Title: Theatralics Dwarf Army: Groupshots
Post by: Theatralic on 20 June 2012, 08:05:23 PM
After some lurking and quiete some drooling on the great stuff which seems to be everywhere on this forum, I decided to open my own Thread. I am mostly active in Bugmans Brewery but after some hints from my good mate Drachenklinge i decided to have a look in here, and I like it :-) .

I have been a Dwarf collector since 13 Years but never could be bothered with painting them, that changed when I got in the Brewery, a lot of inspiring stuff!
Thats why I decided this year is going to be the year of my Dwarfs, time to paint that stuff!
Additionally I got addicted to the OOP metal stuff. I have hundreds of plastics, but they can`t keep up with the old Citadel and Marauder Stuff, this forces me to spent way more time on ebay than I should, for my wallets sake...

But enough talk, time for some pictures, I am learning so every Critique and Feedback is appreciated. still have a lot of stuff here, hope to keep this Thread going for a long time ;-D.

Lovely old miniatures. They bring back so many memories.

About feedback: from the photos I would say the miniatures could use one more highlight step. That's a could because that is a matter of peronal taste. Other than that the dwarves look really nice. I'm really going to enjoy this thread.

Thank you guys, I would lie if I would say that the positive feedback doesn`t feel good.

@ Doomhippie I love those muted colors and subtle Highlights, but at the same time I am getting a lot of feedback about using more Highlights so maybe I should try it out and decide after that.

You've got some Old Friends in your collection...ah memories of better (perhaps) times. They all are finely painted little creations...the Guy on the stilts is a favorite. VERY WELL DONE!

NO!!  The subtle colour palette and highlights are excellent, really show off the figures well and brings all the different styles/eras of figures together. Makes for a very distinctive collection.

I remember a lot of 3rd Edition Warhammer Games with these Dwarfs. GW made real dwarfs, but now they do only dwarfs

Wait that is you still learning?!? Those look way better than most people's painting that I hang out with on a regular basis. It is SO clean it really lets the model shine!

Post by: Theatralic on 22 June 2012, 11:24:20 AM
Thanks at you all, I am humbled. I have painted in the past but not much and when I painted my aim was just to get some color on the models, drybrushing , washes, etc.

I never had fun with painting, till I started painting those old minis, they are so rewarding, now I am trying my best to learn everything I missed the last decade on warpspeed ;D.
I learned a lot while I spent one year in the brewery with lurking, those Guys over there are so helpful and I learned a great deal from them.

The funny thing is that a lot of people ( like most of you), remember those minis from the past, for me they are all new :-D, started with sixt edition in 1999.

I like muted, more down to earth colors and after some tests I am pretty sure I will stick with it. The highlights are are a little bit more visible in reallife but at the same time I loose alot because of the varnish, still looking for the perfect one. so far i tested Citadel purity Seal and army painter Matt Varnish, but not happy with either one.
Yesterday I got myself more browns and greens from Valljo ,  I was getting bored with my limited range from citadel, I hope they will still look tied together, even with my updated color range.

Cheers T

Hopefully I can get my hand on a camera soon

Wow!

That really is a blast from the past!

Back in the late 80's I had pretty much every one of those figures in a Dwarf army that was never finished. (Barely touched by a brush if I am honest!)

Looking at these fellas is a bit like: 'Look what you could have won!'

Very impressive results, I really like the more muted palette, it works really well with Dwarves, I reckon.

Lovely army in progress, mate, and really looking forward to seeing what you do with the wagon...

Thank you so much for your kind words DeafNala, he belongs to the Citadel norse dwarf line, I have a whole Unit of them and they are some of my favourite Sculpts ever made. A lot of people prefer the imperial Dwarfs but I am a Norse fan at heart. He has a Twin brother which I also have:

It's not just the personallity each figures has, but also this something that is so difficult to explain. Couldn't say what sort of expresivity and joyfullness comes from this minis.

