Title: Voodoo Queen
Post by: area23 on 09 July 2017, 01:47:36 PM
The voodoo queen and worshippers of the congregation.

Inspired by Dracula's America I finally decided how to paint these Darkest Africa figures I've had for ages. Real Voudon practicers would probably have dresses with their shoulders covered, but I think they still look realistic enough.

Not necessarily. Voudou, like Santeria, is a close cousin of Candomblé and those channelling the orixás may well have bare shoulders but then they would likely be costumed as such.

Really nice work, there! Funnily enough, I'm currently working on some unique Arcane Powers for the Congregation (to be included in a future book) as we speak!  ;)

AWESOME, CONGRATULATIONS!  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Those Copplestone African princesses are PRICELESS!!!  lol

And I liked very much the idea of using a Darkest Africa Victorian Lady as the Queen, GREAT JOB!!!  :D

West Wind also have very nice figures in their Gothic Horror - Zombies line to add to your Queen's group of followers, check them out!  ;)

I could make for a very interesting narrative, missionary's wife possessed by African spirit.

Fenrir, take a look at Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu - Secrets of New Orleans for some very nice ideas on the subject! ;)

What are you using them for?  Game, scenario, rules, etc?

And....very nice work!

yes, for Dracula's America.
These will probably just be non combatant bystanders, unless there will be rules for chanting worshippers!

Maybe a "n" number of chanting worshippers doing nothing but chanting during "n" turns add "n" dice to the Queen's actions?  ;D

Why do I get the urge to whip out my Kolchak figure, a Brigade Haitian Zombie,   mafia thugs, some pool hall type pimps, and your Voodoo gals, and game the second episode of the Night Stalker?

:)  :)  :)

Nice group there. It was the Congregation that got me to get in to the Nickstarter for this. Such an interesting group to play and not as bad guys for once, huzzah!

Hey, I totally forgot about those! West Wind miniatures are quite compatible with Copplestone sculpts, even if moore cartoony.
