1st Westphalian Infantry Regiment, led by Baron von der Osten-Sacken. A Sharp Practice steampunk adventure, inspired by @johnsavage.bsky.social’s Battle of Dorking game. Those dastardly Prussians are now attacking the land of milk and honey.

What, they've brushed aside the Welsh and have invaded Gloucestershire already? :o

The Prussian Invasion of Wales 1875 - 4th Prussian Foot Guards Regiment. The Prussians will be conducting a 3 pronged air, sea and land invasion of South Wales, jumping off at Fishguard, up the Carmarthen estuary at Llansteffan and at the strategically positioned Abergavenny “The Gateway to Wales”.

Excellent!  Though they should be warned that it never ends well for invasions at Fishguard...

In fact, nothing ends well in Fishguard...

If you're interested, the CO of the Pembroke Yeomanry at the time was the 80 year-old Lt Col Charles Frederick Baron de Rutzen.  He was actually the Graf von Ruetzen of Bavaria, but in 1821 had met Dorothea Phillipps (of the powerful Phillipps family of Picton Castle) while on the Grand Tour in Italy.  They immediately eloped and were married in 1822, though were welcomed into the Phillipps family and given Slebech Castle.  The Baron then filled the grounds with bear, wolves and boar (!) for hunting and when he was given command of a troop of the Pembroke Yeomanry, modelled it on a regiment of Prussian Hussars.  He then extended this idea when he took command of the regiment in 1874 (which was expanded to four troops at the same time).  He proved to be an extremely popular and respected member of the upper-crust, though clearly rather 'eccentric'...  He might make a good character for your campaign. :)

Now that is a bit of history that I can weave into the scenario

I also have Fishguard’s most famous mayor on the painting table, Mr Kenny T

lol

I thought you'd like it. :)

Re Mr Kenny T; a mate was the mayor of Fishguard when that was on the TV and wore a badge with that name on it...  lol

Another interesting fact is that the father of Mr Huw Puw (the anchorman for 'Lookout Wales'), Mr Huw Puw Senior, was a war correspondent for The Fish Guardian during the 1938 Very British Civil War in Little England Beyond Wales...

Being Welsh, I obviously love your inclusion of sheep, especially now that I live in Abergavenny, however, cattle used to be my preference having lived in Carmarthen for the first 19 years of my life.

England vs. Prussia?  Ain't that just another family feud?   8)

Interesting premise.  I'll be watching (well, reading, actually)to see what happens...