Must admit that I have just entered ebay and started following some Marauder dwarf packs. I won't buy them, be sure I have no money, but they are just so appealing. Why doesn't a company take the banner of casting them again? I would be right on the queue to buy them! The charisma, good looking appearence makes you come back some decades to when hobby was a bit different, and also, world was a bit different. Maybe "past times were always better" thing? I don't know, but I still like them so much, and you really made them come alive.

I thought I'd already posted to say how impressed I was by your beautiful Dwarf army, but then found I hadn't, so now I am.

You're doing lovely work here, I have many of those old Dwarfs, and recognise many more, but yours look a lot nicer than mine! It really is very inspiring - my Dwarfs haven't been getting much love recently, and you make me want to break them out again!

Really nice work Theatralic! Can't single any of them out, but I fully agree with you about the old norse dwarfs. My favourites by far, when it comes to the vertically impaired of the pinkish disposition. I'm still more of a sucker for goblins... =)

Sometimes I dream that if GW should one day go out of business, someone would realise the rights to the old ranges are worth money too and could be sold off and I would buy the rights to the renaissance style figures from the Marauder dwarf range (and the ogres and the human fighter command group).  ;D

Greetings fellow Leadjunkies,

Those last months I fell into the Fiery Pits of Slacking most of us probably know, I simply couldn`t bring myself to paint anything ( except some speedpainted Models for Mansions of Madness). But I am Back with a Plan. I am going to participate in somethings thats called "Project 500" in a German Forum. You have to Paint a 2000 Point Army in 500 point Brackets, having 45 Days for each step, it will run from November to April and hopefully it will give me the much needed Motivation to get Back on Track.

This Month I am trying to finish my first Warrior Horde, so its out of the Way when the Challenge starts:

Its missing those last 6 Warriors and the Cart Unit Filler, but I have to admit after such a long Break I am having Trouble to get things right paintingwise, but I won`t give up.

The Group Portrait is LOVELY! VERY WELL DONE!

Fear not, you'll come up to speed with the painting. I suffer a few days of adjustment time whenever I switch from scenery to minis or back again...of course, at my age most everything requires some adjustment time.

Brilliant old school goodness!

If you are missing any minis get in contact with Boki Gromdal (or Kevan) at www.stunties.com (http://www.stunties.com) as he is always looking to fill the few gaps he still has in his Dwarven horde and has many to trade.......his house is more organised than mine but still a lead haven.....

Thank you Guys, you are really motivating me, Dozing Dragon I will keep that in Mind, thank you really much.

A little Update (Thanks to you I am climbing out those fiery pits). I painted a Gamezone Hammerer Testmodel ( sorry no OOP), I like those models and will paint up a whole Unit of them. All in all I am really happy, still room to improve, but practice makes the master. I also tested my new camera setup, I like how the Pics turned out, but still need to figure out all those buttons.

Now that's what a dwarf should look like - no nonsense attitude, no fancy moustace style, no renaissance style flamboyant clothing. Just good old conservative (shoul I say "reactionary"?) style.  :D

I agree, I love the look and the strength those miniatures show, the only downside is the casting quality, Gamezone really sucks sometimes in that regard, still I couldn`t resist.

@all Thanks for your nice comments.

Inspired by eMILLs great Blogbanner, i wanted a Thread/Blogbanner for myself (especially with the upcoming P500), even with the help of a mate it took ages, but I am really happy with the results:

Title: Re: Theatralics Dwarf Army: Threadbanners
Post by: Theatralic on 03 October 2012, 06:54:00 PM
Thank you Ninja, glad you like it, the newer skin is:

Cadian Fleshtone
Reikland Flesshade Wash
cadian Fleshtone
Cadian fleshtone + Kislev Flesh
Kislev Flesh

Sometimes I use Tanned Flesh as Undercoat for the Cadian Flesh because it covers way better than Cadian Fleshtone on Black.

