As I've said in the past I'm not the best photographer in the world (hence my lack of pics on the forums) but I decided to bite the bullet and take some pics of my pulp stuff before I pack it away for the cross country move.
Here's a few of my Copplestone hero types.

Please be gentle.

I think you did a great job with them.
The only thing I would suggest is maybe a highlight (or brighter highlight) on the clothing. But the painting itself is clean and crisp. And I think the bases look awesome.
-
Thanks Rich. I kinda pride myself on the drab subtle highlight. ;)

They look crackin'

Here's a few more:

The lighting's a little hit and miss but I'll get it eventually. ;)

About time indeed!! And the wait was worth it. Those are really good, mate. Some more highlights (maybe you've highlighted then and the camera is not showing that) would make them even better, but the painting is so clean that the painting is more than effective. Great stuff.
By the way... is that single rifle (leaning against the crate) a copplestone one?
-
Thanks Dimitri old friend. :)

Indeed it is. That objective marker was inspired by some of the Prof's work.

Sure thing, Todd! :) Looking forward to some battle reports with your miniatures.
I see. Was it part of a MG Blister or is Mark selling them separately as well now?
-
I will post some AARs once I get back and settled in Ottawa. :D
That rifle was from the MG pack. Good eye. I dunno why Mark doesn't sell weapons packs. He'd make a killing.

He's probably too busy with Glory of the Sun! :D The "why" escapes me!
-
Very nice indeed, looking forward to many more mate,

Great looking minis.
-
They look really good to me. :-*
Photography is a hobby all on its own. I have ruined many a good paint job (in my opinion) with crap photo skills :'(
My only suggestion would be to expand your pallet a bit and add in a few more colours. I am afraid your figures are a little samey (if thats a word).
-
Thanks for the kind words folks.

Most of my paintjob colors were influenced by other folks like Grimm and the Prof, so I guess we're all a little samey-same-same. I wasn't too worried about sameness because from my research there was only so many shades of brown, grey, beige and khaki clothes back in those days. My fear of vibrant colors means things like painting pretty much anything Japanese (samurai, anime, etc) will never happen. lol

Good to see your handiwork Todd. They look very tidy. Just the part.
:)

I prefer a muted palette myself. Excellent figures! :-*

Here are some of my pulp heroes and villains for my Egyptian inspired locale. I painted a second set of my re-occurring heroes in Egyptian basing. :D

And finally, some tomb items (from Reaper):

Your models are VERY WELL painted, way over "tabletop" level.
Now, about your tomb items (enter sarcasm mode) THEY'RE TERRIBLE! YOU MUST INMEDIATELY THROW THEM AWAY! (and then, tell me exactly where, so I can go and get them ;) - end of sarcasm mode).
Now, seriously, I'm sure you're very proud of all of these pieces, and man, you got DUPLICATES for your heros!
That is another level of involvement, and must be a pleasure to play with your minis and scenery.
Thanks for sharing your work with us.
Best wishes.
-
Love them - I think you've done a great job.
The treasure items look particularly effective.
You will have a great game with these!
-
Yay! Excellent pictures of inspiring minis!
Your collection is really something buddy.
-
Thanks guys. That motivates a fella like you wouldn't beleive. :)

I nearly fell off my chair when I realized you painted two sets of the same heroes, just with different bases lol
If I may give just a tad of (constructive) criticism, I think the tomb pieces could use a bit more colour. Egyptian artefacts usually are adorned with a lot of enamels and coloured stones, especially blue, green, red, black, and sometimes white (alabast). I know it's a heck of a task to do, though - I fear the day I'm beginning to do some of my collected pieces...
Are the mummies Copplestone, too, or are there som Westwind in there?
-

How's that for commitment!? o_o
Thanks for the crit on the tomb peices Argonor. I went with straight up gold for simplicity's sake. Plus the fact players will think "oooo shiney" instead of disregarding all my hard colored stone work. When I was planning on painting these pieces, I did a bit of research and thought "oh gawd" at the work that would be involved.
The mummies are all West Wind. Including the Mummy King figure.
-Todd
-
Heh, yeah. Sometimes painting up terrain pieces is really 'pearls for swine'.
I had a feeling about the mummies, I just couldn't remember how the old Copplestone figs (fig?) look like.
-
Very nice work :-* :-* :-*
Can't believe you painted two versions of the same figure that is dedication.
Where is the belly dancer from? She is very very nice.
I think the gold pieces are great, I really like that colour of gold. Do you have a recipe?
-
Thanks GM. The belly dancer is a Reaper figure.
For my gold recipe, it's all done with craft paints. Base coat is DecoArt Americana "Asphaltum" which is a great proxy for GW Scorched Brown, then a drybrush of DecoArt Metallics "Venetian Gold" and finally another drybrush of DecoArt Metallics "Splendid Gold". Very simple and very effective.

What an inspirational collection! Great job.

Has it really been 4 years since I added anything to this post? lol Well some of you have seen the table set up I posted in my thread for "Gripping Tales of Adventures" ages and ages ago here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=32265.0 so I thought I'd update things a bit with a new terrain piece for my perilous jungle locales.
Originally intended to be one of two treelines to skirt my Vietnam village, I figured it would get much more use in my pulp setting. The base is a pre-cut MDF shape from Tony at East Riding Miniatures.
Pardon the crap pics, but I'm really hating taking pics these days.

Seconded, that looks really good.
-
That look brill!! :-* :-* :-*
So where's all the veg from?
-
:o
Excellent figures the muted tones look almost "noir-esque". Superb.
Thanks
Blofeld
-
Thanks lads!
The veg is from many, many, many years of collecting from pet shops, dollar shops, craft stores, the old GW aquarium re-packaging, and eBay. I started amassing it around 2002 for my ongoing Vietnam War gaming and now have quite a varied selection to cull from. I found some brown creeper vine stalks at Michaels recently that I really like and have went a bit nuts adding to older terrain pieces. Proving that no piece is ever really.... finished. Or that I'm just never happy calling it quits. :D
-
Great stuff all round! :-*
-
you painted 2 versions?! and both very well done IMHO. i can barely handle doing 1.
-
Thanks pistolpete! Yeah, painting two versions of my heroes was a crazy decision, but I was out of work at the time so time was not an issue. Though..... the thought of the work itself seemed daunting, but I convinced myself that the more I paint, the better my skills get. :)

Some really nice stuff there, Todd, well done.

Thanks Prof. That means a lot. :D
