needs numbering, but i have to crosscheck with my other tanks so i don't use an old number..
-
Nice! Whats with the head?
-
Enemy trooper ::)
a side effect from having a load of Mantic zombies lying on your table when you kit out the tanks,
i'm desperately trying not to make a aid-station for vietnam games.. :-X
-
Forget the severed head, just why is that Sagger painted white???????? :)
Nice work BTW.
-
new straight out of the box lol
i dunno really, i saw one painted white somewhere and it's kind of stuck with me..
now that you pointed it out i may have to go back and change it lol
Thanks :)
the extra machinegun is a PKM btw, since the BMP-1 is useless against anything higher up, i figured it was a believable field-mod...
-
A great modification on the BMP-1 CS. Lovely colours too.
Helen
-
Thank you Helen :)
Colours are, if anyone wants to know,
reflective green with a black green wash (Vallejo)
Tausept ochre (GW) overbrushed with iraqi sand (vallejo)
black.. ::)
all covered with MIG tritonal filter.
no powders just drybrushing for dust effect
-
Wow, BMP-1! I was driving it (officialy even commianding!) during my military service! Although I had no head sticked on the antenna ;)
Believe it or not these are still being used by polish mechanized infantry ;D
Very cool paintjob - striking!
-
thanks :)
You drove one, impressive, i've got a mate that testdrove either a 1 or a 2 here in sweden, says it was one of the best wagons he'd driven :)
maybe you could answer a little something that's been nagging me, how many people do you get in one
there are bids on everything from 7+crew to 11+crew* depending on where you look, my mate never really explored "facts for gamers" lol
(*it's the same with the BMP-2)
-
I can be sure only on BMP-1 but I suppose BMP-2 can take same amout of men:
BMP-1 can take whole squad which is 8 soliders in the back + 1 driver (front hatch) , 1 gunner (tower) and 1 commander (second hatch).
Not sure what are these vehicles in the real combat but they were designed for fighting in post-nuclear conditions (and I am serious):
- whole crew was equipped with OP-1 (veeeeery uncomfortable hazmat suits)
- the vehicle in amphibious
- aaaaaand the cherry on the top: it has installed anti-radiation pressure device: when it gets into radiated zone the device pumps high pressure air inside so no radiation can get inside! Similar thing works in surgery rooms to prevent germs from getting it :)
-
excellent, thank you :)
i don't even think the osprey on them gives a clear answer, altho i might have missed that in my hunt for pictures :D

I think I know this one! Three. One to turn hold the light bulb and two two turn the ladder around.
...
Hang on... I think that was the answer to 'How many Norwegians does it take to screw in a light bulb?'. Sorry.
A bonus one just because I think it's actually funny:
Q: How many feminists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: That's not funny.
-
lol lol lol
-
Change it to "one to hold the light búlb" and it makes more sense as a joke.
Very nice BMP-1. As a former Leaopard-1 gunner, I was trained to destroy scores of these. Our good fortune it never came to that.

Q: How many Vietnam veterans does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: You wouldn't know, you weren't there man.....
:D
-
Nice paint job Tomas

It works better like that, doesn't it?
By the way isn't it Leopard-1? ;)
-
Cheers :)
I've got the leopard's to run against even, although in that particular case i think that the 73mm mainguns may prove that quantity has a quality all to its own ;)
How many Soviets does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
5
1 to steal an American bulb,
1 to re-design it into a new Russian Bulb,
1 to die heroicly in an accident while changing the bulb,
1 to ensure that the project remains a secret from the evil capitalists,
and 1 to execute everyone involved in "operation lightbulb," and deny it's existance.
-
Really nice 8)
What scale is it? 28mm?
-
Nice job. I think having a festering, stinking head next to you in the Afghanistan sun would probably attract birds and bugs and not be worth the effect it would have on the locals ;D
-

He. Yes indeed it is. :)

I believe the BMP-2 was down a passenger due to the turret being repositioned and the squad leader was now the vehicle commander, giving a crew of 3 with 6 dismountable infantry (though 7 gets banded about too).
How many women does it take to change a light bulb?
Just the one, but she waits forever for the man who will make the world revolve around her while she holds the light bulb up.

hmm, i think i may have a small bird somewhere in the pile.. :D
Calimero, yep 28mm, Sloppy jalopy one :)
-
Very nice paint job!
The head makes it a tad dramatic lol
As for how many troops it contains, I have no clue, but seen plenty of videos and pics of soldiers simply sitting on top of them. So guess its passenger space + Room up top!
I actually think a few of these things can fit quite a few people in, but there is a difference between the proper amount (making it quick and easy and therefore much more likely you won't suffer horrible amount of casualties on exiting) and the sort of tight squeeze, which would make getting out of that thing deadly if the sh*t hit the fan!
But thats only a guess. In honesty, not sure.
-
Hooray for the production rate! If you keep it going you might even surpass my lame attempts of finishing of minis this year lol
-

quite common yeah, i think it's not the easiest to disembark from..
Sixx, i may have gotten about 150-200 finished + assorted vehicles, not really a good year :(
-
Well given the fuel cells are in the back doors and under the feet of the passengers in the rear , sitting atop the damned thing may appear like an attractive option. Incredibly cramped little buggers too. Doubt that would have been the norm whilst in combat in Western Europoe though.
-
It ws the same with the M113 too wasnt it...at least in vietnam
-
Mine rupture and spalling were the biggest factors with the M113 IIRC. Oh. that and the climate. Spend any length of time rumbling around in an aluminium box on a hot day and it's amazing how nauseated you can feel.
-
Nice model. Not sure about the head, but wonderfully done.
Q: How many Surrealists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Fish
-
What does a surrealist call his father?
....... Dada.