The Banner was real fun to make but to be honest had I know how long it would take...I don`t think I will make some in the near Future  lol

Man you are rocking this thread. I love dwarves and you are doing some amazing work here in terms of really giving them a individualized feel.

Thank you so much, this means a lot! One of my biggest quarrels with Dwarves in the past was, that they started to look outdatet and soulless ( My All Plastic army anyways), every other Army had cool Toys and great Sculpts, but our Warriors looked bland. Than I started to see all this Vintage Armies in the Brewery and fell in Love. My aim is to mix OOPs with current models to get some Theme and Variation in, Dwarves should be more than Row after Row off identical Looking Plasticminis, don`t get me wrong, I like Plastics but not for the whole Army.

Dwarves have so much Character and a rich Background, if I manage to catch some of that in this Army, I did a good Job!

Very cool.
I like the statue idea.
Keep the photos coming. :D

In my opinion the dwarves of Avatars of War could be dangerous for my purse...

I really dig this thread. Even though I'm not too hot for dwarves these are just spot on! Great paintjob, great selection of models and those statues really rule. Two thumbs up.

Oh, and don't worry about posting work in progress. I find that very fascinating as it helps me remember that other people really have to work for their results as well.

Nice idea with the ratnik dwarves and the statues - they're going to get a bit tired lugging that big old thing after the rest of the unit though aren't they?  ;)

Looking forward to seeing them painted up  8)

Thank you all  :) , glad that you liked it , it really feels good to know people like whats happening in here.

@ Thansants, nothing a strong Dwarf Back can`t take lol

Here is a birthday Present my girlfriend got me ( I had back in August but never got around to go to Ikea, but now its done). My own dedicated Hobbyarea. No half hour of Preparations anymore, no Paints on my Work/PC Desk anymore, no putting everything away each night. I am SO Happy, this should really help me to keep my schedule and get some Painting in every Night, more room than I ever had to work on my stuff, so I have no excuses anymore.

Now lets see how long this will stay so clean....

Thank you Guys :)

This is kind of an angry Update, we all know this I suppose, you try out new Things and they kinda suck :(

I started on my cannon today and I want to improve my Blending and skin skills, but as for now I am not that happy, but I know also It won`t happen on one mini, it takes practice, still its unnerving.

But I don`t want to continue on that skin for now, maybe I revisit it later on.

This huge collection of classical dwarven miniatures has to be a pleasure for paint.

Thanks Rigel, yes they are a pleasure, but I wouldn`t call that collection huge, I would kill for welfs collection or when I think of some of the armies I have seen in The Brewery I could cry. But I am young, I have Time to get my little fingers on more of them  lol

Another paintless WIP shot, but its an important one: The Project 500 has started and I am allready feeling the pressure. Some people are pumping out mini after mini and I haven`t even started. For my first 500 Points I am going for Warriors and a Runelord.

Deadline is December 16th, wish me luck and bombard me if I start to slack, I will try to post WIPs in between.

I love Dwarfs in general...they're the counterpoint to my Goblins...& yours in particular. Your favorite face reminds me of Ernest Borgnine...he did rather well with the Ladies I hear. That aside, GREAT WORK!
I don't think you'll lose quality painting in batches of around four minis; as long as it doesn't become tiresome, you'll do fine.

Looks like a good start - that is a face only a mother could love  lol

Keep at it - I find batch painting can be a bit of a drag sometimes as you seem to be getting nowhere fast for a while but then suddenly you have a set of painted minis and you're thinking about basing materials!

The candelabra lends the whole affair a touch of class I must say

Does anyone around here remember me  :D .

It has been ages since I`ve been around here and ages since I touched a brush. Many things happned in my private and Universiy life and I couldn`t find any time and motivation for hobby stuff.

But I miss my trusty Dwarves and I am finally feeling the urge again to get moving.

