After seeing all the lovely 15 mm projects on here I have started my own one.
I quite like the look of AK47 Republic games I have seen.

I have a load more figures and so far only one vehicle a landrover, all to paint
-
Goodjob.
-
Looking good mate although it's a bit different to what you normally do 8)
-
Very nice indeed.
Threatening to get our AK47 stuff to the table, after a few years resting, this coming Sunday.
-
Great stuff Colin. :)
-
Welcome to the wonderful world of AK47.
Any set of rules where you can truly blame the dice for your defeat (I would have won if those perishing
tanks/trucks/mortars/armoured cars (delete which not applicable) had only turned up earlier/ at all.
Where you can use coloured pencils to bring your nations flag to life.
When you are not quite sure at what point the game will end.
These are the rules for me.
Long live the freedom loving tanks of Zumri, the people's shield.
-
A good start :)
-
Very nice Colin and some nice scenery as well 👍
-
Thanks Guys
Has.Been pictures would be nice when you get your toys out.
-
That's a bloody good start, it looks great.
-
Love the stuff you've started with. Looking forward to seeing what you are going to put together for your Imagi-nation!

That's some nicely turned out 15mm figures and terrain

Looks great, can’t wait to see the finished tower.
-
Really good work-AK47 is great fun. Also your terrain is excellent it makes the game look so much better. Can I ask who makes the tower?
-
Thanks Guys
The tower is home made, cut from cereal packet cardboard
-
Cardboard?? It looks amazing! Tin Shed is a magician with cereal packets... I am beginning to wonder if it is something on this forum that makes people reach for the cereal boxes? Great work and I will be giving that a go myself.
-
Got a mystery package from ebay today
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/39/1912-300519234329-392721099.jpeg)
Some of the models were not built very well and required to be broken apart and will require rebuilding
An AA gun that was built upside down on the trailer and also the guns are upside down on the mount
Need to find a picture of how the guns are supposed to be mounted
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/39/1912-300519234329-392732303.jpeg)
got this tank an M60?
Needs a bit of TLC

Not sure what the gun is?
-
Have to be a recoiless rifle wouldn't it?
-
I wanted to keep this all in one place so I thought I would reopen this thread
Done some more work on the MUTTS I got from ebay
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/43/1912-241219154652-430151075.jpeg)

some more to follow soon c&c welcome
-
Great thread mate.
Sold my AK project off years ago, but it brings back some good memories :)
-
Figures looking good.
I think those mutts might be mounting tow launchers instead of recoilless rifles? I know the Israelis and us forces had them.
-
Looks really good. This is one system/area I have been tempted by but not done yet....
-
Cracking work colin! :-* Those wee figures must be hurting your eyes! o_o
-
Looks great.
-

You have to give AK47 a go. It’s really great fun. You get to buy some really odd 15mm gear, then paint it up in your own style/colours. I remember looking through the army lists thinking “what sort of rubbish can I afford to arm these troops with ?”
-
Was trying to get two forces together to have a game this weekend but I have not managed this is a picture of what I have so far
Communist Dictator force
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/44/1912-210320011434-445005.jpeg)
The unpainted guys at the back are what I need to finish. A third TOYOTA to make and paint
there is a couple of options included here as well
Settler force
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/44/1912-210320011435-445021291.jpeg)
A couple of bases to finish in the second at the front
The fifth unit is nearly finished at the back, a unit of mortars
-
looking great, love the basing.
Looks like some 3d printed stuff in the box??
Ive done some of Bergmans stuff in 15mm for this
-
Keep going, these look super.
-
Keep up the good work. the free people of Zumri welcome you
to the struggle against the Capitalist oppressors.
(You will have fun)
-
I have really enjoyed this thread-I used to play AK47 and last year purchased and printed out the pdf version just to have a read of it again. My old eyes probably could not manage 15mm these days though!
I have to ask how did you make the tower/oil well-it looks fantastic.
-

The more regular parts of the Peter Pig AK47 range are a doddle to paint, if your standards aren’t too high. Spray them in your predominant colour (e.g. olive drab), block in other colours for weapons and flesh etc. and then splash on a dark wash.
-
looking great, love the basing.

