I´m going to post one painted miniature a day in my Strange Aeons related blog http://losingsanity-einarolafson.blogspot.com (http://losingsanity-einarolafson.blogspot.com). I´ll post miniatures from several companies, mainly Uncle Mike´s Worldwide, Black Cat Bases, Rafm, Tengu and every miniature I buy for my games.
The first is the Female Missing Link from Uncle Mike´s.

I suggested on his blog to build a graveyard and a run down chapel to go with it...
That´s the first thing every Strange Aeon player should do, the graveyard, it's a very easy way to prepare a gaming table or the main part for it. I have almost finished the Cript from Uncle Mike's, a lot of Ainsty Casting gravestones, Tegu models, Renedra's... and then some scratchbuilt ones. Cheers.

Sharp stuff....you know, I am going to take up the challenge and paint one mini a day also like you. Once my order arrives from Uncle Mike (just found out in the mail, thanks Mike!) and I am thinking of picking up some other models to add to the collection...

I really love your Deep Ones, especially the spots...how do you do those? Drawing them with a pencil and then use paint to fill them in?
-
I think he just hand paints the dots freehanded.
Great work BTW!
Wished you lived near me, this would be a great looking set of models to play with.
-
I really love your Deep Ones, especially the spots...how do you do those? Drawing them with a pencil and then use paint to fill them in?
Thanks! I painted those freehand spots with a steady hand, pointed brush, paint with the right consistency (a lot of water in it) and patience.
Wished you lived near me, this would be a great looking set of models to play with.
Maybe we can rescue those Strange Aeons games played by posting movements and results every turn here.
Cheers.

:)
awesome work my friend your talent is no limit :)

Another great job! I can't wait until my Black Cat order arrives.
-
WOW ! thats the only thing I can say !! WOW !
-
Yes, WOW indeed! The speed and quality of the paintjobs are incredible! :-*
-
Thanks, glad you like them. I have to say, I paint a lot of miniatures every day but these are being painted between orders (painting miniatures is my job) and I can’t paint one every day, so I’m posting a painted miniature a day, but not the same day I paint it. Sorry if anyone was thinking these are being posted as I finish them. I might finish a Mythos miniature a day but that doesn’t always happen.
Cheers.
-
Amazing stuff and lovely painting :-*
-
Beautiful work.
I'd love to do one a day, but I have the worst time picking colours.
-
Great pod? school? swarm? of Deep Ones.
Like others have commented the scales are top notch. :-*
The tiara on the last deep one looks really great.
The mythos genre seems to be the only genre where tiaras are cool. lol
-
Thanks!!

They are all fantastic, but that checked jacket just takes the biscuit!
:o :o :o
Really glad that you painted this set up, as I have these and you have given me a better idea of how they should look.
Thank you!
:D

More great work. I love them all. :-*
The color choice for the Mi-Go is perfect.

Thanks!!

Thanks. I have got the Black Cat Bases one ready to be painted. Maybe some day I'll buy the Fenris one but I can't afford it right now. I have got the resin dead Mi-Go on the table. Please, don't get me wrong, I love the Fenris Games one, it is a fantastic miniature and when I can I'll buy one.
And today... this is the Black Cat Bases Avatar of Perversion (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_612&products_id=3269). I like this miniature a lot. It's smaller than the Avolakia miniature but it is a different way of approaching this horrible being. I have included a picture showing both.
I´m planning to usem both in my Strange Aeons games. May be I´ll use the Black Cat bases as a less powerful Y´golonac summoning and the Avolakia´s one as allmighty godling.

It is good to see the different companies versions of the Mi-go, I have the Black Cat one that I have not started yet.
What colors did you use to paint the model?
Started to post some pictures last night but my photo's looked like crap so I am going to have to reshoot the images.
-
I am really sorry now... i ordered a bunch of 4m stuff a while ago and didnt like the mi-go from their picutre, seeing yours i really wished i had bought them... same goes for the other mi-go decided against buying it from the official pictures but yours are beautifull!!! I really love all your painting (freehand is mindblowing)...

Yea, I may have to grab a few from EM4 also on my second order. I am working on my stuff now and it is interesting. some stuff is to scale to things like Black Cat (some other minis I have) and others are just small compared to them. Like the Serpent Man in robes and the Detective with the Tommy Gun. I do also try to keep things in perspective that at least with human figures we are are not all the same size in real life so it makes me feel a bit better when I pass some guys in the hallway that are about twice my size (former football players).
-
What colors did you use to paint the model?
I have used Foundry and Vallejo Game Color paints and GW Devlan mud (Vallejo has a new kind of washes, they look the same that GW inks to me).
For the skin: Foundry Conker Brown 54A, Devlan mud, highlight with F. Conker Brown 54A/B/C
Wings: Vallejo Game Color Dark flesh, Devlan mud, VGC darl flesh, VGC dwarf flesh, VGC elf flesh, 50 % elf flesh/ 50% bone.
Wing dots: any very dark brown.
Head: Foundry Raw linen 30A, Vallejo Game Color 50% yellow/50% green inks, F raw linen 30A/B/C, Foundry Boneyard 9B (only some dots in higher places).
I hope that helps.
I´ll take some pictures of the Mi-Gos near human size miniatures for comparisson. I think that the eM4 Mi-Gos are the best because their small size but I´m planning to use the others too. They would be like ants or bees, so I´ll have Mi-Go soldiers, workers, nurses...
Cheers.
-
More great miniatures! Fantastic. :-*
I had not realized the EM4 Mi Go were so small.
I like the smaller Y'Golonac as well.

