Title: Fallout Mordheim Mod - picture heavy with rules, TNT multiplayer battle 03.2017
Post by: SerialMoM on November 02, 2012, 08:31:28 PM
Hi i am new here.

Deafnala of Toms boring Mordheim forum gave me the tipp to visit this forum.

I am a HUGE Fallout fan!

i am totally in Fallout fever ( i am playing Falout 3 again) and i think it is time to collect all the ideas in my head and file a Fallout Mordheim Mod rule set.

I modified this post later:

These are the current versions of the rules:

Version 7 or whatever 11.01.2014: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVWmEzX3FBRFBBdU0/edit?usp=sharing

Warband rules 11.01.2014: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVZm9HMHZIdVZiY2c/edit?usp=sharing

Warband sheet 11.01.2014: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVT0wtdGRWaXNZX1E/edit?usp=sharing

I will add all new rules in the first post and post them seperately below, so it is easier to follow the changes.

I would be very happy and greatful if some people here will comment on/help me with  my rules.

Fallout Mod for Mordheim by SerialMoM

General points
Hit, Wound and amour save rules will be similar as the ones used as in Mordheim or used by Death Squad (a very interesting 40k Mordheim Mod)

Why?: My gaming group loves the Mordheim rule set and maybe they will test the Fallout world, when playing by rules they already know.

The currency will be caps instead of gold crowns. The loot will be goods instead of wyrd stone. But the concept is the same

There will be expensive weapons and armour, which are very mighty, but you will not able to buy lots of those at the beginning. And you will need some special training to use the best of them.

Changes regarding heroes:

Leader starts with W3, champions with W2, youngbloods and henchman only have W1. This seems to be very mighty but there will be weapons which will make more than 1 W to level this out

1 exception will be Super mutants, where every type has one more W than described above.

The armour save will only be negated, if the armour piercing value is as high as the armour save.
That means that a power armour helps against lots of the weapons

so here come the next weapons and armour rules

Melee weapons

Knifes / Lead Pipe, Nail board, Tyre Iron
S: S , R: melee , RoF: 1 , AP: - costs: 5 Special: 2 weapon attack possible reroll if first attack does not hit

Sledge hammer/Baseball bat: S: S+1 , R: melee , RoF: 1 , AP: 6+ costs: 10 Special: two handed weapon

Super Sledge: S: S+2 , R: melee , RoF: 1 , AP: 5+ costs: 30 Special: rare 9

Shishkebab: S+1 , R: melee , RoF: 1 , AP: 6+ costs: 10 Special: two handed weapon, burn sucker burn!: If hit victims suffers 1 S4 hit in his next recovery phase rare 8

Unarmed combat: S: S-1 , R: melee , RoF: 1 , AP: - costs: - Special: -

Armour:

Light armour: armour save: 6+ costs: 5bc

Heavy armour
Metal armour: armour save: 5+ costs: 10bc, -1 M
Combat armour: armour save: 5+ costs: 20bc

Power armour (needs skill): armour save: 4+ costs: 80bc, -1 M, +1 S

The armour save will only be negated, if the armour piercing value is as high as the armour save.
That means that a power armour helps against lots of the weapons

Additional rules regarding injuries:

If injured but not OOA, roll additionally on the crippled limb table:

1,2: crippled head: cut BS in half, (second head crippled result = OOA)

3,4: crippled arm: cut WS in half, can´t use any weapons anymore, which needs two arms (second arm crippled = OOA)

5,6: crippled legs: cut M in half (second leg crippled = OOA)

Skills and level ups:

Instead of BS upgrades specialize on small guns, big guns, explosives or energy guns (three levels each):

Repair (three levels):

LockPick: Open locks (1: easy, 2: average, 3: hard) 1 xp after successful test

Medicine: heal with stimpack 1: 2 wounds heal one addicition after game (and/or crippled limbs), 2: 3 wounds heal one radiation after game (and/or crippled limbs) 3: 3 wounds (and/or crippled limbs), 1 (only 1 although you have more physician) reroll of on injury roll if physician was not OOA 1 xp after successful healing of other friendly fighter

Science: hack computers (1: easy, 2: average, 3: hard) 1 xp after successful test

Luck (3 levels): 1: repeat 1 W6 per game, 2: repeat 2 W6 per game, 3: repeat 3 W6 per game

And so it starts

Welcome  :D

There are quite a few Fallout threads kicking around in here.
The mod seems like a good start, looking forward to seeing more.

