What's with the horrid fake tits? I don't know the background to whatever range this figure comes from, but it is obviously a fantasy world that has breast augmentation clinics!?!

It's a shame, because I love the face on the figure, and I really like your paint job. But those norks just ruin it for me.

@ Captain Blood

Cheers pal

@ Plynkes

Having been on a self imposed stint of celibacy and on the grounds I never watch porn (just does nothing for me) these are the closet thing to knockers I have come to in 4 years.  So augmented or not I really ain't complaining, but I can fully appreciate where you are coming from on that point :)

Model range is the reaper special edition models http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Special%20Edition%20Figures (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Special%20Edition%20Figures)

Just reading the 'nork' issue and noticed another nork problem.
With my medical hat on, I would say the overall shape of each breast is OK, but the nipple position is just way way off....

If a plastic surgeon I know gave any young aspiring models those, he'd be facing a legal action...
You have to look closely to see them as you havent painted them yet, but seriously, they are way way too high....

My god, I just realised Ive had a rant about nipple position on a 28mm figure....
Oh the shame.....

Lovely smooth work on the skintone.

She could have a bit of Elf in her, that could be how Elven tits look, pointing up at the treetops.

Looking like that she may end up with a bit more Elf in her  lol

Well, she DOES have either pointy ears OR some hair pointing out in a weird way...

This is a Werner Klocke sculpt.  I'm not sure if the clothed or nekkid (Naked - no clothes.  Nekked - no clothes and up to something) version came first, but this was one of those apocryphal figures where only a few existed and were the subject of rumor.  The clothed one was of course on sale, but occasionally a nekkid one would show up on e-bay and go for ridiculous amounts.  Then Ron at Reaper decided just before Reapercon 2007 (I think) to actually sell them.

Yay, pointless trivia.

Painting top notch so far, sculpt is very nice - but as previously mentioned the mammaries are unconvincing.

Fair dinkum go away for lunch and look what happens....

Thanks guys, I love painting but I love painting skin, and I love painting female skin all the more :D

She has point ears yes, but she isn't an elf, she is a succubus her wings have been left off for ease of painting and will be attached in due course.

See, that explains all!

yeah. succubs always have silicon tits!

for the position of the nipples... succub child will fly, so they need to lactate from upside.... that's why.

she could also have them on shoulders, but.... you know, she has to seduce lost souls!

EDIT: speaking of succubs: http://pawn.se/Webpages/Comic/Pawn%2001/part_01.htm
a pretty nice comic. drawn by a really talented guy

@ Sangennaru

Thanks mate, love the drawing in that cartoon, stuff like that makes me wish I had pursued art into A-level and further as I was rather good at it when I was younger, sadly I had to choose between Art and my other favorite subject History as they clashed on the timetable.......I know what you mean about the face, although I hope I made a decent job of it, when I looked at the model unpainted I couldn't help but think Victoria Beckam, shortly followed by the involuntary shouting of "DOG"

I went with blonde for two reasons.

Firstly I have only even had one girlfriend who wasn't blonde and although she was a bit of a cracker my personal preference has always been towards ladies with fair hair.

Secondly I didn't wanted the model to look identical to the one on the Reaper website.....be thankful I didn't do her hair red :D

I finished the hair last night I think, I will take a closer look at the model once I get home from work, have kettlebelled and cooked.  I also started on the boots, glove and sword scabbard. Also added a couple more glazes to her bum....i think thats me being a collosal pervert rather than a need to do any more work on it.

the blue leather areas are now done

sadly pictures don't do the blue blends justice.

Gold areas merely basecoated so I could see how it was looking.

I am trying to reinvent my method for painting gold - what colour do you use for basecoat/deep shade/outline for golden areas, please?

It has been more than a year since I last painted gold, and I did some ancient armour for an old GW vampire that turned out well, but I cannot remember how to START painting a gold area - and I have 40 high elves that need golden details...  o_o  ::)

loving the blue leather with gold!
Not sure why but gives her a slightly 30' Flash Gordon feel....
Not sure why as Im prety sure that Buster Crabe didn't look like that...

Really starting to come together, cant wait to see more....
With each figure you paint at the moment, you just seem to get better and better....

You've hit the nail with the skin tone, fantastic work here. Blue and gold are winners, too - good choice. 8)
Apart from the somewhat strange sculpt I can't quite cope with her hair colour. It simply looks a bit too yellow. I myself find it quite hard to get blond hair right, but using 'bone' colours, at least for highlights, usually turns out better than lemon tones. Never mind, maybe next time.
Title: Re: Urban Legend Sophie
Post by: Col. Aubrey Bagshot on 04 October 2010, 07:35:27 AM
OMG! I completely forgot she had wings!
All those shots of her painting in progess with not a hint of a wing anywhere, and then the final shots.... She had come together rather well, with the blue & gold against her skin tone contrasted by the dark wings... very effective combo...

I know what he means abot the hair colour, but then again, if the hair had been lighter, it would have been a very similar tone to the skin colour...and having that darker yellow.blond, contrasts with the blue very well... and as for the base.... those new bits a greenery are rather effective what?

A triumph sir!

I have heard, but not got around to trying myself (will do on my high elves), that Khaki is a good starting point for blond hair - working up with bone colours.

I do not perceive the hair on this mini as blond, though, more a light brown or 'straw golden'. I think I have seen girls/women with hair not much unlike this. It does not strike me as wrong.

But then, I live in a country with MANY different shades of light/blond hair, and my screen colour settings may be different from yours  :)

@ Basiliscus

Sadly I have already tried, photobucket removed the picture as it violates their code of conduct......

@ Mad Doc Morris

Thanks alot Doc.  I can see where you are coming from with the hair colour, however thats down to the picture, it is a dirty blonde colour to the naked eye, not sure why it has gone so lemon yellow in the picture. But you can only comment on what you see in the pictures provided.  I will have to let Col. Aubrey Bagshot see it in the flesh and comment on it as he lives sort of near to me.

@ Col.Aubrey

Senile dementia is setting in? Want me to put an order for some Tena Lady Incontenance Pants :P  I was thinking dark wings myself but Turrou suggested the ever so slight red tone to them, not sure if it stands out in the picture as the background is red but it works wonders when you see it in person.  With regards to the hair I will let you see her in the flesh mate so you can tell everyone how it looks to the naked eye.  Those dead leaves are absolutely brilliant and the poisoned ivy O M G best investment I have made in a while.

@ Argonor

Straw golden/dirty blonde was the exact colour I was going for a, pictures do make it look a little lemon though.

Yes the poison ivy is from army painter, I brought it direct from Holland, and it is well worth the money.  Leaves are.....not sure I found them in a local model shop after having paid £8 for the tinyest box of perfect leaves (about 100 leaves in the box) I found these £1.85 for 4 cubic inches worth, although they aren't as perfect i came to thinking why would dead leaves lay on the ground be perfect....I actually prefer them to the hellishly expensive ones............

if you don't want, you can find eves from antenocity, as well as the cheaper ones, the organic ones... perfect for making the ground... on those you can put three or four of the expensive ones!

look for brass etched foilage: http://barrule.com/Workshop/scratch%20builders%20paradise/leaves,%20feuilles,%20blatter,%20fogli.html
pretty expensive, but half than in your store... :)
you can find also the leaf litter, the cheaper one, nice quality, if you need few of them you can choose the best and trash the others, pretty slow but still cheap! :)