I seem to remember Lovecraft saying that the Mi Go had ways of modifying their bodies for different jobs and environments, so this is keeping with the theme. :)

I noticed that some of EM4's stuff is very on scale and some things are very tiny. The Detective with Tommy Gun for example is small, but the adventurer with the rifle and shotgun both pair up to Black Cat's line just fine....the Serpent Men are very tiny also compared to other things as well.

Thanks!!
I have taken this picture to show how the Mi-Gos work with Uncle Mike´s miniatures and Black Cat bases miniatures. From left to right: Grenadier/Mirliton Mi-go, eM4 Miniatures Mi-go, Uncle Mike´s Threshold agent, Black Cat Bases Hybrid.

Miniature 34: This miniature is from RAFM, set Motorcycle Cops (http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RAF&Product_Code=RAF02991&Category_Code=COCM). I love almost all the miniatures in the Call of Cthulhu range. I´ll use it as marker for some special scenario.

Well, what can I say, other than that everything looks great. I love you're work and Y'Golonac's skin looks fantastic.
-
Thanks!
Day 35, I have been preparing a Dagonite Kult for playing Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten. I'm still adding members (because I can't stop!!). This is a Four A Miniatures cultist (http://www.fouraminiatures.com/page2.htm), although I have replaced one of his tentacles with a Pulp Figures spare "hand with knife".

Those are just too damn good! :o
Excellent work sir.
-
:-* :-* :-*
More superb paintjobs!
I love that motorbike and sidecar set, but how does it scale up with BCB and UM stuff?
I have four of those Four A cultists waiting for some attention. I will be doing some weapon swaps to make them more usable, too. They are such nice figures that they are worth that extra bit of work.

I´ll take a picture along with UM and BCB stuff for you.
Day 36: This is another cultist for my Mother Hydra Cult, he is from Black Cat Bases, Innsmouth Resident 2 (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_679&products_id=3265) I have used the same colour in all my cultist robes and hoods.

Thank you!
Much appreciated.
That Cultist looks great.
Another one for the list.
Please stop now, as you are making me feel lazy.
At least I got twenty SA figures based and undercoated yesterday.
Not sure when they will get painted though.....
-
Great cultist! I never gave these models a second glance due to the rubish photos on their site but you make them look awesome! :-*
@ Mason could you give us a wip preview? ???
-

I have to say 'Ditto' to that.
I remember the pics of the greens, but einarolafson's paintjobs really brings them to life.
Muuuust. Haaaave. Soooome!
@ Mason could you give us a wip preview? ???
I may just do that!
Starting my own thread may the kick up the Jacksie that I need to keep me moving.
It will most definitely not be a 'mini-a-day' thread, though!
So far, I have managed to assemble and undercoat a few Cultists and just over a dozen Agents/Operatives.
I will be setting most of my SA games in Blighty, though, as my existing scenery collection would best represent the British Isles or Europe, so I have quite a few figures with a British flavour.
-
Europe really neads some Mythos love! I really love to follow your progress... could really help me to focus on my little Mythos warband...
-

What you need to remember in respect to the dulwich detectives range is that they are 25+ years old and 25mm figures, so naturally they'll be out of scale to more modern minis.
Anyway...
Love those Mi-go, really nice colours, feel the need to go back to my all purple ones and cauliflower them up a bit! ;)

True, but some also fall into step nicely with my Black Cat figures....
I also try to keep myself in the mind set that not all people or creatures may be the same size also....

Sorry It´s too late to stop, ;) I have painted more than 20 miniatures (cultists and hybrids, and more coming...)
I would like to see more collections, Cults, Agents and Lurkers from other people. If several of us show their painted miniatures that would be a good way to see a lot of miniatures that maybe we don´t know and we can rediscover some of them again.

Thanks, I remember your thread about painting all those Lovecraftian miniatures, I saw those Grenadier Mi-Gos there and I felt I needed to buy some of them... so thank you!!

That would be good!! Remember that there are several authors that set their stories in UK, Bulgary and some other places in Europe.
Cheers.

Same here, I love to see other people's painted miniatures (good or not so good, that doesn't matter). As soon as I've painted a model, I always post it somewhere to see what people think of it. I have two more painted ones that I still have to post, but that will be after March 31 because I've entered them in an online painting competition and I don't want to spoil the surprise. At the moment I'm busy with three Ghouls and a Ghost.
By the way, I love the squid headed cultist and the hooded one...again, great work and I enjoy watching them a lot.
-
Beautiful updates einarolafson! :-*
They are all phenomenal work, but I'm particularly fond of the motorcycle cops and the Cthulhu cultist.

Working on that. :) At the moment I'm trying to finish some models to play with at the Ducosim convention in may here in the Netherlands. Agents and nasties are waiting on my workbench. :)

Day 37, Another Black Cat Bases miniature, the mad scientist in a wheelchair (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_486&products_id=1633). He will be my Tcho-tcho cult "father/leader". I have several cults in progress, all of them for paying Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten, so I´ll be posting batreps soon.

