the 15mm Matchlock Miniature in question:

The one good thing about not being able to find this picture straight up is that I've seen some wonderful artwork by some very talented artist  :D

Thanks once again everyone.

That's the one I remembered seeing, I was beginning to think I'd imagined it.

One of those classic romantic deaths, cut down at the beginning of one of the first engagements  :'( , but you could get plenty of use out of him as other French officers (preferably not leading the chaps out on the Heights of Abraham though  lol ).