Oh and this happened:

(http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n563/Theatralic/Simba/20131003_090523_zps16e24f6b.jpg) (http://s1140.photobucket.com/user/Theatralic/media/Simba/20131003_090523_zps16e24f6b.jpg.html)

I never was the animal guy, barely could keep a plant alive.
But when this little old fella came to us by accident he was sick to death, it did cost me all my savings and most of my time for nearly 3 months, but he is way healthier now and has become my trusty companion  , its gruesome how people can treat a pet and it was soo sad to see him suffer, many new entries in  book of grudges about his former owners (who own their own IT Company but couldn`t be bothered with a sick cat - let the broke student who can`t barely make it himself pay the 1500 Euroes :wallbash: ), but we managed and we love him....and I have become one of those cat persons I used to make fun off.

Sorry for the Off Topic

First order of Bussiness is to finish where I left off, I have a good handfull of started miniatures I need to finish, they have been looking at me for nearly a year:

I missed this place an I hope there are still some poeple who are interested in my stuff.

Cheers

Nice to meet you!

Those guys have such great character! I like the color choices. You have some nice contrast between the all that metal and the other details. And yes, the painting stand is a great re-use of materials. :)

Love the banner too!

Once long ago my husband and I took in an abused kitten. He grew up to be a very interesting cat. He would occasionally let us know he was annoyed by hopping onto the gaming table and tip-toeing around the minis. He never knocked anything over, just seemed to enjoy our panic. Now the lego display, that he LOVED destroying. Watching him fling carts and minifigs through the castle, across the wooden table and into the wall was pretty entertaining for us too. May Simba enjoy his new life with folks who care!

I did it, those buggers are finally finished :). I hope the pictures are okay , it feels like a little bit to much light. I'm a little late to the party - but just wanted to say that I've enjoyed seeing some olde favourites painted up and based.

Fantastic work on the figures!

I think you did a great job on the unit filler!

Where did you manage to get the Donkey and Cart from?

Thanks Gentleman, glad that you like it.

The Cart is the Bugmans Cart from 1987 I think (Actually the Year I was born  lol). It does come up on Ebay now and then but I got really lucky since I met someone in a store who offered it to me for next to nothing, sometimes you get lucky.

I envy many of you Guys. I wasn`t around when those minis where actually being sold on a regular bases, seems like I missed good Times.

Ahhh the "Good Olde Days" when we fought Grobi and Skaven one handed while we dug tunnels with the other and that was after a big night on Bugmans  :D

The hobby is going through huge changes with new technology, more companies, great new plastic kits but many of the old classics capture the character of the fantasy world(s) better.

Thanks for the heads up on the cart.  I will see if I can track one down or convert something.

Happy Gaming & keep up the great posts!

Cheers,

Allan

I did it, its finished. There are some Parts I could improve on like the Shadows on the Mule or overall contrast, but for now I will call it finished. Sadly the Varnish I used left a rather glossy finish and it really angered me since it destroyed some of the weathered wooden look and swalowed Highlights, maybe I will get back with another matt varnish and try to tone it down.

All in all I am proud to have that lovely piece and happy about how it turned out.

C&C like allways more than welcome.

Thanks a bunch Guys, it means a lot to read a compliment from you White Knight.

If you did a Cart it would sell like crazy, of that I am sure!

Finished a Runesmith, I know many dislike new Plastics but i do like them and he looked like even I could finish him in a reasinable amount of Time. There are some Spots which will need touch Ups but all in all I am happy with him.

I am back at the Painting able, this Time with another WIP Runesmith. He isn`t as old as some of the Vintage Guys, but I allways liked that Miniature. He is a bit of a rushed Job and it shows, but I need to realize that I can`t spent ages on every Miniature if I want to paint this Dwarven Leadpile:

And this is without the countless Stuff still being stripped and without the equal amount of Plastics.

But I really want this pile painted, a sight to behold and I want to field them all in one Big Battle. So no reaching for the Stars and desperately trying to learn how to paint Single Miniatures for the Cabinet. I am going to stick with my Tabletop Standard.