Another Hybrid for the cult, this time from Rattrap Productions, set Deep One Hybrids I (http://rattrapproductions.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_5&products_id=69). I have taken a picture of Hybrids from different companies. Left: Rattrap, Middle: Black Cat Bases; Right: Black Cat Bases (I think they match pretty well). I have included a picture comparing the motorcycle along with Uncle Mike´s agent and Black Cat Bases Hybrid.

Thanks!!
I would like to post some bat reps as soon as my basic board is finished (it need a bit of weathering but is almost finished).

Yea, I am going to buy some now.

Thanks!! I´m enjoying painting those miniatures a lot!! And your comments are very encouraging!!

I love coming back to this thread every day for more AWESOME ( ;)- Dr tV) paintjobs!
You have inspired me to get on with my own SA project and the brush was actually put to work yesterday with my first Threshold team, working on some cultists now.
Your PJ's on the BCB stuff have made me assemble my first basket of them and a purchase will be made later in the week.
Inspiring stuff!
Thank you!
:-*

keep on rocking!

Still dont care tomuch for the sculpt but i love your painting!

Agreed, a few very iffy sculpts made very yummy indeed.

That last one is great! Would make a good Hybrid or possibly Henchman...I need him for sure! He has a really unsettling feeling about him!

Thanks!!

@black cat bases:
You really should bribe Einarolafson so he will let you use his pictures for your shop... now offense but your pictures suck... you would sell so much more if you showed his pictures!
-
Thanks!! Glad that you like the victim.
Day 42, Being inspired by other LAF members (Styx, Mason...) I have included background in the pictures. This is another Black Cat Bases miniature, Deep one hybrid with shotgun (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_679&products_id=3113).

That is perhaps by far one of the best, the blending of the skin is amazing!
Thanks for the comment on the background, glad I could raise the bar for you. This has been a fun exercise...
-
I really like your flesh painting. The Hybrids, Y'Golonac and the woman all showcase your talents. You've inspired me to try some new tricks with skin molts and coloring. Keep up the great work!
-
I love the victim and the Hybrid...as usual you're painting skills are impressive.
-
They are all great and you have excellent painting skills. The choice of the miniatures is really perfect.
I regularly buy Black Cat Bases miniatures. Most of them are nice and well sculpted some are not but you really bring them to life and I agree that you should suggest Black Cat to use your photos in their shop.

Funny that others are saying the same thing I said on his blog long ago when he first started that he should as BCB to post his pics up of the figures to improve sales. I think it would have changed what I ordered...

Hi we will be putting some new pictures up soon, we are just waiting for Jo's holiday till we get a chance to do this, we have got some new photos for the web site done by a photo studio, but as it cost quite a lot to get a 100 photos done and we have over 2500 products it might be a while ;D.( I always prefer to get new sculpts with my spare money also)
Andres painting is fantastic and he has done a great job with these.

Sounds good Ben, I've often been put off by the website pics only to end up buying the same figures off you at Salute as I can see them in the flesh then. Be good to see the update.
Andres, simply stunning. I haven't forgotten your offer from ages ago, will drop you a pm.

I was thinking the same thing...great model and yet again a fantastic paintjob.
-
You make me want to strip the paint off of my minis and repaint them... :?
-
Thanks!! I´m very happy that you like them. Sorry if I haven´t posted any more miniature since Sunday but I´m moving house and we are having a lot of problems with the new house (the former tenants must have been shoggoth or something like that, I even think that they have left some kind of creatures in the bathroom), I hope that tomorrow a cleaning team (probably trained Threshold Agents) clean everything and fix the problems. I don´t even know where my pictures are so I need some more days before I post something but I´ll post a miniature for every day I have missed.
-
He man sorry to hear it. Good luck with the move and cleaning! Cant wait for more of your lovely stuff!

Day 48, Farmer, this miniature is from Artizan (http://www.artizandesigns.com/prod.php?prod=1768), I posted him one year and a half ago but I´m going to rescue some miniatures and I´ll post them here again. He will be an Agent or a Civilian.

Great stuff! I love the farmer, he is well done! The Lovecrafts are great! I hate I missed out on so many of Uncle Mike's limited edition stuff. The coat on the living Lovecraft is amazing, great texture work.
Someone was to mail me the Santa but I never got it yet (may need to PM him again) and really missed the boat on the King in Yellow, Zombie Lovecraft, Fat Zombie and so much more like the Ghosts...sad panda!
-
:o :o :o
Wow!
That Farmer is amazing!
I have him in the queue to paint up in my next batch. Lovely model.
Having seen yours, I may move him back a bit so he will not look so bad compared to your version.
::)

Your painting style is very good!! Please paint him and post some pictures!!
I´m going to rescue some pictures of scenery pieces that I have made for Strange Aeons. Scenery Piece 1: I'm making a Strange Aeons Board based on the Tunguska event. The table would be full of burnt trunks, mud and some "weird stuff from outer space". This is the first piece.

