Hi there,
started a fantasy project recently - well, probably just another project I will never finish... ::)
...anyway: here is the first bunch of minis I managed to complete. Some goblins. Want to use them in a miniature-oriented dungeon crawl game. Or a micro-skirmish game with a retro-style-rpg taste. Or may be I just needed a good excuse to buy these nice figures...
Cheers,
Hagen

Thanks for the hint! Eight goblins are indeed not enough - even for a micro skirmish. I have another hasslefree goblin archer yet to paint - and after that I will need more :) . I'll check for the AA goblins...

They have the Lesser Goblins and Mountain Orc's to release.I think both of the were Kev Adam's sculpts. The Mountain Orc's are amazing sculpts.
-
:-* Lovely little guys! Great paintjobs and very nice and gobliny minis! Don't have any of these myself, how do they rack up with other 28mm minis? They look big, but that's probably because of a lack of reference. =)
-
Here is a link to some of Alternative Armies Goblins. These ones used to be River Goblins if I remember correctly.I have them on order along with the others I mentioned above.

:o They are truly fantastically well painted :-*

Kev Adam's sculpts sounds perfect. I have to admit that I am quite new to the fantasy side of the mini hobby. So lots of treasures of the past yet to be discovered!

No, they just look big - standard goblin size I guess (I am not a goblin expert though ;)). The bases are 2 euro cent pieces - if that helps. I'll try to post a comparsion pic tomorrow.

I've not been a great lover of your painting style on historicalish stuff Hagan, but it looks absolutely brilliant on fantasy figures :-*
Good luck ;)
-
These are fantastic. Forgive my ignorance, but what manufacturer are they from?
-
Lovely figs indeed and superb paint jobs!
-
@all: thanks for the compliments. Always nice to get a positive feedback... 8)

I think I see what you mean. The painting style might be not so adequate for historicals sometimes. But I am more into non-historical stuff recently anyway ;)

Oh, forgot to mention: all from Hasslefree except the second from left in the top picture. That is from Redbox Games.

:o :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* !!

Very nice Gobbo's. I really like that green color you used for the skin.
-
Very nice! Great miniatures and a great paintjob!
-
Excellent skin tone! Very nice all around. :-* :-*
-
Yes Alternative Armies goblins will go wonderfully with these, give them an email and they might be able to sort you out. Often it is just the paperwork involved which stops them getting put online!
The kinkon goblins are the original goblin river pirates and they are lovely, lovely models!!! :)

What paints did you use ?

I beleive Mannequin also sell some K Adams goblins, not sure where his Nemesis goblins went (ex Bob Olley miniatures- sculpted by K Adams) though but they fit very well with the Hesslefree goblins too

Very nice shades and somewhat glooming colours. I like the light green skin tone a lot. However, not too keen on the miniatures as sculpt, but never mind. Might we expect a battle report?
-
Fantastic paint work, smooth blending, great colors. Thanks for posting them. More please!
-
Black Tree Design has Kevin adam's old Harlequin goblins, that have that cartoony-realism balance quite right too.
-
Thanks again for the compliments :)
@area23, manic_miner, rob_alderman, Lowtardog:
Thanks for the links. That helps as I didn't know that there are still so many Kev Adams goblins available out there (haven't searched...).
Might we expect a battle report?
Hmm. I am a slow painter - so this is a long term project. Here is my plan: I want to start a rpg campaign with a whole Monster Manual painted and ready to go as soon as my son is old enough. My son is 1,5 years now - I have got to hurry! The battle report may take a while though... ::)
What paints did you use ?
Mostly Foundry colors: storm green for the skin (27A, B, C with some white for the highlights and black for the shading), charcoal black for the trousers (34A, B, C), spearshaft for the wood (13A, B, C) and GW metal colors for the weapons (with some wash)...
Excellent skin tone!
Not sure about the skin tone - could be a little more yellowish imho...
...how do they rack up with other 28mm minis?
Here is a comparison pic (sorry for the selection - I don't have any better minis at hand actually). From left to right: foundry, hasslefree, old citadel (or gw? painted in the early 90ies - yuk...) and copplestone

Hope that helps,
Hagen

Ditto to everything that has already been said. I :-* the warm colors/tones on the shield (wood-grain).
Nicely done...
-
Yeah, absolutely lovely painting on some great sculpts. Got to love the Goblinmaster I reckon!
-
They look good. There used to be so many Citadel metal goblins or Marauder now it is plastic everything. Some plastics are great and a good paint job really makes a difference, but I like the variety you get with metal...

Here is a link to the Mountain Orcs. These are now in the web shop of Alternative armies.Lesser Goblins going in next week.

The Kev Adam's sculpts are great. The others remind me of the Leviathan ones.
-
Great looking PJ's. It's hard to make green orcs stand out, but the execution here is wonderful.

I didn't even know AA had rereleased those ones yet!!! :o
Awesome stuff. I love the mountain orcs, bloomin wonderful models that will probably end up in my WHFB O&G army... :)

AA are releasing lots of old miniatures.
My order arrived this morning.Mountain orc three pack which are amazing sculpts.I bought them when they first came out.Might still be in a box hidden some place.
The Lesser goblins are very cool little sculpts too.Eleven little fellows for £6.00 is very good.
Bought a few old school goblins from Gateshead gaming today too.All things orc and goblinoid are finding there appeal again(god help me).
-
Yeah I know they are rereleasing lots of the old stuff, didn't know they had released any recently though!
Yup, eleven for £6.00 is very good!
-
Not sure if it was me asking made them release them or if it was planned.
It would have been great if Kev had done more of the Mountain Orc's.
-
painted in the early 90ies - yuk...

Yuk? I think its pretty. If that's what your "old yuk" style looks like then I have a long way to go.

The gw mini looks way better on the picture than in real life. Believe me - it is quite yuk ;)