Hi and welcome. I have never played Mordheim but I think the Fallout universe would make a perfect fit. Small gangs of scavengers fighting over some valuable pre-war treasures in the ruins of post-apocalyptic America? Yes please ;)

I just finished playing New Vegas two times back to back with different characters (one good unarmed and one evil cowboy sharpshooter :D).

Also check out (besides the various projects on this board) the "real" Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel tabletop game:

Welcome! Excuse me if thats a silly comment, but I will drop the idea anyway.
Isn't Necromunda a closer starting point to Fallout than Mordheim?
I never played necromunda, but i assume being both GW games, mechanics will not differ too much.

@Donpimpom:
Basically you are right, but there are some differences. I do not like the Necromunda melee and munition rules and i know the Mordheim rules much better.

I may look on the Necromunda weapon rules though.
On the other hand i want this mod to be deadly so i need some weapons with more fire power

@Cherno thanks i will check this thread. I already have the rules, but i love the campaign possibilities of Mordheim.

I am currently wotkin on the basis of the warbands/ factions.

Hello,

this time i need your help.

I did a major update of my rules. I included lots of experiences of my second run of Fallout New Vegas and currently i am quite satisfied with the current progress.

I needed to file a lot of tables. All these tables i cannot copy into this forum, but i very much would like to upload the current pdf of my rules, so you can review them.

Is there a cost free service on the internet? I think yes, but can anyone send me a recommendation for one?

Thanks a lot.

You can do it via Google Docs.

Thanks Cherno.

I try it the first time so please give me feedback if it works:

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B7-UBqUOR3sVd240YWRiM3FhbzA

The tables were needed to put more options in it. This is not possible in a post layout anymore.

I am currently waiting for some scenery and miniatures, to test the rules a little bit on my own in fine looking setting

I hope you like them so far and can give me some feedback what you think about them.

I decided to give my rule set the first test run:

I had minis for an russian based mercenary warband and a Legion warband.

The red army started with five heroes:

Mercenary 500bc

Leaeder Igor Abramowitsch: Assault gun, combat armour, sword (= axe). 185 bc

Champion Ivana Larianova: Service Rifle Combat Armour,  115bc

2. champion: Victor Streltsi: 10 mm pistol, saber, Combat Armour (= axe) 90 bc

Initiate 1: sawed off shotgun axe, combat armour 60 bc

Initiate 2: single shot shotgun, axe,  combat armour 50 bc

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion/SDC18162.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Legion 500bc

leader Titus Pullo :)
Power fist, single shot shotgun, grenade launcher /3 grenades, combat armour 190bc

1. champion: 3 frag grenades, 10mm sub machine gun, combat armour 120

2. champion: Service Rifle, combat armour 115bc

1. Initiate: Vermin Rifle 25bc

2. Initiate: 9mm pistol, axe 25 bc

henchmen: 1 wardog 25 bc

I will  post more pictures and a short report later

Ok next steps.
Overview over battleground:

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion/SDC18163.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

It was the aim to capture the car wreck in the middle of the complex on the street within 6 rounds. The side with more models within 4 inch of the wreck wins the game. If one site roots voluntary or involuntary the other side wins.

The red army started on the southeast corner, while the Legion started in the north east corner.

Both side advances and or searches sniper positions.
At the end of turn 2 the charge of the wardog on one initiate failed and the wardog was shot by one initiate and one champion and went dwon stunned (with a crippled head). The picture show the status after the red army turn three before turn three of the Legion.

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion/SDC18165.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion/SDC18165_comment.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

the most important battleground:

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion/SDC18166.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Round 3 of the legion was huge mess. Neither their sniper nor their leader or any of the champions hit anything with their guns submachine guns or grenade launchers.

On the other side round 4 of the red army was devastating:
Their leader Igor Abramowitsch shot the one Legion champio behind the barbed wire, hit and wound him all three times with 2 criticals which reusulted in a ricoche which hit snf wounded the other legion member in 6" This one  was also out of action. The red army sniper also stunned the legion sniper with his second hit and crippled his legs. The champion Victor Streltsi and the Initiate Alexei attacked the wardog in close combat and took it OOA.