Well, as you asked so nicely, I will. ;)
I have to paint him soon anyway, as he is the only 'good guy' that I have with a shotgun and I need the option.
He is going to be the Head Groundsman of the M.O.O.S.(E). estate, and as I have already dealt with the other two guys I will have to. The would get up to all sorts of shenanigans without having the boss around..... ::)
He wont look as good as your version, though... :'(

Wow, pure eyecandy again. I didn't even know Uncle Mike did a zombified Agent Lovecraft...great job on both.
The farmer is really amazing, such levels of detail...you could say that I'm quite jealous of your painting skills!
I love the idea of a Tunguska SA board...that first piece of scenery looks very good and most likely sets the mood for anything still to come.

Yea, limited editions I am aware of that I missed:
Crazy Santa with ax
Ghosts
Fat zombie
Undead Lovecraft
King in Yellow
Not sure if I missed anything else....I know the current Lovecraft is in the starter mini kit.
I am so jealous to anyone that got those figures, I sweep ebay at times to see if one will pop up...

I´ll post them again (sometime during the day).
Miniature 49, Dogs from Vendel (they are two but I´ll count them as one) and scenery item 2, the dead livestock.
I posted these pictures sometime ago in LAF but I´ll rescue several things to post them again during this week.
The little idol is from Black Cat Bases, set Cthulhu Sprue (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_612&products_id=2627); and the dead animals are from Warlord Games set Dead Livestock (http://store.warlordgames.com/dead-livestock-1869-p.asp). They have been poisoned by the misterious idol that some strange cultists have put in the middle of the unfortunate farmer´s land. Somebody will pay for that!!
The dogs are from Vendel.

Cultist from Pulp Figures, set Evil Hooded Minions 2 (http://www.pulpfigures.com/catcode.php?range=Wierd%20Menace&code=PWM&number=5&custID=81152451751334155760). Great freehand on the Cultist and the van is just sublime.
Love 'em both!
:-* :-*
EDIT: Just been on your blog to check out the other pictures, and I recommend everyone else does too.
You are missing half the story if you dont!
-
Love these oldies but goodies!
It's nice to have them all in one place for quick reference and to reflect on their awesomeness.
By the way, I used your King in Yellow truck as a reference when I painted my vehicles.
They didn't come out anywhere as nice. :'(

I have seen some of your cars and they are fantastic. I think those Lledo cars are one of the best things I have bought.
Miniature 51: Another rescued miniature from the past. I'll call him "The Prophet" (kind of creature living in the cornfields, Does it sound familiar?). I don't know where I got this miniature from, a shame because I would like to have another one!!

Miniature 53: This miniature is from Artizan, Dr. Curfew (http://www.artizandesigns.com/prod.php?prod=1692). I posted this before on LAF but as I said I would like to post all the pictures on the blog and on the same thread. I´ll use him as warlock.

Wow i really, really love your freehand! You sir are a true master!
-
Aside from your amazing paintjobs, I noticed something funny: thus far you have exactly the same Artizan miniatures as me! lol There are 5 in my collection, from which I have painted 2. Now I'm curious if those other 3 will also pop up here... ;)
-
Really enjoying this thread: I don't have anything profound to say, but I just wanted to add to the chorus!

I totally agree on that one. :)

Well, another great paintjob...I must admit that your paintjobs are my most favorite, I really love your style.
This guy has a really sinister look...maybe I'll also buy him one day.
-
:o :o :o
The Prophet is fantastic, great paintjob, superb choice of miniature and great base.
Just perfect!
:-*
(I have never seen the mini before, so have no idea and am of no help, sorry....)
Mad Scientist- Again, what a great paintjob, you make me want that mini now. ;D
Seeing as how I have only just come into possession of the Pulp mad Scientist, I had better refrain.
It is wonderful, though.
Love it!
:-*
Dr Curfew- :-* :-* :-*
That knitwear is amazing!
After seeing Dr Curfew, I am begining to suspect that you are finding people that look like available miniatures and just taking photos of them!
I have rumbled you, sir!
;)
-
Thank you for your very kind words and I´m very happy that you like the miniatures. I´m enjoying a lot painting them and planning the games. I usually paint a lot of WW2 or Napoleonics for other people, so I use Strange Aeons and Mythos stuff to take fresh air and keep my sanity. Thanks you for your support and encouraging!! And please keep posting your miniatures and AAR because they are being a great source of ideas, inspiration and It´s very nice to see other people is doing.
Miniature 54, "the Sacrifice", This is the "Large crate with hands/tentacles (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_612&products_id=2130)" from Black Cat Bases. I enjoyed a lot painting it and planning how I´m going to use it in my games. I have thought to paint at least three of them and use them as scenes of horror or objective markers (victims for rescueing or something like that). I´ll only use the hands and I´ll use the tentacles for other things I have planned. I put some balsa wood inside of each crate side to attach the arms to them. I made holes in the wood and I glued the arms in them.

Miniature 55, Mouth on Legs (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_612&products_id=2672) from Black Cat Bases. I have got several of them, I have planned to use them as giant vermins or another strange animals, the little sons of The Great Mother.

Who needs sanity?
It is greatly over-rated if you ask me, and me, and me.......
Love the new additions.
Superb brushmanship as usual, sir.
:-*
Those crates are an excellent idea, as is the balsa wood core, I didnt even know that they existed, along with the Mouths (freaky!)
I am really looking forward to raiding the BCB stock at Salute after seeing these.

