Now that I have a bit of time, I can write up a description of what I am planning on. The Wildwoods expansion introduces transports as a kind of mobile base for wizards to work from when in the wilderness. Like everything else in Frostgrave, the build concept is pretty open to interpretation. I really don't want to make just another wagon or Vardo as I have a fair few already so my plan is to combining parts of this:

With elements of these.

I am not sure if I want to add a detailed interior or not. So we shall see if it pans out.

Good luck mate.

Good luck mate.
Thanks. Still working out the kinks in my hobby space. Moving house is one of the few things I genuinely hate.

I felt that. 6 Months after my 8th move and I still can't find shit.
Looking forward to your creation!

Ugh, indeed. We didn't move, but had to pack up nearly everything for a floor replacement in 2023. Still missing a box of hobby stuff.
-
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
-
Good luck - sounds like you will end up with an addition to your gaming rather than something to pop on the shelf, which is a win in my book :)

Got the spider legs in. Ready to get started. :D

There's a leg and spider pun in there somewhere. Legging it? Getting a leg up?

Nice detailing work.

Looking good so far!

I am curious to see where this goes, I think I will really like this one.
-
what a good start :-*

I'm really looking forward to this build based on nothing more than pretty much everything else you've ever made.

Oooo that's posh.
Kinda fancy and creepy at the same time.
-
That is an epic start. Very steampunk (magepunk?) even with no paint on it!
-
Just some photos of the thorax with the legs attached.

Got some more work done tonight
Built and detailed the front sides and back of the head. Added some gears to the interior so it is extra chompy.

I will need to prime the interiors of both these pieces before I can put tops and bottoms on then off to the abdomen and exterior detailing.
-
Fantastic use of those animal bits
-
nice progress
-
That is a lovely little creation :)
-
Yeah, that is some genius there.
-
In the end I decided not to worry about priming the interior. Finished the roof of both the head and the thorax. Simple coffee stirrers with a skin of self adhesive ducting tape. I need to see if I want to tile the tops or if I want to leave it looking like waterproofed fabrics. There is still some gap filling to do but I will finish that once I have built the interior/exterior of the abdomen.

-
That looks fantastic. Is there enough space underneath for a mini to stand?
-
That's cool...and creepy all at the same time.
With the roof I assumed you were going with lead rather than waterproof fabric but either way it works.
-
I'd been thinking there was going to be another story above the leg/machinery level for accommodation but that looks good as is!
-
very nice indeed
-
That thing looks really hungry lol
Looks great.
-
Thank you for the nice words all.
Is there enough space underneath for a mini to stand?
On the backside. It is stooping down in front both to be chompy and to move the center of gravity forward for when the abdomen is built.
With the roof I assumed you were going with lead rather than waterproof fabric but either way it works.
I think fabric. A lead roof would be pretty heavy but it would however stop the gama rays. 8)
I'd been thinking there was going to be another story above the leg/machinery level for accommodation but that looks good as is!
Like me it is expanding out not up. lol lol lol
-
That's coming along nicely, very cool
-
Had some time last night and this morning to work on the abdomen. First attempt was way too small so I built the design again a bit bigger. First a photo for scale with a mini on a 25mm base.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJMJIvZF9LrLNt7rPQBGgrDGC9jYOmnx9MRdWzW4Mwq0KU7fWYv2h-SfzMeRwfYUczuDsNrvgFmV05SKV5fL9nfXB1Eqas7GzFsubhbKxpKcsxUd09C9Kha6bfVI6C1aMbVc0SfHdmpBcBpGhqsqz9FYoIE7xEhvGe0iWxx6uSKs0hdl0Iz7pkBquQoMA/s5152/DSC00004.jpg)
A photo to give an idea how big it is compared to the other assemblies.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb-VZdCNlWzYbyfJrBsKear-1yjNXOdkjfs_JGwZeeRNwVyQPD9trrBjmEygkPUDL3e_qacWQnE9Np2VlEkJhsJ-7ZQVFTh0vAgCtev3S58GDDkZ8KKtLjbtNAQ5WsiWlh57lPiW-Klx_7ObzjwGCbT5Z-Rq_BYVQngLe6WATUL_ElMHOVcQlZYCJee18/s5152/DSC00003.jpg)
The interior partitions in place.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixUARZBIqeqxp4QTMjClZPzqLE-x35-9AlrvkkcfnBFMkZasT_8Zty6XXvTF9PrlJtVTffnirrpc6-XgRHM_-TBahavGjxYy-unIQjbCE7YjhOvA2teT_x6NEgf_IKDWFvlcpbOx2PsGxCl7cRG5AKisHkRiNFNXFKxsdh7bkCy67hbm_oFEUBJqQNE7w/s5152/DSC00005.jpg)
The side I started to detail.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkEriYPkSwTpQb67r1eGqU-jKQ6eQASLGZIyDKrOr039V1PIsheef22tD3qDIe-2yznvv8vuGDg-LneWq1lKaF2pCNuZE2zT-ezgAlMqBCNZP-9xo4L3NPTMp23yGopyTIugqxZoNku5ieNvlA5vWFCT1MJEabfwv74coYK2yN4GLC79VJnI6uLYhVtAQ/s5152/DSC00001.jpg)
I will still have to frame the interior with wood molding between the panels and anything on the other side will need to be either pretty small or need to be separate as there will not be enough room to paint otherwise. Framing on the outside will be easy enough but I do not know how I will be doing the windows or the underside of the abdomen yet. Need to have a think before I move on that.
Hope you like.
-
That is cracking mate, love the detail work you've done so far.
-
Wow looking fantastic 8) 8)
-
That cabinet is looking really good, I love it. :o
-
very nice indeed. The attention to detail is great :-*
-
Just a quick update as it has been a busy week with work so I was unable to get much done.
Finished framing the interior/exterior of the abdomen. Still to do are gap-filling, floor/ceiling, window frames, interior details, exterior stowage and detail and build the connection between the body segments. Apart from one element, interior detailing should be pretty quick and easy to do as there will be little actual "building"
Off to some fairly boring photos.

