Finally getting round to actually starting my WW2 project (as opposed to last time where I just talked about it and got distracted), I've actually painted some models! The WW2 Brits are my focus for the next few weeks of hobby, beginning with a few warlord models before moving onto the Empress figures for the main platoon

More details, including colours, are on the blog at https://www.hntdaab.co.uk/blog/2021/02/02/sitrep-project-ww2-begins/ (https://www.hntdaab.co.uk/blog/2021/02/02/sitrep-project-ww2-begins/)

Really fine painting on your figures.
You caught the look of the last days of the war.
Look out for your buddies and keep your head down.
You don't want to be one of the last to die for your county.
-
Nice job..I really like the winter troops and you have captured the cold brilliantly. Always a shame they release one box and don’t follow up with support options for them though.
-
Nicely painted as otherd say. When you have done the Empress models can you take a comparison picture please with the warlord figures to see how they look together. Normally avoid Warlord nowadays but those look very good.
Thanks in advance
Cheers

They look tasty, great job on the painting, capured that cold and dirty feel really well.
-
Thanks everyone for the kind words (and glad to hear I nailed the horrible gritty winter look). These models are lovely and packed full of great details, a little chunky but it makes all the details easy to paint.

I managed to get another four guys done, leaving only the section leader and his 2IC with the sten guns to finish tomorrow. Still more fun with lots more mud on the knee, elbows and coat bottoms.
-
They look thoroughly muddy, cold and miserable. Cracking job.
-
Finished squad done, finished off the 2IC and Section Leader today. Love the guy on the left (the 2IC), the just the pose and the greatcoat + helmet + cap combo.

Better photos of the whole section tomorrow but I loved painting these guys and I need more figures in greatcoats!
-
Great looking squad!I really like these!
-
Excellent. Really capture the feel of a veteran section
-
Cracking work on those chaps!
They look so cold and miserable...
-
Thanks for the comments everyone - I'm really enjoying these guys, and can't wait to get to work on the Empress guys.
Next up (and to finish off my Warlord figures that are not the box of Paras waiting for me) are the pair of British Snipers in camo suits. I edited one of them to be an injured spotter instead, ditching the rifle for a Sten gun.

The full squad assembled in their glory

Also a little write up on them at https://www.hntdaab.co.uk/blog/2021/02/10/project-ww2-infantry-section-10th-teesside-regiment-of-rifles/ (https://www.hntdaab.co.uk/blog/2021/02/10/project-ww2-infantry-section-10th-teesside-regiment-of-rifles/)

Great stuff. Never seen anybody else do Winter Brits. Love your colour palette.
-
Love the painting but I would be interested to see one with a couple of winter tufts and a few melting snow patches?

I'm just waiting for the snow powder to come back into stock, will definitely be adding that to them. Will agree it's a bit brown at the moment.
-
Nice palette on those.
-
A little delay while distracted with all those "fantasy things" but I'm back to painting the rest of my WW2 Winter Brits. I've done four of the Empress figures in the jackets - lovely sculpts although having to relearn the scheme based on the finer detail.

I also managed to get my hands on the snow powder and I am VERY happy with the look of it - it helps to set off the green and brown of the main figures while keeping the "it's bloody grim" look.
Also if anyone wants a comparison, the guys in the foreground right are the Empress figures, the rest are Warlord. Overall they seem to fit together relatively well, maybe wouldn't intermix in the same units but also wouldn't be too bad alongside each other
-
Well done Mr Dog, those Brits are awesome mate!!

Thank you! I'm really happy with them and it's definitely hit the stage where I am really excited about the idea of having a full platoon of them good to go by the time I'm finished
-
Now if you have the warlord Brit head with the bandage you could have some red snow! lol

You know, I'm using that head on my Sniper's spotter...
I might have to give that a go.
-
I realise I left this thread to fall asleep a bit but... I completed the platoon of Brits!

In addition, I've also started work on the extra figures and support options. First up was the Senior Command element (including the medic, piper and signaller)

-
Wow, love the figures.
Makes me cold just looking at them. 8)
-
Very nice painting on those Brits. The Command team is excellent, especially the Piper.
-
Yup very nice work indeed :-*
-
Yup, some of my favourite painted minis on here.
Btw...did you see the limited edition War without hate release from warlord?
I got one in the post. Now the Brit needs his knobby knees covering as he’s dressed for desert....but a tiny bit of gs will render him a useful addition to your winter Brits.
Don’t worry, the gerboa is in its own stand!
-
Excellent work, loving the senior command element.
-
Terrible at checking the thread but thanks for all the comments! I've taken a little bit of a break to do some things that aren't brown and brown. I'll be returning to them soon for Phase 2...
-
Those all look great, the Empress and Warlord mix well.
-
Lovely Brits
-
Still working my way through them - 11 more figures to paint, then onto my Tank support.
But really happy with my Recce boys I just finished. Decided to convert up four of them to be wearing soft caps and painted their faces darkened for a night patrol. They will probably end up either with the sniper or in the patrol phase photos!

Those recce figures are lovely and such a change to see.
-
That's a neat idea, very well done.
