Title: Painted Hinterland
Post by: Mancha on May 16, 2010, 10:37:14 PM
Hi All,

I finally finished painting my Hinterland, firing line, so I thought I'd post some updated pictures.  Here's the Princess, with new flowery base:

Here's the Unit Builder pack, in matching blues:

(This, of course, is a cleverly Photochopped picture of the two minis I painted.  If I'd painted all six in the pack, it would have taken me another three months to finish them. ::))

Finally, a couple pictures of the Firing Line pack, in a WWI color scheme:

I finally increased my S&H costs a little, so as to deal with reality.  In many cases, I was actually paying more for postage than I was collecting.  Sorry.   :'(

By the way, this is also my first experiment with Siflor tufts and flowers.  What do you think?

What an interesting take using the WWI colours :-*  The flowers work for me too.

I have only got as far as undercoating mine :'(

Wow, I love the WW1 colours.

I am planning on seeing what the great war in England is like (the book) as, if my idea of what it is is right, I'd like to base some games on it. Uniforms in those sorts of colours, but of victorian cut, mixed in with a tiny element of ww1 and crazy vsf.  :)

The models look great and so do the bases... Flowers is not something I typically would like on a base for a wargaming miniature, but it fits with the models and maybe they are defending the princess in her flower garden or something.

 :D

Also I wouldn't have minded to pay more in S&H, I think it is only fair that it is raised to actual cost.

So please make more interesting models and I will surely return as costumer, I might even return anyway but I still have all three packs unpainted.

Thanks for the positive feedback.  The command pack greens are about 80% finished, so it shouldn't be long now before there are additions to the Hinterland line.

I don't have any Renegade, so I can't answer your question exactly, but here's a scale picture:

I would say they're about like other Paul Hicks sculpts, if you happen to have any on hand.

Cool Miniatures Mancha, especially the world war one examples.  I wouldn't mind writing an article on them for the blog at some point if you don't mind.  That and if I can figure out how to do a decent yellow I might add some more and paint them up as a Spanish army.

Again, thanks for all the positive feedback about the minis and my paintjobs.

I wouldn't mind writing an article on them for the blog at some point if you don't mind.

That'd be fun.

Following archangel1's advice from the thread below, I purchased them from Scenary Express.

Please do, Greywolf.  Feel free to post pics in this thread, if you wish.  (Although I suspect the more Hinterland threads there are, the better for me.   ;))

Smashing. Sorry to be distracted by things on the periphery, but what are the flowers made from? I love the look of flowers on bases, but don't know how best to make them. Can you buy them, just like other basing materials?

As Argonor said, they are also Siflor.  I bought a flower variety pack, which comes with flowers in about six colors.  The Scenary Express website shows what they look like in the packaging and how to use them.

By the way, I bought the Siflor buffalo grass variety and am finding many of the tufts too large to use.  Is this true of all Siflor stuff, or did I buy the wrong item?