Same here!
I know the feeling by the way...I didn't have a lot of time to paint or was too tired. I've got some things underway right now, a Zombie, a few Conglomerates and a Hand Swarm...Hand Swarm? Yes, Hand Swarm!
-
Well, at least you have been painting! My attention to get ready for this next week has pulled my ability to paint anything.
-
I have no excuses but I do have pictures so... here we go:
Something strange has been spoted in the forest outside the town. Blurry pictures have been taken and some field agents have been sent to investigate the anomaly. But obviously everything has gone wrong from the beginning, this time the problem wasn't a lost creature far from home but a huge flying polyp, and it's not just any polyp, it's the Dark Puppeteer (http://strange-aeons.ca/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=78). We'll probably send a new team to deal with it because we haven't had any news from the first one.

Same here, I'm also taking a small break...I'm painting some stuff for a 40K Death Guard army that I'm thinking of starting (already did one Plague Marine and had already painted a Blight Drone).
Great to see more of your stuff, I really love your work.
Fantastic PJ on this beasty...had already seen it on the SA website (recognized your style)...I love the agonized Agent on the base, that's really a nice detail. I think I'll buy this one after I come back from my holiday in the UK next week and the one after that.
-
Thanks!!
One of the things that makes me stop posting is the lack of pictures, I hate the camera!! And the other thing is preparing and priming the miniatures, if I run out of primed miniatures that can be the end of a project (So I try to prepare some minis every few days).
Cheers.

It looks like the agents discovered a secret cult hidden in the woods sacrificing people to summon and feed the Dark Puppeteer. All the miniatures by Uncle Mike´s Worldwide (http://strange-aeons.ca/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=78), except the lamp post which is from Black Cat Bases (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=430_442_476&products_id=2115).

OMG! That polyp :o that mini is an must-have, need it as well!
Aesome paintings jobs, very enjoying this thread.

Thank you for your comments, they are very encouraging.
Does the Insanity afflicted investigator come with the Dark Puppeter?
Yes he does, he is part of the base (part of the crew part of the ship... ;D)
I have had the oportunity to paint the Bloody Tongue miniature by Acheson Creations (http://achesoncreations.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=840&category_id=84&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1) and I have to say I have enjoyed a lot. I have used again flesh tones for the skin and reddish spots but I like that combination for this kind of creature, it makes them look more disgusting (and they need to be disgusting because they eat people!!). I have tried to get a night effect in one of the pictures, that´s because is so dark.

Wow, simply amazing work there!
-
Thanks!! It´s a really disturbing creature.
-
Once again, you've turned a mini that I doubted I'd buy into something I must get....
You are bad news for my wallet sir.
-
Gross and cool, all at the same time!
-
Never thought to buy that mini & now it's on the list. Great work, the red spots look amazing!
-
If my mom saw that thing she'd put mustard on it and tell it to behave.
Wonderful painting!
-
:-*
Amazing!
I love how you use the red spots to blend the two areas together.
-
Absolutely disgusting :o. You made something incredibly visceral and disturbing. What a great paint job!
-
Great collection of models and all are beautifully painted.
Love 'em all. Fantastic work. :) :)

Thanks!!

Wonderful paint job here (again!!!). I love the eyes and the patterns on the head. They add so much realism on this beautiful figure.

This covers it for the painting!
:-*
Every time I see you paint a miniature that I had otherwise passed over, I see it with new eyes.
This one certainly has potential for my 'Mad scientist' retinue.... ;)
-
Wow I can hardly imagine its the same as on the blackcat site... awesome job! They really should pay you to use your pictures they would sell so much more stuff!
-
I'd love to see a step-by-step on your painting process. Your work is amazing.
-
Thanks!! I´m happy that your are enjoying because I´m enjoying a lot painting them!! ;) :D
I'd love to see a step-by-step on your painting process. Your work is amazing.
Thanks!! I always forget to stop for takeing pictures and when I realize about that the miniature is almost finished ;D ::). Sometime I must try it.

Really glad that you have got around to this one.
I love that pack, both minis are great!
Great paintjob on both!
:-*
I have a Missing Link sitting on the painting table.
Will need to get him done soon, as I feel he will be needed in the campaign that our group will be doing soon.
Have to move him forward in the queue...
-
Thanks!! It´s a very nice model indeed and the best thing is that it´s very easy and fast to paint!!
-
Good work as usual!

Thanks!!
Here are some more painted miniatures. Serpentmen (http://strange-aeons.ca/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_2&products_id=43&zenid=8afecc7a59ebb23effb643458fd23ef3) from Uncle Mike´s Worldwide. :o
Stunning paintjobs, einarolafson!
Now THAT is how you paint purple.
Simply beautiful transition between shades!
:-*
-
The serpentmen look wonderfully evil :-*
-
Two hisses! Great job!
-
Its nice to see you posting photos again einarolafson! :-*
Lovely stuff as always. The paint job on Nyralethotep miniature has got to be my favorite though. :D
-
Thanks!!
And... this time I have got only a picture but two (or five)miniatures. They are from the set Scrawny Ones (http://strange-aeons.ca/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=22&zenid=8afecc7a59ebb23effb643458fd23ef3) from Uncle Mike´s Worldwide. I painted the creatures some time ago but I have finished the three summoning markers. I have painted one like stone with stained with blood, another like green cristal or green stone and the third one like glowing black/green stone.
Bigger picture on my blog (http://losingsanity-einarolafson.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/this-time-i-have-got-only-picture-but.html).

