1st Westphalian Infantry Regiment, led by Baron von der Osten-Sacken. A Sharp Practice steampunk adventure, inspired by @johnsavage.bsky.social’s Battle of Dorking game. Those dastardly Prussians are now attacking the land of milk and honey.

What, they've brushed aside the Welsh and have invaded Gloucestershire already? :o

The Prussian Invasion of Wales 1875 - 4th Prussian Foot Guards Regiment. The Prussians will be conducting a 3 pronged air, sea and land invasion of South Wales, jumping off at Fishguard, up the Carmarthen estuary at Llansteffan and at the strategically positioned Abergavenny “The Gateway to Wales”.

You english and your funny views 😏🙄

Excellent! Though they should be warned that it never ends well for invasions at Fishguard...
In fact, nothing ends well in Fishguard...
If you're interested, the CO of the Pembroke Yeomanry at the time was the 80 year-old Lt Col Charles Frederick Baron de Rutzen. He was actually the Graf von Ruetzen of Bavaria, but in 1821 had met Dorothea Phillipps (of the powerful Phillipps family of Picton Castle) while on the Grand Tour in Italy. They immediately eloped and were married in 1822, though were welcomed into the Phillipps family and given Slebech Castle. The Baron then filled the grounds with bear, wolves and boar (!) for hunting and when he was given command of a troop of the Pembroke Yeomanry, modelled it on a regiment of Prussian Hussars. He then extended this idea when he took command of the regiment in 1874 (which was expanded to four troops at the same time). He proved to be an extremely popular and respected member of the upper-crust, though clearly rather 'eccentric'... He might make a good character for your campaign. :)

Now that is a bit of history that I can weave into the scenario
I also have Fishguard’s most famous mayor on the painting table, Mr Kenny T

lol
I thought you'd like it. :)
Re Mr Kenny T; a mate was the mayor of Fishguard when that was on the TV and wore a badge with that name on it... lol
Another interesting fact is that the father of Mr Huw Puw (the anchorman for 'Lookout Wales'), Mr Huw Puw Senior, was a war correspondent for The Fish Guardian during the 1938 Very British Civil War in Little England Beyond Wales...

Being Welsh, I obviously love your inclusion of sheep, especially now that I live in Abergavenny, however, cattle used to be my preference having lived in Carmarthen for the first 19 years of my life.

Oh, I am sorry... ;)
If it's any consolation, I was forced to be educated (and cadeted) in Carmarthenshire (Whitland).

England vs. Prussia? Ain't that just another family feud? 8)
Interesting premise. I'll be watching (well, reading, actually)to see what happens...
-
Two cousins have a fight. And then they invited the Welsh
How fun! lol

England vs. Prussia? Ain't that just another family feud ?
Not the English, it’s Wales you bloody colonial
-
lol What's the back story to the Prussians invading the principality other than to prod the lion?

Indeed lol

Sounds a great idea, can't wait to see the Pembrokeshire Yeomanry figures.
I was toying with the idea of making a British yeomanry/militia army for c1876 in 28mm, but never got round to it.

Correction: I was forgetting that while Baron de Rutzen was born in Bavaria, his titles and estates straddled East Prussia, Poland, Lithuania and Courland. Following the Fourth Partition of Poland in 1815, most of them were absorbed into Russia and there is some suggestion that he was actually on the staff of the Russian Embassy in Rome when he met Dorothea Phillipps, though he's usually referred to as 'Prussian'.

As its a steampunk adventure, the buggers are after our coal to fuel the Prussiia’s engines of destruction

It’s basically Dorking with a Welsh twist

The Prussian Invasion of South Wales 1875 - Prussian Infantry Support Gun. Being an invasion force, the German Confederation is lacking its big guns, therefore they are reliant on speed and the heavy firepower which their steampunk war machines bring to the battlefield.

Lovely looking collection mate :-*

Lovely truppen! :D
-
A. Lovely Prussians you've done up there. But by 1875, ain't they all Germans? ;D
B. Pardon my Geopolitical faux paus. I'm tempted to say something along the lines of "English. Welsh. Same thing only different.", but that would likely just get me further in trouble... ;)
C. You may have shown them to us previously, but will we be seeing the WELSH at some point?

Very good, then. I'll sit quietly in the corner, reading up on Welsh-English geopolitical relations...carry on! 8)

If any such relations are discovered, they'll be disowned by the rest of the family... ;)

I sincerely hope that you've embraced the strong cross-dressing theme of our historical resistance movements...? ;)
Nothing is going to frighten a Pomeranian Grenadier more than an angry and somewhat confused hill-farmer wearing the contents of his Mam's knicker-drawer...

Thanks for that visual... :o
Pardon my geographical ignorance, but I've not yet visited Wales, nor have I read much up on it. I have visited Ireland (the Republic) and Scotland, read up some on them, and enjoy their folk music. As such I have these observations:
One is a land divided by a political boundary and religion, another by cartographical altitude. Both trace celtic roots and like to drink (whiskey and various forms of beer in one, and whisky in the other). And they both tend to fight amongst themselves, but will choose sides (often both) when others are involved. Both can use a nearly indecipherable language, and when speaking English, their accents can be equally indecipherable, depending on from where they hail. Simple enough. Maybe too simple?
Were I to read up on Wales and/or pay it a visit, what observations might I make?