Finished detailing the interior. Added a small desk, shelf and some other items. I have cut the floor but not scribed in lines for the floorboards yet so I did not add it in for the photos.

Oh brilliantly freaky looking. lol
-
That's quite a beastie. I must admit I don't envy you painting all that interior detail.
-
That's downright awesome, that is! :-*
But if he ever takes home a date, that thing might tilt over onto its tail lol
I love all the details you've crammed in; I'd probably would have done the same; onve you pop, you just can't stop, right? Seriously though; how prone is the transport to topple backwards?
-
Thank you all for the nice comments.
I must admit I don't envy you painting all that interior detail.
It is easier than it looks as I have a set system and color palette in place for painting details.
Seriously though; how prone is the transport to topple backwards?
Funny enough at the moment it is not. It is a combination of the weight of the legs and plastic parts in the front two sections and the forward leaning stance. We shall see if it holds up once a roof and details are added. Worst case scenario, I will find some place to fit ballast on. lol
-
This is going to be amazing, weird, and cool all at the same time. I can't wait to see how it will finish out! :o :-*

-
Really enjoying this one :)
-
This build and the work put in it is phenomenal
-
This might be my favourite project at this stage of the BSC. It's excellently weird, a fantastic use of the commercial leg bits, and I can't wait to see what the next round of building brings us!
-
Just another update.
I had some ho scale photo etched fencing left over from another project that works nicely to make a cage. This was set on the side of the abdomen. The bottom of the cage comes off so it can be painted and some more details added. A plaster cast crate was also added on.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP46_1tfuAM5tjdUm1AJvb9B9sXQ255cPpt_dlsNCYRwuWT4_7D1i5DQ1pr6cwbE3hEpeVrLCd6485SIkRZz0hEQ7irBxXw11dadagMUZy2H_s3kqq6yaH4iuhWlQHQuN9ZeMnvBg-ktnLxWaJgfmXyh83HQHF881E_syzTvf4cDFWeIA2Pgzr9QMQSYA/s2592/DSC00018.jpg)
A hirst arts barrel was added onto the side with a small mount and another plaster cast crate.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkLu5OggTZYJYjeHjx6-wpVTt_eAXN0XLUoaZ3R_m6GWbHYnPnp7uSfJtCYCtXNavRQ7-tKMSLNhLo0J60Dfx6eS6E6TsIMCg6VR9jSD2Oy9nDM4ZCTj5HYN1REAjLP8gi1y2IorTUYggDy423vNTNpj0zd0vlOSd3tQAs7SG4MjPWpTh3eYgYUsXktHc/s2592/DSC00019.jpg)
Some resin and plaster cast sacks were added onto the top of the thorax.
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBha8rWmkPUhlPsGHrLOw-ikWFZrOUnF9tAE6CYkmKqIpfASQ2f0JPfWztAOavJRbDWMmgK5Q-txLM8e40GUK5v012DporZ-Hh5Tu-vWEZL5yNSx8u66zZ-3MgjnXrlDHj3Y8T7jdTOmvqYc9tHkrCFUU2OAWMDC9iMAJJSYxcZJcdPzYaWQ0WDCJwQCo/s2592/DSC00020.jpg)
Two overview shots. I had to use blue tack as the parts are too heavy to stay attached by friction alone.

