Any chance of a run on which figures that aren't the Copplestone ones?
cheers
James
Is Thrudella going to be making an appearance? :o
Great! (I particularly like the "nip-slip" on Queen Caitriona...!) :o
Lovely painting Admiral, very 'gnarly' which suits these figures to a tea,and the giant Catamount/Puma/Lion is fantastic! Looking forward to more :)
I particularly like the tiger, looks like it stepped out of a Vallejo painting! :o
Love love love the bodyguards. Great work fella!
Does anyone make a Groo mini? I'm sure they'd love to have him in their clan. :D
Err, no. She actually once lived with the horde for some months, but she was always bitching with the Queen about the right slenderness ratio, so she was kicked out! (I don't really like that mini ...)
A bit over the top with that axe, but on the other hand he needs a good counterweight ...
Chronopia. Was just looking at mine, wondering what to do w him! Beautiful work!
Had a look on the Copplestone Site and apart from that Lady I couldn`t find any (apart from 15mm). Are they OOP?
And who makes that other Bodyguard the "Not Thrudd" is that another Copplestone mini?
I fell in love with this project :D
MirlitonOr EM4:
The original barbarian range was sculpted by Mark Copplestone when he was working for Grenadier UK many years ago. The range was part of the "Fantasy Warriors" line and is still available today in it's intirety by Mirliton, an italian company:

Some more informations about UK availability can also be found here: http://fantasywarriors.frothersunite.com/ (http://fantasywarriors.frothersunite.com/)
The "Not Thrudd" miniature is one of the five incarnations Citadel miniatures released 1984-1987 as limited editions.

More info about that on the Wikipedia "Thrud the Barbarian" site.
You can of course hunt them down on Ebay ... ::)
Very cool. What was the original miniature of that bull/ox thing? It looks really awesome.
That is a wonderful conversion, and I agree that the original head is not as great as the rest.
Tempted with the beastie, but I know it would just sit there for ages.... :(
Better to go to someone who will use it AND post a pic of the thing finished!
:D
Not as weak as I thought ;D
cheers
James
lol lol lol
Was difficult, though, I must admit!

@Mason: the handsome chap with the Big Axe & impressive mane of hair is an old Grenadier...God but I miss that Mini Maker.
They are looking great. When will see them on the table?
Whats the plan - Song of Blades and Hero's?

What. The. F ? That is AWESOME! The painting is incredible, the conversion is insane (is the head of the beast from a king kong toy?), what I really like is the level of detail on the saddle; jaw droppingly good. I am at a loss for words. Great thread, fantastic painting, awesome conversion/diorama.

Great tattoos on the Shaman, but the skull spire.. pure art. I love all the groundwork, the flowers, plants etc. I recognize the skull pile but where did you get the skeletal warrior and the large skull?
This is great stuff,
Damien
Awesome stuff. Love that base you made for them. I have that shaman, I must get around to painting it. I sold off all my old stuff about four years ago and that was one of the few things I kept. Can you purchase that one anywhere nowadays?
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/11/93_01_01_13_9_59_52_2.jpg)The fig on the far right is a Grenadier fig? I didn't long but wasn't able to locate it in the previous links. Thoughts? :-)

Lovely work again
Who makes the BIG DOG?
Great looking unit.Just seen that Forelorn Hope have released the Barbarian cavalry.Used to love them.
It's such a great range! Hard to decide whether to go for Copplestone's newer 18mm barbarians or these old beauties.
Excellent :-* :-*
Glad to see this continuing :)
Quick question, do you actually paint the figures when they are attached to the wooden block?
cheers
James
Yes, that's exactly the reason. This way I can paint all the attached miniatures at once. It works good with thoose 18mm figs, I won't do it with 28mm.
Great work. I wish Mark would be more prolific in his sculpting output!
Cracking mate! Those giants are stunning! :o
I love the warhammer or pick. And the axes. Those are conversions? Amazing :o
Must resist getting cavalry as well... I will not succumb o_o
