Great, I loved that part of the comicbook, please keep us posted :)
-
Excellent idea and it looks great so far. Is the toy official Dredd merch?
-
That's a fine looking model there Steders, very big too, I suppose you'll have to clear a few old aliens out to make room for it... o_o
-

it was made by Matchbox as part of the Adventure 2000 range... I think it's appearance in Dredd was just a marketing thing...
-
I KNEW 'Land Raider' was not an original name. I just couldn't remember where I'd seen it before lol
-
Dagnabbit, he beat me to it. lol
Looking great; can't wait to see the finished item. Did you use a blister dish for the front canopy?
-
Nice builds there mate, well done!!
-
looking great mate
:)
-
A great build idea from a great early Dredd story. I also clearly remember the original toy ! Love to see the progress. Poultryhen. :)
-
I don't remember the 2000AD story or the toy, but I have a diagram of that vehicle from an old White Dwarf JDRPG adventure... the team has to go to Atlanta I believe.
It's a lovely job you're making of it - a detailed 'how to' would really be appreciated, for those of us who aspire to make great models but have little talent!
-
Now that's a die-cast I've not seen in ages, thanks for reviving some childhood memories !
-
I can't believe your land raider is in such good condition, my old one must be in a right state if I still have it
-
They also did a car with wings popping out, i have the three in my loft, no box, but in good nick, just checked my loft, they also did a "shado mobile" type one with the roof popped open to fire a missile, i could take a picture if you like
-
Excellent.
-
They also did a car with wings popping out ...
You mean Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? :D
Really nice build job.
-
I had it too and remember that you could 'fire' the front vehicle from the killdozer in a mortar/piat fashion! :D My cousin still has the 'INCOMING' scar to prove it! :D
Nicely done Stedley old chap.
The Commander
-
Thanks all, yes it is a blister pack for the canopy. I got the tracks on the killdozer last night, I'll try and take some photos later.
-
Very cool modelling Stedley.Nice recycling too with the blister packaging.
-
I think the superlative that applies here is...Zarjaz! Splundig Vur Thrigg!

Great, clean work! It's obviously spot on to the original, and the only criticism I would dare to utter would be that the design looks a bit "weak-legged", i.e. it could do with some more road wheels or rollers. Not your fault, obviously.

Agreed, Pete PM me and I'll send you some spare GW IG track wheels I've got knocking about.

The tracks look spot on - nice job Pete.
:)
-
Tanks again, I'm going to leave the tracks 'as is'. It looks more like the 'real' thing. I'll put some more photos up later, I've done all of the panels details on the killdozer
-
That is really briliant stuff Steders. Can't wait to see it painted up.

I remember playing with these as a kid (and I'm 41 now).
Nice work on the reconstructions.
I used to use my Land Raider/Killdozers up into the RT days, I have no idea what happened to my ones though.
I'm starting to think more than just my Wood Elves, Genestealers and some neat WW2 1/35 bunker terrain went missing in that house move.

This is why I always pack up my stuff and move it BEFORE the missus starts poking her nose into any boxes... ::)

Not the landraider/killdozer
just bikes

Just saw this thread and had an almighty flashback when I saw the vehicle lol :D
Keep up the good work and heres a link to the rest of the range....

Fantastic work so far. Brings back fond memories of playing with those.

Are those bikes old Citadel stuff?

A real blast from the past.

And really glad to see that you are resurrecting it.
It is gonna be great!
:D
-
Nice to see this back on the table Peter.
I found my toys of these the other week ;).
-
I picked up a replacement for mine a few weeks back, too.
Tracks were a bit cactus, lacking missile and it was not in box, but for $15 AUD I thought it was still a bargain - especially when there was a diecast toy trader further on selling one (with box, but also without missile AND the canopy was cracked on the cruiser) for $90. Tracks to suit were located and fitted (ww2 half track 1/35).
Ironically, the same week they republished the original cursed earth stories (uncut, complete with burger wars) and it sold out within hours.
-
Is the diecast one at all usable with 28mm or way too small?
-
A bit on the small side, by my reckoning. The figures that come with it on the other hand are a little squatter than 28mm, but still too big!

I know the scale of these vary wildly, but a couple of years ago I bought 2 '1974 Lesney Matchbox Super Kings' transporter trucks for €1,- a piece at a thrift shop. They're intended for use as generic transporters in my Gerry Anderson UFO project (odd how that's been dormant for years and I realize that I just referenced it for the 3rd time this day... ::)).
They're a bit cramped for 28mm figures, but still plausible. So perhaps the above vehicles (not all of them, probably) could still be shoehorned into a 28mm role?

Copies are on Amazon. The uncensored Cursed Earth collection was actually my first bit of reading the comics. I now have Origins, as well as Apocalypse War, with America on the way.

Looks the biz :D

More 20mm than 28mm. So they're a bit small and unimposing next to a bedecked with skulls space marine (although it would put marines into a more realistic proportional sizing ... ).
I've got one of the matchbox transporter race car carriers that is fine for a futuristic campervan in 28mm, though. Gull wing doors and all.

Great stuff 8) 8)
Might I suggest a bit of weathering, damage and rust. Could help to give it that dirty MC1 feel.

Wow that's great :-* :-* :-*
-
Holy spugging drokkers that's fantastic!
-
Superduper awesome work! 8) And to think this is a complete scratchbuild makes it even more impressive.
I have to echo Mr. Bibbles' suggestion about the weathering though; that would turn this build all the way up to eleven! ;)
-
Just brilliant :-*
-
:o :o
A great build taken to a superb finish.
Seriously impressive.
:-* :-*
-
Amazing.
-
"Ooh, I get so excited just looking at its multi-level kill power!"
-
Jaw droppingly awesome.
-
Fantastic! :o I was just reading the story with this vehicle the other week! That's a great rendition!
-
spot on. amazing.
-
I can't quite get over that's by Steders... ;)
great work, mate.
-
VERY nice. I remember the old Matchbox model - you's looks so much better 8) 8) 8) 8)

Top job!
Well done!

Lovely stuff.

I don't know how many times I've watched a thread by Dwartist and thought 'if I could get it to that point I'd be happy'. I'm sort of 'at that point' and I'm bothered that my half bothered attempts at weathering would cock it up. So, I'm probably just going to leave it for now. I've got a load of other vehicles to paint up and who knows how adventurous I'll get.

Fair doos :)
Indeed.
Very much looking forward to seeing what is next on the production line.
:D
-
Straight off the assembly line into the fray!
If history is anything to go by, that'd be completely plausible, obviously... :D
-
6/10,average effort! lol
-
Bravo..... I had the original die cast toy and loved it literally to bits. Great to see it reincarnated.
I know it featured in JD, however the original corgi version had a rocket launcher on top of the commander vehicle. Just a small one. Sort of TOW type thingy.
Anyways, brilliant!
-
Great work.
-
DROKK!
That's fabulous.
Love the yellow on the judges as well. Are they Mongoose or Foundry?

It was matchbox(tm) not Corgi - part of their "Adventure 2000" line.
Corgi had a lot of other SF related and licenced toys, though.