Ive done some of Bergmans stuff in 15mm for this
Ordered some stuff from butlers printed models, a couple of bedford RL's and a couple of Saladin armoured cars not really a fan, yet to try and paint one, a lot of work to prep for undercoat
-

The tower was cut carefully from cereal packet cardboard, I then used the first one as a template to draw out the other three side and again carefully cut them out and glued it all together and try to hold it all together while the glue sets
-
The tower suddenly becomes more impressive now that your construction method has been revealed! AK47 does tick all the boxes for fun game
-
Been rolling some dice in the AK47 rule book so I now have a name for my country and flags for the two main sides
So a bit of history and background
The Country of NEW-BOSIA is a small country on the West African coast. The capital city is called Collinsville. The land was settled back in the late 1700’s mainly by British people of Scottish decent leaving the country after the troubles, the Local population moved inland away from the settlers. The small country has been pretty much left alone during all the world troubles as it was not on any major trade routes and only during the second world war did the country supply troops to the British empire, the troops formed a battalion in the south African division and fought in the North African and Italian campaigns, Post-war has seen the country getting involved in independence wars as some of the native Africans have been pushed from their lands by other wars and are encroaching on the peaceful white areas of the country. The local government has been supported by the British government in the past, but that support has fallen in recent years and the local native population is being encouraged by neighbouring communist countries to overthrow the local western style government.
MILITARY- COLINSVILLE DEFENCE FORCE (CDF)
The military is a small well-trained professional force using slightly older British Equipment they also have a competent reserve system and a paramilitary police force guard the borders, port and there is also a small navy and air force
Commander – General Macintosh served/ trained with British forces during WWII
1 Battalion Professional mechanised infantry APC Mounted various M3, M5, M113
1 Squadron of centurion MBT
Recce Squadron Saladin Armoured cars Land rovers
Jeep squadron RCL
2 battalions of reserve infantry - Lorries and land rovers
Police battalion
Helicopter
COMMUNIST PARTY OF NEW-BOSIA (CPONB)
The main units of CPONB are regular trained in neighbouring countries and supported by the same countries with armaments, a local militia is recruited from the native population. In the local region names are seen as very important, the more powerful name the better the person/unit
Commander – Field Marshal Dr Iwana B Boss Communist dictator
A Battalion of T55 MBT- The Lions
1 Regular battalion mounted in APC BRT 152 – Para Commandoes
1 Regular battalion truck mounted- Simba’s
3 Technical HMG and RCL- Cheetahs’
HVY weapon battalion, HMG RCL, Mortar and AAA
2 battalions of Militia
Economy
In recent years in has been found that there is oil under ground in the region and “British Oillay (BO)” have set up some drilling rigs to access it. There is also some exploration for other valuable minerals by the same company. In the past there was some exploitation of the local fauna and various woods from the area were popular for a while. Tourism has been the main import for most of the county’s history, but this has recently been curtailed by regular attacks on the only airport by communist F19 Farmer aircraft from nearby countries
Landscape
There is some flat arable land around the river down by the coast and that is where most of the settles live but most of the land is mountainous Jungle with the odd farm stead and local village cut out of the jungle. There is a decent road network though out the country due to the efforts of the mining companies

love all the background

I got my Saladins & other bits for the Zumri Naval force (They were heavily influenced by
the Royal Navy & their use of armoured cars.) from Sky-Trex. I think they are still available.
-
Nice armoured Bedford ^__^.
I look forward to seeing how they turn out.
-
Those printed models look awfull. But I look forward to see how much your paintjob can salvage.
The rest is awesome.
-
This thread is cracking - glad I found it. I really like PP minis and AK47 looks a lot of fun.