Those scrawny ones are oldies but goodies.
I especially love the look of pure enjoyment on the bugger eating his lunch. :-*
-

I especially love the look of pure enjoyment on the bugger eating his lunch. :-*
Thanks!! Agents are tasty!! :P
-
Very beautifully painted minies. I am absolutely fond of the missing links and the serpent men that are much closer to what I was imagining for those creatures.
-
Those look very nice, einarolafson!
:-*
A nice touch with the different summoning counters, and as for 'Hungry Boy', well, I think enough has been said about him already....
-
Creepy!
And bon appetite!
-
I have to get some of the Scrawny Ones, I love it!
-
Thanks!!
Today not an agent or creature but very useful and nice to paint. It is the Crypt with Chained Coffin (http://strange-aeons.ca/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=59&zenid=36af6f69b4d6aadfc7827d1125001a07) from Uncle Mike’s Worldwide. I have used the same green stone/crystal colour that I have used in a lot of my scenery items.

-
Oooh!
That is lovely!
:-*
That green stone is a top class effect.
;D
-
Yea, the green was a great choice away from the standard greys.
-
Very very nice!
-
I saw this in my blog feed this morning and it's simply awesome. Care to post up the paint recipe so I can steal...er I mean, try to emulate this look? I've got one of these on the to-do shelf and this looks way better than what I was planning to do with it!
-
Please share your recipe for that green stone (if you have a moment)
Lovely as always.
-
Thanks!!
I have made a fast painting guide for the Crypt. I have used Foundry colours but you can use any other green palette from another branch. The miniature are easy to paint using drybrushing. I have started priming the miniature in black and then I have used Foundry 69B as base colour. After that I painted drybrushing with F69C some areas leaving the lower part of the crypt darker. I have highlighted the crypt as you can see in the drawings. So in the end you should have the lower parts very dark and the upper edges almost white or yellow (depending on your taste). I’ll explain sometime during the day how I paint the sculpture on the Crypt’s lid because I have done that in another way, basically as if I were painting a jewel. I hope that helps.

-
I really need to bite the bullet and just order the entire Foundry Paint line....I love all that I have had in the past and wow they have a range of colors unmatched and the bottles are great size for the price and seal well.
Thanks for posting that outline!
-
Great, thanks so much for sharing!
-
Nice guide!
Will have to give that recipe a go.
Thank you!
-
Thanks. I´m happy that you find useful the painting guide.
I have painted the sculpture using the same colours as I have used on the Crypt. This time I have painted it as if I were painting a jewel. I have done seven highlights but with only three it would be ok too. Please note that this time I have used the paint as always (watered down) and not by drybrushing. You have to take into account the light on the whole figure and its direction while painting every raised part as an independent jewel. There are more complicated ways of doing it but I find this way to be quick and effective (at least for me).

Back on topic: thanks a lot for those helpful guides! I'll certainly be trying the technique out on my crypt, hopefully over the weekend as it looks like we've got more rain on the way.
-
Thank you!! And I said before, I´m happy that you find the painting guide useful.

The Captives are great with stacks of character and scenario potential, nice paintwork on the crates and Markers and the Ghast is excellent!
He may be what I am looking for- A Ghoul King to lead my tribe.
Hmmm.....
-
Amazing that you can keep going like that!
-
It is truly amazing how you bring character and life to minis that I may have once turned my nose up at.
-
Again. Four days away and too much pictures to look when I come back. And what pictures! The prisonners and the ghast are absolutely great. And the painting guide is very well done. Bravo!
-
Thank you for your very kind words :).

-
This is a great pace, Andre!
Do look forward to the fisherman ;)

I love this thread. :)
But I do worry what eldritch rituals einarolafson has performed to keep putting out such good quality minis at such a rate! ;D

The secret is: I paint in parallel universes and I send the painted miniatures to the parallel universe where the Computer is :D. And the another important thing is that my father was a Yithian so I have some of his skills!!
And today we have... Private Eye (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_610&products_id=3197) from Black Cat Bases.

Wonderful additions. :-*
I'm really impressed with the tweed pattern on the professor and the face on the private eye.

Thanks!! I love that little sculptures, I think they were modelled by Blackstone from Tengu Models.
I have fixed a little mistake that I have made with the link to my blog because I put the Rattrap address intead mine.

Like all the rest of your WONDERFUL creations, the Dagon Priest is BEAUTIFULLY painted & based...a fine example of the craft at its VERY BEST.
-
I WANT TO BUY THIS FIGURE NOW! You are a pimp for these companies...I look at their figures, go meh, then I see you paint them and suddenly I am hooked on buying them!!!!