I also started work on 2 Gyrocopters for some much needed Airsupport and broke up my bigger Warrior Unit in 2 to get some smaller Games in which means I need to Paint some additions for them.

Another WIP I fear, I started some serious Batch Painting since I want to move on faster, would love to actually play that army in this Century ;). Even more Updates today. I finished Part of the Batchpainting Project i had going. I think they turned out nicely. I have to admit that I couldn`t be bothered anymore with all those Bags and Pouches in the end and stopped Highlighting them. Tedious!

In the Future I will go back to less Minis per Walkthrough.  I am having trouble with the lighting in my Rooms so dthe Pics are rather Dark and colors are looking wrong. One of my Future projects will be a Photobox for sure. Still I hope you like them.

@Rui
Really glad that you found your way here my friend. My Dwarves and I will sing your Names for ages to come  ;)!

I started work on a Standardbearer I had converted from a Metal Bolthrower Crew. I really liked the sculpt but since the Bolt Thrower is a "meh" choice gamingwise  he filled an application form for another Job.

Really like where he is going. I finished the Face and Beard and gave him a bit of a drunken Nose. Lovely sculpt to work with! After all that batch Painting its a nice change of Pace to work on a single Miniature.

Its great that people who have never met in person and are on the other side of the world, support each other and help each other.

We have a say here in Portugal:

The world is small
Portugal is a backyard
and everyone know each other.

Thank you Guys, especially you Rui, so much wisdom in what you said! I agree Paul some of you feel like I have known you for Ages!

The Store I frequent has a Box with Parts of Finecast Returns and opened Boxes used to Fix Kits. Tody I came across a loose Frame from a Bolt Thrower and I rembered some conversions I had seen.

After some begging and Finger breaking the Frame was mine and I started to work.

I wanted a Version which was more in Line with the newer Warmachines and Full Metall Frame Marauder Cannon than those other conversions I had seen.

Don`t get me wrong I like all Grudgethrowers, the old and the New. But my aim is still to not use a single Warmachine sculpt twice. Fluffwise I see them all built by different engineers and unique named pieces.

Nothing is glued yet, its only a Mock up but I really like it so far. Of course it will look way cleaner when finished (at least I hope so).

I wanted something that I could easily see defend a Pass. Hidden, small, sturdy easier to transport than a Grudge Thrower. At the same Time I wanted it to be easily discernable as Dwarven Craftmanship.

Things I am not sure about:

1. What to do with the Back with that Screw Thingy? Edit: I should cut it off, the Mortar being breech loaded and all, there should be actually room at the back to load it, right now that Thing is in the way. I could Hide the cut off Spot with an ancestor Face and be done with it.

2. Do I need more Details in the Front?

3. Something overly wrong, what do you Guys think overall?

Please keep in mind that realism and staying in Tone to real life mortars isn`t my biggest concern but its still should look like it actually works. I am a bit limited regarding fitting Parts, so I am happy that I even gound eneough so far.

The little Mortar does have definite potential. For the rear screw a turning piece like those for the elevation might work. Have FUN in whatever way you go with it.

Thank you very much DeafNala :).

I did make some progress but right now everything came to a hold since I destroyed the 2nd Pair of Gearwheels by cutting too much off. But I like how its coming along. I went the poor mans route with the Back Part, but adding more Stuff did make it look cramped and the Crew would need some room to load that Thing.

Hello Teame.

If you have some modeling shop close to you check if there are accessories for wooden naval ships.
Usually on those accessories you can find cheap pieces that have some usefull parts to convert artillery.
Elevation screws for example.
The model is looking good so far.
Check google for images on siege mortars for some ideas (mainly 18th and 19th century).
If i get one usefull image i will place it here.

He has such a healthy glow to his cheeks, & a redness to his nose that speaks of a fondness for his drink. A paint job that provides an instant background is TRULY WELL DONE!