The peter pig minis are great but I have yet to try the game I have lost my gaming buddy due to this virus, I am trying to persuade my boy to play a game but I have decided to dig out my old 20 mm stuff and play rapid fire, easier to teach a new player a game I know. I have struggled to drag my boy from his phone and computer
-
Managed to paint one of the armoured cars
it is not so bad if you use the 3 foot rule, not so great if you have good eye sight, which I don't so to me it looks fine

Really cool project, I love your airfield.
I bought a bunch of stuff for AK47 many years ago but never built it. Your build made me want to get it out and do something with it :)

I am not very good at painting tanks so any comments or helpful hints wood be great, Ideally I would like the vehicles to look a bit more lived in help!
-
Cool!
I think your tanks look good, I haven't even tried to paint my vehicles...
-
Crackin, colin! 8)
-
One of the great things about AK47 Republic is that you get to use Centurions - favourite tank ever. And T55s just to complete the perfection :D
Nice work.
Doug
-
Love it great work.
-
My first AK47 force was the Zumri 'Army' (Pictures 54,5 &6)
Picture 64 Is the Zumri 'Air Force'
The advantages of having different forces are two-fold:
1) I can play against someone who doesn't have any AK47 troops.
2) I can 'mix & match' e.g. If the 'Army' wants to drop the tanks &
have some Jeeps armed with Recoiless Rifles, I can do that.
-
And now the 'Navy' complete with their Armoured cars (Skytrex)
-
very nice pictures :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

@has.been, where did you get those canvas trucks in the blue box from???

@has.been, where did you get those canvas trucks in the blue box from???
Those I picked up at a Poundland (all four for one pound) They were covered
with Cadbury's logos, but hey 25p each, I am not going to complain.
The 'trucks' in the 'Army' box were from a Triang railway car transporter.
In the 1960s my youngest brother, knowing I loved trainsets, bought it for me,
unfortunately it was state of the art modern & I wanted 1930s GWR steam.
It sat in its box until AK47 came along, with its 'a tank is a tank & a truck is a truck'.
hence they became my army's 'trucks'. Waste not, want not.
-
Cheers for the response! I am sad now that I cannot get any, I can't even find anything more modern than the Bedford MJ for my cold war Brits.
I want Fodens, Leyland and MAN trucks!!
-
I got some bedford RL's from butlers printed models
-
Last year at a show I managed to pick up 3 of these for a £5 with the intention of using them for this, lovely little plastic kit from battlefront, very easy to put together, I figured I can used it along with a bedford for each unit to carry my six base units four in the truck and two in the halftrack and still be able to use the HMG on the halftrack?

BREAKING NEWS
Emergency in the border area of New Bosia, Reports are coming in of a large force under the communist Dictator Field marshal Professor I Wana B Boss, is approaching the border area where only a small force is preparing to repel them, reinforcements are being sent from the Colinsville Defence force and it is hoped they will arrive on time
I have persuaded my daughter to try a game of AK47 tomorrow we ran through the political charts today in preparation
A crack down by my daughters lead to an effective purge making one of her units upgraded from regular to professional
And then spending a lot of money on foreign merc’s and training (Money diverted from a UN aid package) allows her to get four extra Hvy weapon bases (need to build and paint these yet)
My settler force rejected a UN Resolution for majority rule and my unit of armoured cars was upgraded to professional
And I managed to persuade the USA that "Wana B Boss" is a communist and they have sent me four trucks (which I Don’t own?)
We then rolled to see what we start the game with my daughter rolled great dice (preview of what is to come) She is the attacker and she managed to get her complete force to start the game to defend I only managed to get two units, my professional infantry and a regular two HMG jeeps

-
Good luck with the game.
Glad you are enjoying the rules.