This ☝️

All the detailing is really amazing. o_o
-
More a piece of art than a scratchbuild; I love it.
-
I love it but also find the idea of a vehicle that moves like a spider to be a bit creepy. ;D
Amazing build :-*
-
what an impressiv build :-*

Real life has been getting in the way of hobby time. Tonight I had some time to do a bit of work.
The abdomen looked a bit off hanging out in space. I decided to mount a unicycle wheel underneath it on a swivel and I added some steps leading up to the interior.
I am hoping that I will be able to get some more time in this week to finish up the roof on the abdomen and add some more exterior details. It may not sound like much but with how work has been the last two weeks, I am not sure how much time I can spend on it.

Nice additions.
Wishing you copious amounts of free time to finish the build.
-
Beats anything I could do into a cocked hat!
And that is before you paint it. :o
-
Genius addition to an already cracking build.
-
Hang in there; the final days in these competitions are always the hardest!
Your build is just awesome and crazily unique; it's truly weird and fits the setting perfectly 8)
Here's to hoping you will be able to finish in time! :)
-
lovely, begging for a window box...
-
The unicycle wheel gives it a dash of whimsy and certainly fixes that "hanging out there" vibe. Loving this, and also hoping it gets done in time. Such a unique build...!

I hope you get this finished - its a winner :-*
-
Thank you all for the nice words. I managed to get more done this weekend so I may have the primed final build photographed by this weekend.
The unicycle wheel gives it a dash of whimsy and certainly fixes that "hanging out there" vibe.
I had to wrack my brain a bit to work out a solution as it did not look balanced and it was way too late to work on a smaller version.
-
It's got a certain Myazaki vibe and the unicycle wagon wheel just reinforces that. Might result in spilled ink in the wizard's study, though!
Really enjoying seeing this come together, can't wait to see the interior all painted up.
-
I still a have a few bits to add However, I managed to zenith prime the model so you can get an idea about where I am going with it.

I do mate, it is very characterful. Oddly I get a bit of a canal barge vibe from it.
-
Love the shark jaws...! It looks amazing and can't wait to see it all painted up. Spectacular build...!! :o :o

That is glorious and slightly unsettling. This is going to be such a great BSC run!
-
Brilliant! Well done.
-
As ever, brilliant concepts and attention to detail.
-
Crazy concept and very well done! Your scratch-building skills are top notch!
-
Imagine seeing that crawling your way through the snowy ruins... :o
This is such a cracking build; can't wait to see it painted!

that's a point... that wheel needs some chains for grip...
-
Meh; it's there for support, not traction after all.
That being said; chains wrapped around the wheel would of course add at least 2 extra levels of cool...
-
Thanks for the nice words all.

Along with fifteen levels of difficulty. lol
Edit: Just started painting. I decided that it did not really "need" anything more at the moment.
Good luck all, this years comp has been fun to watch.
-
You are correct -- this has enough cool for this space-time continuum! :D
I can't wait to see this all painted up. It is going to be difficult to beat... :-*

It looks really good, I'm sure it will look even better painted. Can't wait to see the end result. :)
-
Mine is submitted. Craptastic paint, poor photography and all. Good luck everyone. It has been a great competition with some wonderful work from everyone.

Excellent stuff Snitchy. I got mine submitted yesterday, which I am still suprised by; I was certain I would be busily trying to get photos done Sunday night.
-
I look forward to seeing it painted….lots of imagination there, great build!
-
I really like this build, it's sort of one of the ideas I originally toyed with but done so much better than I could manage.
-
Thanks for the nice words all. Paint is where I always fall flat on my face. In this case, I think my attempt to
paint distressed wood failed spectacularly and it ended up a bit busy with all the excess baggage. I am guessing that it is out on the first vote. However it will give me a great centerpiece for a custom scenario.

I think you are selling yourself short (maybe we are all a bit guilty of that...), since your whole entry from design through execution, is really amazing.
-
Agreed! Of all the builds, I am most looking forward to seeing this one painted up. It is certainly one of the most imaginative in the contest of incredibly imaginative builds...! :-*