Thank you a lot DeafNala and Ninja! He has become one of my Favourites.

I am back from the Dead with a small Update, sadly just Handypics as I can`t find my Camera :/.

I finished the Command Unit of my first Warrior Unit, I devided the big 40 Man Horde and I am painting Additions to make two Units of 30.

I also painted a Thane using the old Bugman Model. While I had planned to paint Belegar I decided to go with Bugman as he was way faster to paint and I will seldom use a Thane in my initial Games. He is mostly planned for small 500 Point Games.

And I finally finished that 2nd Runesmith I had started ages ago.

I hope you like them :), glad to be back. Cheers!

Ok you may have been asked this but please share your exact painting steps for your dwarf flesh!

I will try my best, may appologies beforehand as I tend to struggle to explain myself in English sometimes.

1) I prime the whole Model Black and after that White from directly above and in an 45 degree angle
(http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n563/Theatralic/8a87d18f-8e78-49d1-aabb-391692b40053_zpsa84f4a8b.jpg)

It helps me to know where I place my Highlights an the Paint holds better on a rougher surface.

2)I start with a Tallarn Flesh Basecoat (OOP Citadel Foundation Paint). I use rather thin Layers till I have an even Basecoat. Due to the Black and White Priming you allready will notice some shadows and Lights, it really helps.

3) I wash the whole Skin with Citadel Reikland Fleshtone, making sure it doesn`t pool and dries with staines. I only want a thin even Layer that tints the basecoat and especially the Recesses.

4) I start building up Layers of Cadian Fleshtone. I use really thin colors, thinned down with Water, washing up liquid and Vallejo Tinner Medium. Its a bit of Trial and error and I am sure its over complicated, but its what works for me.
Load up the Brush and after that make sure that most of the Water leaves the brush by touching a Towel or Kitchen Paper. Otherwise that highly diluted mix will pool onto the Wrong Places. Only Pigments should be left.
Built up Transitions by drawing the Brush from shortly above the Shadows to the Areas where you want the Skin to get brighter.Since the color is so Thin the Basecoat will shine through.

The pure Bascoat should only be visible in the deepest Recesses.

5) Do this in several Times, making the Areas smaller till you are Happy .

6) I add Kislev Flesh as next Highlight, same procedure. It depends on the Miniature how many Layers and how I  mix it with the Cadian Fleshtone. As a final Highlight I use pure Kislev Flesh.

Again my appologies , I hope it helpes a bit. Maybe I should take Pictures in the Future.

I am finally back at the Painting Table, recent Months have seen some rather unlucky Developments in my Reallife, that with some general Lack of Motivation led to my Hobby falling to the Wayside.
But I am back and motivated, especially with all that Doom and Gloom regarding the Future of Warhammer going around going around I realized that I want to concentrate on the productive Side of the Hobby again.

Some  Mates and me are planning a giant  End Times Themed Multiplayer Battle ...which means I should come up with something actually akin to an Army... I knew the Plan had a Flaw...

I plan to field at least 70 Warrirors (with Fillers) which means that I need to finish around a Dozen ...and then the Rest of the Army. As proof an WIP from my Painting Table, not finished yet but getting there. They are a tad rushed...or have been started years ago and never finished but I think they will fit with the Rest.

Appologies for those shoddy Handy Pics:

The Little Guys are LOOKIN' GOOD! Bugman's Cart turned out TERRIFIC...I see it's a rallying point for the Gang on the left. Here's hoping time & motivation allow you to keep cranking out the Dwarfs; re, they are VERY WELL DONE indeed!

Thank you so much Guys, yeah I am chuffed that I am in the Saddle again and that after Years its looking like I am actually about to finish those Units.
In a way its laughable that it takes me Years to paint something that others would turn out in mere weeks. But alas I take what I get and I a simply enjoying the Fact that I am making sloooow but steady progress  ;).