Can't wait until my kids can be coerced into gaming with me!
It's another 10 years or so...
-
My daughter has let me down and changed her mind about playing :'(
need to try and persuade my boy >:D :D maybe tomorrow
-
Can I roll dice through a video call? lol
-
Can I roll dice through a video call? lol
You can! Use Roll20 and Colin can set up an overhead cam on the table for the battle and it has a virtual dice roller.
-
Can I roll dice through a video call? lol
Are you not still working? If you have the time I am sure we can work something out

Here is my small basic force for AK47. I am in the process of adding more support weapons and I want to renovate the vehicle park with some T55s

What are the three tanks in the middle top of your vehicle box?
-
They are French heavy armoured cars either 6 or 8 wheels I can't recall . I bought the whole lot second hand but I think they are probably Peter Pig
Woops no I am wrong they don't seem to be Peter Pig just looked at his website
-
thats a lovely collection
-
Well me managed to start our first game of AK 47 Tonight Via video with my brother he played the force my daughter had rolled the other day, so he had five units against my two units
I set up the table as the border post and fence line with my infantry in the border post

they had a bridge to cross

-
great looking table
-
Oh dear :o Nothing to stop them crossing the bridge! Let's hope your reinforcement dice save you.
Great table. Looks very like one of has.been's layouts, the same sort of ghastly tactical choices I have to make. Never enough forces to cover everything. I look forward to seeing what happens.
-
gamer Mac, you are not going to regret getting into AK47. In terms of the equation"Enjoyment received v. Time and Money invested" it was one of the best things I have done. We have had great fun with it.
-
It looks like a fun game, Colin.
So what happened?! :o
-
Do what Vodkafan, Flatpack, JC, Dicemaster & I do...
Have fun & blame the dice.
I have 'won' the battle, only to throw lousy dice for the 'Apre-battle'
and 'lose' the war.
Historically accurate. Just been catching up on my reading. The Tet offensive,
where the VC took a pounding & militarily gained nothing, only to have a
strategic victory dropped in its lap by the US media.
-
Well it went a bit slower than expected still learning the rules
first off my brother changed the order of advance my daughter was going to use and led the way across the bridge with his two tanks with the two recoilless rifle armed jeeps set up at either side to give cover, the Random movement dice basically finished the first turn as the tanks only rolled a 1 so even on the road it was a slow trundle that blocked the bridge for the rest!
Because I am using my phone to film the action, set up on a shelve overlooking the table, I have not been able to take photos as the game was played so there might be a bit of artistic licence with any photos shown
-
There was some firing at the end of the first turn ,one of recoilless gun armed jeeps on thefar side of the bridge managed to take out my only HMG at the border post along with the APC it was in, but as the rules allow for simultaneous fire the same HMG took out the jeep that had fired at it
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/45/1912-120420132142-455521928.jpeg)
in the second turn the brave tanks slowly move off the bridge and take up fire positions on either side and the profesional truck mounted troops slowly advance on to the bridge when the militia technical zoom past and head for the border
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/45/1912-120420132143-45553397.jpeg)
but things don't go well for them
-
Bravo sir! Having achieved that I would retreat from those two tanks and pray for the reinforcements to come soon...
-
(Following what Vodkafan said)
News reporter for CTV (Collinsville TV) 'Here are some of our brave border guards. Let's ask
them how things are going at the border'
(Troops run up, out of breath.) 'Why are you running guys?'
(Troops, trying to catch breath) 'Enemy... tanks'
Reporter 'Which direction?'
'Well we ain't chasing the buggers!'
-
I don't know what to say guys
but the brave defenders of freedom that is New Bosia do not run at the first squeaking tank sound, if "tank" is the right word for these rust buckets approaching the border, my professional troops will hold at all costs and rely on their colleagues to come to their rescue
-
lol
I like it!
-
Your troops are obviously of different kidney to mine ;)

Very appropriate :)

And then there were those of us with less than pure minds
expecting something completely different. Nudge nudge, wink wink! ;) ;) lol lol

I hadn't thought like that even though peter pig did include a freebee of a pack of naked ladies when I ordered some civilians, not sure how to fit them into the game though?