-
O man, might be even my favorite this one...
-
That's a really characterful model! Great paint job as always. How the heck do you crank these out like that?! I'm lucky to get a fully painted miniature a week, let alone every day.
-
Very nice. :-*
I really like the subtle human flesh to deep one flesh transitions you have done with your hybrids.
If I were to ever start a mini company, I'd want to hire you. :D

You make me want to buy everything that you paint.
You are a very bad man!
-
The talent in this thread is incredible.
-
Thank you!! I love thase sculptures and the best thing is that they match perfectly with Black Cat Bases hybrids so you can prepare a huge hybrid family!!
-
VERY WELL DONE! There's something deeply disturbing about a cigar smoking fish. The brush work is superb...I particularly like his eyes.
-
Thanks!
There's something deeply disturbing about a cigar smoking fish. The brush work is superb...I particularly like his eyes.
lol lol That´s disturbing indeed. Today I was thinking about that cigar, Could it be a bullet?
Continuing with Rattrap Hybrids for my Dagon Cult, today we have a Hybrid from the set Deep One Hybrids I (http://rattrapproductions.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_5&products_id=69). I like this miniature a lot, he reminds me of one of Obed Marsh's sons.

That wooly jumper is something special too.
You have an incredible talent for making fabrics look so real.

More awesomeness. :-*
Gotta get me those "brids". ;)
-
Colours, expression all wow, but those eyes really blow me away! :o
-
The whole project is thoroughly impressive! Those Hybrids are the best I've seen :-*
-
Really fantastic job. Looks like he's going to spring his Uncle from the asylum and head back to Innsmouth... he has the look.
-
Great stuff as usual, just when I think I have seen some of the best more comes out. You bring the faces of characters to life! May have to put you on standby for the next future contest to for a custom painted mini or something....sounds like everyone would love to own something painted by you.
-
Thank you for your very kind words and for your support and encouragement. I´m enjoying a lot painting all these miniatures for my Strange Aeons games.
This is the last Hybrid from Rattrap Productions, set Deep One Hybrids II (http://rattrapproductions.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=76&zenid=pi8m4h0pcrj1auo4sd5gb5mo53). I have to say that I have enjoyed a lot painting them and they are very well modelled (IMHO at least).

Again you make what I thought was an average looking fig at the website just look awesome!
-
:o
Your painting skills are phenomenal!
-
Yet another wonderful example of your talent.
That face is , once again, exceedingly good, whilst the jumper looks positively 'wooly'....!!!!!
:-*
-
Wow, I've just been away for two weeks and you've posted a lot...great looking paintjobs and I love the tutorials!
-
Thanks!! Here are some pictures of the family in that lovely village called Dunwich. There are some miniatures that I haven´t shown here but I´ll take pictures of them individually. And there are more Hybrids on the painting table too.
There are a lot of more pictures of them on my blog, http://losingsanity-einarolafson.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/holidays-in-dunwich.html (http://losingsanity-einarolafson.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/holidays-in-dunwich.html)
-
Wow!
-
Haha, the little guy on the bottom right is adorable in an, may I say, eldritch kind of way ;D
-
So great. I have to say, I've been through towns in the US where the locals looked almost exactly like those guys. Not so charming in a 1:1 scale.
-
One big happy family.
-
Hmm...I see something familiar in this all. :)
-
Ho-lee...CRAP. Those look bloody amazing. If you were a less gifted painter I'd still be impressed at the speed you crank stuff out at. However, the quality your work is at, coupled with said speed...kinda destroys my brain a little each time I see something from you.
-
Abso-Bloody-lutely Lovely!
:-* :-* :-*
Welcome to Peckham, er, I mean Dunwich!
-
An excellent group.
-
They look even more impressive as a group. :-*
I'm still waiting for a bat rep though. I can't help it, I'm greedy. ;D
-
What a wonderful team! You are an incredible painter! Excellent!

I just can't get over the blend between the flesh tone and the blue/grey skin! The eyes also...
I can only echo styx....
....you must have a bionic eye!
Superb!

Agreed. Exemplary work! :-*
-
Thanks!!

Reminded me that mine is still on the table to be done. Great work!
-
Bloody lovely work on such a small fella!
:-*
I think of him as the SA equivalent to a Jawa, small and sneaky.
;)
-
it's great, really, I'm not just being polite.
-
What more can I say that I haven't before? Superb looking figures!
-
Thanks!!
Today, more badies but this time a new cult, a Shub Niggurath cult. He´s the cult leader from Black Cat Bases (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_467&products_id=2132).

Look great! I have him on my buy list!
-
Lovely work!
Those tattoos look great.
:-*
I am continually amazed that you paint such small details.
I rarely paint eyes, as I cannot see well enough to do them most times, and you keeping prducing masterpieces like that.
I am convinced that you either have a bionic eye or you are not one of 'us'!
;)
Oh, and congratulations on the 10,000 views!
You would have been there a long time ago if you had not taken the break that you did.
Amazing!
-
Wow, I missed the tats as I was focused on other parts of the model!
-
Awesome as usual! Creepy model and you've made the dry, husked and spent soul that he is, really come alive.
-
I'm really looking forward to seeing more of the new Black Goat Cult!
That miniature looks wonderful. :-*
-
Thanks!! The Black Goat Cult is growing but I haven´t got pictures for today, sorry about that, I really needed a good week end resting! But there are more miniatures on the way!!
-
Creepy looking guy...awesome paintjob!
-
Reminds me of the "Evores" (sp) from the movie 300... diseased and scary!
-
This cultist is absolutely scary. Once again, the face is incredible. Great work!
-
These "lovely creatures" are zombies breaking through the ground ready to deliver "joy" to the agents. They are made by Escenorama (http://escenorama.com/accesorios-para-no-muertos/) from the Zombies (http://escenorama.com/shopping/product.php?id_product=49) set (It contains 5 zombies and 7 gravestones groups). I´ll be showing more stuff from Escenorama because I´ll use them as Zombies entry points, grave markers and scenery. I haven´t changed the basing system, I´m using MDF round bases for markers and small scenery items.