After this devastating round the battleground looked like this:

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion/SDC18169.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Titus Pullo refused to root and shoot a grenade on Victor Streltsi and also hit the Initiate Alexei. Alexei was stunned and Victor lost one wound and was saved by his combat armour.

The red army striked back and nearly took Titus Pullo OOS by reducing im to one wound. He was in a very bad postition and decided to root voluntary in round five. The target was already claimed by 2-3 red army warriors and next round Victor Abramowitsch would have had a good shot on him with his devastating assault rifle.

Some comments to the game: It was really funny, the rules are working fine so far. The battle was fast and very deadly.

Today my NCR warriors and my local militia arrived. They are so awesome and will get some paint soon.

Ok i hope these pictures will result in some comments ;D.

It is really lonely when nobody gives feedback  :'(

Ok i stop crying:

the last time the mecenaries of the red army were able to conquer a small outpost.

After the battle the red army occupied the outpost.

I'd like to see better pics of the models. The overhead type photos don't show anything.
As a fellow Fallout gamer I'm interested in seeing your take on the models.

I did another playtesting game and show you some pictures.

Scenario: Treasure of Tenpemmy Tower

The tower and the subsidiary building needs to be searched. Alltogether 7 stories can contain the treasure of Tenpenny. The towers are crowded with ravening ghouls and some nightstalkers

First the pics after deployment:

Both warband advanced, while the legion searched closecombats the red army was ver sucessful in eliminating the enemy via range combat

The leader of the legion fought hard and took several ghouls OOA, but his troops and wardogs were not so succesfull. Unfortunately he fought an atrcion battle and neede too long to eliminate the ghouls.

The red army was well positioned and started to shot some granades in the legion directeion, while the legion was still fighting with the ghouls. The range combat of the red army was very succeful and several legion heroes went OOA.

Although the mercenaries were able to find Tenpennys treasure they were bitterly disappointed. They only found 9 bc and Tenpenny snow globe (lucky charm )

Lesson learned from the secons battle:

The Mordheim basis works very fine: I adjusted the quickshot rules after the battle, because and assault rifle with quick shot is in a hand of an experienced marksman too deadly. Additionally i will furtheron slightly adjust the energy weapons.

I will build two new warbands, because i learned what would work and what not and i will adjust the rules for the legion to make them a little bit more powerful in close combat.

SerialMoM,

You've made some lovely terrain.  What do you use to for that gritty texture paint?

Thanks Baconfat.

Unfortunately i can not tell you how the gritty texture paint was made, because i nearly collected every piece of scenery over years.

I'm loving these battle reports. If I had more time to actually play games, I'd definitely give this one a go.

Mordheim gives a great base to start with, and converting to post apoc in my opinion.

Thank you,

regarding time or not enough time,  this is also an issue for me.

Especially the job and the family decreases  the hobby time intensively.

But then you have to appreciate the little time you can invest more.

I playtested yesterday a liitle bit more. iwill post some pictures later but currently iam happy how the battle works.

Now i need to find a way to include skills like repair, science and lockpicking more in the games.

Maybe i have to work a little more on the different factions, because currently they are pretty similar. The advantage is that the balancing is easier
Maybe i can also include a kind of reputation system. For example helping the NCR as town militia gives you positive reputation so that im later games random encounters like NCR troopers help you instead of fighting you. ( BtB has something i may use as basis)

I also need an monster compendium. Ghouls, dire dogs and nightstalkers are already integrated. I think supermutants i also have covered. I need radscorpions, ants, fire ants, Yuao Guais, cazadors, robots.ikeeyebot Securitons and of course Deathclaws.
I am also thinking about a single player hero variant with an AI system for opponents etc. For such a system you would need to generate lots of scenarios for different levels and maybe an different more detailed level system.

Ahhh too many ideas to less time.

Next test battle:

I built new warbands for the red army (mercenaries) and the legion:

this time it was a rescue operation for one scout of the red army. He fled on the top of an tower with spy information with an Yuao Guai on his tail. The site who is able to root the opponent will rescue / capture him along with the important data.

red army started with an sniper rifle for the leader one assault rifle and hunting rifle for the champions and shotgun and 10mm pistol for their initiates. Expensive, few people and good weapons

The legion started with an missle launcher (1missle) and several grenades and dynamites for the leader. laser rifles for the champions and only 9mm pistols for the initiates and two wardogs. The legion was focussed on a mix of closecombat, explosive and energy weapons.