The newest batch of Old Grumps look WONDERFUL...you may be slow but you do have a flair for the Little Guys. VERY WELL DONE!
I can remember a time when speed was of the essence in painting, but now I savor the experience. While this doesn't always show in the quality of the minis, at least not to as noticeable a degree as I might like, I do have a lot more fun with the process. SO have FUN!

you know that this is exactly the way of dwarves, now don't you??  :D
Dwarfs are like the seasons of the year, slow but unstoppable like the passing of time.

Haven't painted little fellows for quite some time now, so busy with samurai and other stuff. But seeing this, I realized that they are still my first love. And we all know - "the first" you never forget!

best wishes

Guys, I can`t thank you enough for your support and your kind words. I am happy if I can bring a bit Joy with those little Fellas as they certainly brought back Joy into my Hobby Life. Thanks again.

Done, the last missing Warriors for now. I will add the missing Shield next week or so. I hope you like them. Let me know if you would like some Group Shots of everything together, I realize that I have bugged you with the Same Miniatures over and over again, but if there is interest I am happy to take out the proper Camera and deliver some "Army" Shots. I will take a break from Core Troops for now and paint some Heavy Hitters and Warmachines.

The latest of the Vertically Challenged warriors are WONDERFUL Little Characters...GREAT brushwork on two CHARMING Old Guys.
Goup portraits are always welcome. As SPLENDID as the minis are individually, they are even more so altogether.

My sincere thanks Paul and Alan, ask and you shall recieve. I am rather happy to have them finished. i still think that 3 Years is way too long but I am still intensly proud of them. There is a lot of Stuff I should touch up and fix. But for now I call them done. Slowly that drinking Band is approaching something akin to a force.

The longer a project takes the sweeter the sense of accomplishment & release...with commission drudgery, it always seem like it takes an exceptionally long time. All that aside, the Lads are a FINE LOOKING Band of short but heroic Warriors. The massed ranks are MOST IMPRESSIVE. The abundant character of the individual pieces creates a FANTASTIC group persona.  VERY WELL DONE!

What's next on the agenda?

To see so many many figures all finished to such a consistently high standard is brilliant.

Thanks my Friends, couldn`t do this without you Guys. Sharing this and getting this kind of response makes everything worthwhile.
I never was much of a Painter and  to be honest I do not particularly enjoy it, while I do love the finished Product, the process itself is rather tedious to me.....But I hate playing unpainted even more. I am a Gamer and Fluffbunny through and through, not a Painter.
For Years that meant that Painting was for me : Shoddy Basecoat, Wash and drybrushing. Those Dwarves are my first Try at taking my Time...and I am surprised how well its going and how much I am learning with every miniature.

I have sworn to myself I won`t play before I have a Substantial Army Painted ...should have thought that through becasue I haven`t really played in Years with my own Army  lol.
Sometimes this makes it rather hard since it feels like I am only doing the Part of the Hobby I am not that Fond off and the Part I love is missing. I know its the wrong approach I am taking, you shouldn`t make Hobby a chore. But I do know myself...I need to earn this the right way...no grey Plastics and Pewter Dudes on the Field. And I hope in the end this will feel that much better.

And don`t worry, there are HUNDREDS of more Dwarves waiting I don`t even think This Project will ever be finished. They are multiplying... Its my passion after all .I was only talking about those 2 particular Units....and just yesterday I decided that 30 looked boring....seems like I hate making my Life any easier...Time to bring them up to 40  :D

My Goal is to finish a certain prepared List and after that take a little bit of an break and treat myself with those much earned Games.
And I do have to admit it would be nice to paint something else for a break. I really would love to get back to strange Aeons and I really want some Dungeon Crawl Miniatures. Some little Project with a handful of Minis would be fun (I do prefer Armies tho)

Again Mates, my deepest Thanks, please keep following and encouraging, I wished I could thank you all in Person.

Cheers T
