I have looked up my first drafts for anything modern and would also recomemend the following stats for any type of modern assault rifle (M14, M16, AK-47 etc.)
Assault Rifle U/T 3 Rng 24" Dam 2xD6 Suppression.

I know that the ViDe leadtester Thomas is working on a Vietnam list, maybe he will share some ideas too.

Here my first draft for the USMC: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/512735/ViDe%20Vietnam%20%20USMC.docx.

It is an early alpha-version without points...

Any comments???

Oh!

A ViDe Vietnam thing would be swell around these parts. If you make a VSF one too I'd be all settled.  lol

Good start and a nice mix of English and German!  ;)

I am a bit reluctant to comment because:
1 - I am not so much into Vietnam and do not have the time right now ti really dig into it..
2 - I would like to see this more as an "unofficial" endeavor.

Once all have agree on units I can always do the points!

It is unofficial and only alpha. I think it is not possible to absolutely renew it for vietnam. I think about the special rules for the units, but comments can help. You're right, I used stats of the germans and americans. Reason is, that the developement of the weapons showed such ways. e.g. the M16 is a modification of the WWII stuff, and so on. Maybe in September we will do some testgames, so I can work on it.

I have just looked this over, and I like what I see.  The organization is right in line with what I know about the USMC.  I do have a couple of comments.  The sniper seems to be presented as an individual, but has HP/2 and stats for an M-16 listed.  Is this intended to be a two-man team?  This would match most modern doctrines for the deployment of snipers.  Also, it is my understanding that the USMC was fairly slow to adopt the M-16.  Many units in Vietnam still used mostly M-14 rifles.  I had a friend who served in the USMC in the '80's, and was still given the option of an M-14 as his issue weapon.  Perhaps you could have an option as to which weapon each marine carries.

Thanks for your comment. It is true, I will change to M14, In the moment I do not really work on it, but maybe with a little help it goes on. Next week I will change the sniper thing. Have you played with this lists???

So, I reworked the files, hope it works better: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/512735/videvietnam.zip

Need some input (ideas) here to go on. Please tell me, what works and what is not really good. There are no vehicles in the moment, but they will follow.

Here a pdf-version for easier access:

I've been away from wargaming for a while, and just saw that you had gotten some more work done on this.  I haven't taken the time to read it all in detail, but I like what I've seen so far.  If you have access to it, I recommend using the material from ViDe: Future Combat for a lot of this.  The Low-Tech force list should work well as a starting point for most armies of this time period.  I'll look at your work and see what I can come up with.