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion_game_3/SDC18212.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

After the setup bot side advanced:
(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion_game_3/SDC18214.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion_game_3/SDC18218.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion_game_3/SDC18220.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

the red army decided to use their leader with sniper rifle and the assualt rifle hero to give support fire which was very eefective in the first rounds.

The legion also advanced, sometimes without good cover:

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion_game_3/SDC18221.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion_game_3/SDC18222.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

As consequence one Initiate was taken OOA and the two dogs were stunned with crippled limbs. At that point it looked really bad for the legion. Especially as the leader loaded gis missle launcher and aimed at the red army leader. He needed a 3+ to hit but failed.

But this was the bottom, because the shot only deviated for on 1" an took the red army leader one wound. This was better than nothing and the signal to be better. The two legion champs shot with their laser rifles the red army champion with hunting rifle was stunned with a crippled limb.

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion_game_3/SDC18222.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion_game_3/SDC18223.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Then after a very bad shooting phase of the red army (only one wound at the legion leader), the legion advanced

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion_game_3/SDC18224.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

The legion leader threw a dynamite on the red army missed and the deviated explosive took the injured champ OOA.

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_Mordheim_Red_Army_Legion_game_3/SDC18226.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Then everything went fast. Another Initiate was takenb OOA by laser rifle fire, the second one fell back and also was hit. After another devastating bad shooting phase of the red army the legion stomred the bridge. And only after the legion centurio took the red army sniper OOA the red army fled.

Another small update on the painting front:

I bought plenty of wepaons for my Legion guys, because basically they are an Mordheim pit fighter warband without sufficient weapons to survive in a Fallout world:

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18276.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18277.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18279.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Then i was able to finish a heavy weapon guy with smal machine gun / minigun:

The paintjob is not so amazing but i am happy that i finihed him:

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18280.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18281.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18284.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

and i finally i also finished a flame thrower in the same style:

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18285.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18286.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18287.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Maybe i can show you these minis in battle soon.

What's a machine gun in Warmachine is more of a belt fed automatic 25mm (although those look like 40 mm) grenade launcher or cannon in Fallout.

Next update: more wrecks!!

I was busy in trashing some more toys:

but first a before and after comparison of the car wrecks:

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18303.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC18296.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

New is this wreck of a truck. It is not an amrican truck but nevertheless i like what i was able to do:

Next model: i found a nice bomber which i also wrecked a little. It is not reall crashed but it did an emergency landing and was not usefull anymore (the cockpit burned out)

Last but not least the wreck of a yellow jeep

@emperorpenguin: Thank you.

I hope you like the scenery in the next battle too.

This time i wanted to use my new wrecks and some adjusted rules. I alos was able to give my legion soldiers appropriate weapons.

The hide rules in Mordheim i do not like so i modified them that a model which hides additionally gives a minus 2 for to hit if being shot at.

The mission was to collect those 5 weapon chest (golden markers red X in picture 2). The winner is who conquered the majority of the targets until the end of sixth round

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Battle_IV_Legion_vs_Red_Army/SDC18321.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

The legion started the game and until the end of the legion turn 3 everything looked balanced

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Battle_IV_Legion_vs_Red_Army/SDC18322.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

but then hell broke loose and the legion lost 3 fighters in one trun including their leader

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Battle_IV_Legion_vs_Red_Army/SDC18323.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Battle_IV_Legion_vs_Red_Army/SDC18324.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Battle_IV_Legion_vs_Red_Army/SDC18326.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

the legion rooted:

I alss developed some rules how to find more or less damaged and rare weapons within these weapon chest. I also found a way how to integrate the repair skill in the game.

The adjusted hide rule worked quite fine.

Maybe i will update my rules soon.
Title: Re: Fallout Mordheim Mod - picture heavy with rules- battle report 4 up (23.12.2012)
Post by: SerialMoM on December 31, 2012, 12:13:03 PM
next rules update:

I decidede to decrease the power of the leader and champions by reducing their W stats to 2 and 1 and reduce the I to 3 for the leader:

I also modified the cripple rules. Now there are more different body parts on you won´t be OOA if both legs are crippled. you are just really slow.