If New Bosia is on the coast or has large lakes paint them with swimsuits; as the Olympic beach volleyball team in training:

Is this one of your reinforcement units Gamer Mac?
-
no such luck
-
What's happening in the game?
-
Well we finally managed to finish the game, again over a video link using WhatsApp on my phone. I was waiting on the start of turn four to try and bring on some of my army, of my 5 units I had only managed to have 2 on the board so far but I need to roll a 6 on a D6 for each unit, on this turn I failed all my rolls the enemy tanks moved closer to the border post I also decided that my two Land rovers with HMG’s would be better at the border post this was a mistake as it allowed the enemy unit on the other side of the table to freely move into the native village and then spread onto the third objective, at the road exit further into the interior of New bosia.
My brave defenders at the border post manage to hunker down and survive another round and hold back the communist hoards
Success at the start of turn 5 and I get 2 of my 3 remaining units on to the table by rolling two 6’s
I bring the 2 tanks on to the board right at the border post, right next to the T 55’s for the expected slugfest
I bring the 2 armoured cars on to the table next to the native village to deal with the troops on that side
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/45/1912-200420102215-457411554.jpeg)
The tanks fight it out around the border post, we both loose a tank in the first round I also loose both my land rovers to fire from a recoilless rifles, but manage to destroy the jeep mounted one, in turn.
The next turn no more reserves the last two tank duel it out destroying each other, a quirk of the simultaneous fire rules.
Another quirk of the rules finish the game, my armoured cars have moved around to engage the troops trying to take the road exit the troops get to shoot first and my brother rolls a double 3 which means a random effect occurs and my brother rolls a 4 which allows professional quality troops to call in artillery or air support, the resultant fire from this support destroys both the armoured cars, to make matters worse this unit that called in the fire was originally just a regular unit but got upgraded during the initial political manoeuvring I don’t have any aircraft for this game so the box will have to do
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/45/1912-200420103656-45745742.jpeg)
As a surprise we then worked out the victory points
84 to 106 to me
So the brave defenders of New Bosia had prevented the communist threat and can live on in peace and freedom
-
Good write up. Nice to see some gaming going on.
-
Looking great Colin
what you need is one of these:

It even says so in the description!!
-
I am not surprised your armoured cars didn't last long, albeit by an airstrike. I have often used big gun armoured cars as a substitute for tanks to save points, but they are vulnerable even to MG fire and never last long.

I have at least 2 die cast jets which you are welcome to if you want to add air power to your forces.
John

Thanks for the offer but I will pass for the moment, too much other stuff to do
Cheers

There isn't a lot to do. They are prepainted. All they need is a flight stand.
John

What are they?
What do you want for them?

Hi Mac
I think the one plane is a Dassault Mirage not sure on the other. They are very old 1/100 diecasts I picked up years ago for very little money. Happy to move them on just for the price of the postage. Will try to get pictures done.
John
-
Cool , where are you from?
I have been having problems with paypal so a swap would suit me better?
What are you interested in?
-
Lovely APC, this thread is gold!
-
Bad news is that I can only find one, I was sure I had two. Let me have your address and I'll send it for nothing. I have go to the post office on Saturday but I'm working from home so don't have access to the normal range of packaging at work. See what you think when you get it and if you want to send me something we can talk about it but to be honest I am happy for it to go to a good home. I am based in Kidderminster West Midlands.
John
-
Very kind of you
I am just outside Glasgow
I will send you a PM
-
Oh, Overlord, have you become somewhat deranged? You post pictures of a Bay Watch HotT army and implore us not to ask. Of course, we are going to ask! Well, I will. Please tell us about the Bay Watch army, size and source of figures and such, especially the surfers? Or point us to a thread where we can discover this.
Thank you so kindly.

great painting on that apc Gamer

That is really great looking!
Awesome!

I love this thread, and should really get a copy of these rules. They seem right up my alley! I have eye-baled them many times, but never pulled the trigger.
I look forward to more games!
-
Give them a go Easy E.
Any set of rules that has you dicing for your flag, then colouring it in,
is for those who like FUN.
