Title: Ratnik Steampunk figures
Post by: Elprez on April 11, 2010, 10:23:40 PM
I know Miniaturicum is supposed to be getting the lovely steampunk figures produced by Ratnik for sale in the EU sometime in the future, but if anyone would like to torture themselves by gazing on pictures of what I think is the full range previewed so far, I have posted them all on a seperate page on my blog.

http://extraordinarygentlemensjournal.blogspot.com/p/ratnik-steampunk-miniatures-pictures.html (http://extraordinarygentlemensjournal.blogspot.com/p/ratnik-steampunk-miniatures-pictures.html)

I've collected together the pictures from here and on Frothers.
If anyone knows of any I've missed, let me know, and Ill add them.

I believe Bungle from Frothers is planning on supplying the other ranges from Ratnik to the UK,
including modern, fantasy and treasure island types.
(Oh, and I've no connection to Ratnik or any of the proposed distributors, I just like the figures.)

Shhhhh... so do I  ;)

Metal figure production costs a disproportionately high amount for Ratnik compared to resin....its the other way around in the UK.

So the plan is to make the figures available in metal. I think Miniaturicum will have the full ranges available first in resin (quite soon too) but if you would prefer metal the plan is for the ranges to become available in time..... cast under liscence in the UK.

We will see how it goes....

My apologies Bungle, I had no idea you planned to have the Steampunk figures in metal available from the UK.
Didn't intend to tread on anyones toes, just keen to see the Ratnik figures available.
I'll amend my blog page with the full details.
Chuffed you'll be supplying them in metal,  :D

I haven't posted about it on here because I did not want to tread on Miniaturicums toes.

I would welcome a chat with him.

BTW

add these

US distributor....it depends on how the money works out and what Igor wants. But wait and see what P&P is from the UK or Germany.

Yeah, they have that 'high-end' look about them. I hope they don't price me out of the market.

I spend no more than 2 or 3 pounds on character figs and 1 or 2 pounds on regulars....

I hope the casts come out nice.  The sculpts are simply excellent.

No question I'll be picking up some of these as they are simply the best I've seen for this type of VSF! :-* :-* :-* :-*

The UK company supplying these in metal will be Ursa Major Miniatures, but the website isn't ready yet.

First releases will apparently be the moderns then dwarfs...but they are hoping to get everything transferred to metal, so even when the website is up, we'll still have to wait a while for the steampunk stuff we all want, but they are nice, so it'll give me time to save my pennies. :)

This is a mistake, if you ask me! Their steampunk stuff sets them apart- it is of a much higher quality than the other stuff, and in much greater demand- they should be rushing these ranges to get them out their ASAP- these will be bank rolling any future plans they have for years to come.

as to the cost- I usually limit myself to 3-4 GBP per mini, but for these I would push the boat out, as long as they don't take the pee.

@ Rob - I'm not so sure. While I personally love the steampunk figures, it may be that the market is smaller for them than the other ranges?

Theres plenty of interest for the other ranges on other forums. Or maybe the other ranges from Ratnik have more figures available and ready to go at present?

Personally, I'll probably pick up odd figures from the sci-fi range, and, based on the releases revealed so far, at least one of each of the steampunk figures. Great characters, all of them,  :).

I have no interest in the moderns, dwarves or the treasure island-types, but I'm sure they'll go down well with other people. The sculpting on all the Ratnik figures is distinctive, and very, very nice.

At least plans are now in place for them to be available outside Russia,  :D

I love the steampunk minis and will probably get one of each, slowly, but surely.

As for other things, the same guy did some Napoleonic Dwarves, and I would love to get some of them.

OG please!  lol

But, as with Hasslefree and Ironclad, I'm prepared to pay their prices for one-off "character" models but not for large units like you have to with GW. For units you need to look at Perry prices. Pretty hard to beat considering the quality of the sculpts and the clean castings.