I added rules for finding equipment to have a better use for locpick and repair skills.

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B7-UBqUOR3sVZlVVTUstTVROX1k

The next update will be seperated warband lists and hoepfully i can improve the layout a little bit.

Hi again,

due to my workload and my kids it is hard to find some time posting pictures:

Here we go with the Brotherhood of Steel:

The second heavy wepaon operator with mini gun and a Laser rifle warrior:

and the whole bunch:

The minis are from Brother Vinnie and the paintjob is unfortunately not mine, but i thought you would like to see the pictures anyway.

The NCR bunch i will post later, although they are too modern for you. For me they are perfect and i really love my 12 man battle group

Really like your BOS figures but I'd have used the NCR Ranger figure as well, an NCR ranger to go with your troops, rather than as a scout for the BOS.

I think the sniper mini is really generic and of course you can use it as fine ranger for NCR, but for the warband i have in mind that not only power armour warriors are fighting but also some recruits in combat armour.

i wish Vinni would sculpt some more Fallout minis. Especially some more Brotherhood and
Enklave minis.

I need to go know, later i should find some time to post the pics.

Don't see him as generic myself, he's based on the NCR artwork http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/NCR_ranger
Even down to the moustache, water backpack, ranger patches on shoulders and style of armour.
But agree that BV should release more!

There are some similarities, but this picture could also my current Fallout character in combat armour. I chose the same beard and hair color

What i want to say is, neither the gear or the beard are unique for the NCR. A berret would help for, but basically he can be used as NCR, mercenary or in this case Brotherhood scout/ sniper.

Dunno Serialmom, the gear looks spot on as Ranger patrol armour to me, Rangers don't wear berets, First Recon wear those

Anyway, will you be doing an NCR ranger in your force?

Post by: SerialMoM on March 03, 2013, 10:10:42 AM
With the berret you are right i mixed them up with the typical mounty hats.

The second picture you show might be the used as model for the sculpt.

You are right with what you are writing, but what i want to explain and maybe i lack the english skills is, that a guy in combat armour with sniper rifles and glasses and this typical beard (in German called as "Pornobalken") could also be a mercenary, my Fallout character or a Brotherhood scout. I will search for pictures of the BoS base in Fallout 3 where you see lots of trainees in combat armour. And i think this sculpt fits also well for this use.

But i have no problem that you use him as ranger, because this fits very well.

Ok, now i come back posting my version of  NCR squad:

As the BoS mini before they are also an comissioned work.

I hope some of you like them like i do

They're really well painted, better than I could manage, but to me they just don't look NCR. The style of helmet and the armour is much more like Combat Armour as worn by Reilly's Rangers or Talon Company

The Brotherhood recruits in Fallout 3 wear recon armour, it's the undersuit of the T45d power armour, they don't wear combat armour

It looks to me that you are really are a perfectionist :).

The helmet form is not perfect, but for me the color scheme and also the weapon choice ( mainly guns from the gun runner arsenal) is sufficient that they are a fine NCR squad. I am sure if BV would make them they would be even better but for now i am really happy.

I have a surprise left i hope i find some time soon to post it.

They do in Fallout and Fallout2 and so forth, that is enough for me, the so called recon armor is as you say an undersuit to the powered armor. Off course in the early fallout games there was not much differentiation except in broad strokes. For myself I mix and match looks between all the incarnations of Fallout depending on what is at hand miniwise or what I think looks good for me.:)

A small surprise.

Some kind of wip though

It is a behemoth.

A friend of mine built him as Warhammer giant and finished the paint job for 80%.

He did not like him anymore and so i got him years ago.

I nearly finished the paintjob.

Hope you like it, although the hide is missing the green colors i really like the brutal look of this model.

Yeah i am atill alive.

Just a short info.

I have around 20 raiders painted, which are waiting to be photographed.

I personally painted, 11 object markers, 5 ants (3 worker, 2 soldier ants), 5 robots ( 3 protectrons and 2 eyebots) and painted 6 more minis for my Brotherhoodof Steel warband.