Uncle Micke´s Worldwide has released a new Witches set, so I´ll show pictures of the two Witches sets during the next days. This is the first one from the set Witches I (http://strange-aeons.ca/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=79). I love the "little" friend that she is holding.

Looks great!
-
Another great addition to your collection.
I particularly like the extra attention applied to the frog, great detailing.
:-*
I am really going to have to try your technique for adding depth to clothing with those short brushstrokes.
It work amazingly well!
Bet I cock it up, though!
I do not have bionic eyes like you...
::)
-
I do like the way that the brushstrokes suggest the rough weave of the witch's clothes.
-
Thanks!!
This is the second one from the set Witches I (http://strange-aeons.ca/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=79).

That is one sweet paintjob, the face is amazing!
:-*
He does not look too healthy, does he?
Maybe one to add to the Degenerate horde too.

I´ll varnish it again tomorrow morning when the temperature is better.

-
Lovely work ( :-*)....... as usual. ( >:()
Makes mine look decidedly average.
(Which it is, of course!)
:D
-
Great zombie, what sells it is the plaid shirt... that is really, really well done.
-
Thanks!!
Today I have an special Agent, Agent Carter (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=44950.0). This fantastic miniature appeared at my door some days ago so I have painted it. You might remember Y´golonac (http://losingsanity-einarolafson.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/day-23-horror.html) by Avolak Castings (you can see more of his work here (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=08dfa2fcd618223fa54548debf8481f0&topic=34428.0), here (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=08dfa2fcd618223fa54548debf8481f0&topic=36045.0) and here (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=08dfa2fcd618223fa54548debf8481f0&topic=38371.0)!). He has modelled some of the most disturbing Lovecraftian creatures I have seen (or Ramseycraftian or Ashtonsmithcraftian...). So I give you Randolph Carter with the Silver Key, Master of Dreamers, Cats Friend and Ghouls Saviour!! I think you will hear from him very soon.

I want that Carter model! Wow!

That is a superb paintob on a cracking miniature.

Thank you.
Today: The Mother of the Serpent People. It´s a Monolith Designs African idol, I don´t know if they are still selling things, they have a lot of very interesting things.

Andy
-
Nice idea!
A little different to the run of the mill Serpent Idol.
Great effect on the stonework.
:-*
-
Amazing! As I said on your blog!
-
This is another idol from Monolith Designs. I bought it in Partizan a year ago. They were selling miscast pieces very cheap so I bought a lot of them for my Strange Aeons project. I have painted it as a big painted clay sculpture, I have used the resin defects to create chips where you can see the terracotta colour.

Wow, I had to stop to pick up my socks after they was knocked off. Great work!

That is truly UGLY!
It amazes me that you can even making something as gross as that look like a thing of beauty.
Wonderful paintjob!

I can´t say anything bad about it... it´s looking at me right now :D
-
I've just gon through this whole thread... Now I'm going to cry and have a little lie down. When I get up I shall be throwing all my miniatures out in disgust. You've ruined everything for me..
Please post something rubbish now.
-
I always wonder where you would begin when painting a Mythos creature. let's see here, I could start with a slime yellow, or maybe a bile green with some unholy moonlight highlights. lol
The paint jobs are amazing!
-
Thanks for your comments, and sorry If I haven't posted any miniature for my Strange Aeons project, but because is not dead which can eternal lie... here is one Avolak Castings Nightgaunt to pinch and tickle my Threshold agents. Just finishing another one!!

Nice work, mate, and welcome back to the fold!

I do like those versions and the fenris offerings, but both look a little fragile to me.
Are they metal?
(Anything used by our group has to be Bullock-proof!)

Thanks!! They are metal, so they need a bit of care. I think that you can pin one of the feet to a "rock", gravestone or something to make it stronger. The Nightgaunt will not fly but it'll be more resistent.
Cheers.

Thanks for the information.
Still not sure which Nightgaunts to go for...
-
Thats a great paintjob, I was just figuring how I should do my black!
As for nightgaunts, Mason, I had the same problem. As much as I like avolak castings' one it is just too dynamic, as weird as it sounds - love the idea of balancing it on the tail tho! I really like fenris' pose and how slim it is - just as it is supposed to be. But personally, I went with EM4...I actually like how simple it is - suits the rest of my collection. So, perhaps you could have a look at those?

To be honest, I am being tempted into converting or making my own.
-
I fully support any attempt at converting or making! Tried it myself but it didn't go well lol
-
Nice work einarolafson!
Some very subtle shading effects there.
I think that's the best painted nightgaunt I have ever seen.
Lovely.
:-*
-
keep up the great work! o_o :-*
-
Thanks!!
-
This fireball was modelled by Avolak Castings in a translucent resin. I painted it with yellow inks and some drybrushing. In the end the thing is keeping transparence and I like the final result. I'm including a comparison picture with a Threshold Agent from Uncle Mike's Worldwide, and another one of the Nightgaunt.

AMUSINGLY AMAZING!!!