I did quite a lot of tweaking of my rules ( complete new advancement process, in which you can choose every skill or stat upgrade for each of yourheroes and henchmen)), integrated rules to buy or build robots to use them as warband members, and updated the warband rules for 6 different warbands. I also did some playtesting ( ~10 games or more) and i am currently very happy how well it wored.. I hope to find some time tomorrow to post some pics.

Of course i am happy if you motivate me additionally.

I will post severap smaller updates, in which i also descirbe some things about the rules.

Although i am not posting my rules today i will give you some headsup.

I radically changed the levelup process. In Mordheim you have to roll every levelup, so that in the end a magican can get 3 A and S6 but do no get the possibility to leran new spells.

I want to change this for Fallout because in Fallout you can choose everytime wahat you want to level up so i also want to do it so.

Now it is crucial to level the strenths of the skills: Everything will be a skill (for example Gun1 gives you +1 BS for shooting gun weapons)

I also integrated Barter, Science, Medicine and Repair as skills.

To strenthen their use you can build robots if you have enough level of science and repair in your warband.

For example: Repair one and Science 1 gives you the ooportunity to build an eye bot, protectron or Mr. Handy. Of course you can also buy the robots from a merchant but you build them at price for yourself and can add any upgrades without searching for them (better armour, better targeting system etc.)

some protectrons

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19996.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

eyebot:

Ok next small update:

How abou some ants?

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC10006.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC10008.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

I am working on a scenario which includes those ants. I created rules for normal ants and fire ants.

Soo today i want to show aou six more Brotherhood of Steel members.

This time i painted them myself, i hopy you will enjoy them too.

The first one i wanted to use as some kind of scientist, but mowi have to say that this mini has the look of a leader

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19984.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19985.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19986.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

then i have 5 more henchmen, heavily armed with energy weapons one with explosives.

Although i know these weapons have not the perfect Fallout look, they are sufficient for me.

First one with Plasma rifle

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19988.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19989.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

2 more fighters with laser rifles

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19990.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19991.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19992.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

The next one is a female fighter with a grenade launcher

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19993.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19994.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Last but not least a fighter with a nice flamer/incinerator.

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC19995.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

I tgink the last 5 minis will wear combat armour, although the last one could also wear some kind of power armour, like the "scientist" with plasma pistol.

I hope you like the pictures.

Maybe i will find some more time today to post he pictures of the raiders and the new version of the rules

Thanks for all your kind replies.

Ok today i post a major updates including the rules.

Please do not forget you need to know the Mordheim rules, my current rule set is not perfectly self explanatory.

But for those whoe know and love Mordheim you should adjust fast:

First the rules document:  https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVems3dVJqdkptbG8/edit?usp=sharing

Second the Warbands section: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVcHNvT2xEVmVNNXM/edit?usp=sharing
In the second document the rules for 7 different warbands are available. NCR, Brotherhood of Stell, vault Exploration team etc..

Now as promised yesterday more raider pictures.

Those are not painted by myself i commissioned them.

At real size you also see a difference between my skills and the commissioned painter, but with these close pictures you really see a big differnece because they are painted so exact.

the Leader:

Would like to do most if mot all in plastics. Any ideas lads?

EE giving stuff away free? Something smell in Denmark! "no offense to all you Danish players" these are some of the smarter "untampered" rules GW put out. These and Necromunda classical are just right for non "invasive" brain surgery rules and they can be tampered with for other genres to play most skirmish style escapades. Well worth the "free" download.

Loving the raiders, good to see what my cultists might look like when they're finished!

I took the chaos star as a different symbol, ended up writing up an entire story for the mini-faction!

"Sons of the Atomic Sun".

Think Sons of Atom with crazies and guns..

The ants look lovely, too.

About those : the big ones, are they on 30mm or 40mm bases ?
And above all : where did you find those ? I've been looking in toy stores around Halloween the last 2 years, but couldn't find any decent sculpted and decent sized ants  :'(

@messyart:  I like your idea of the suns of the blazing suns cult. First thing i thought when i saw the raiders was fiends.  Like in Vault 5. But the i looked on some in game pictures and they does not fit, but i was sure the minis fit to something in the game and i found the pictures of the Fallout3 raiders, although the leader looks like the "vampire" with the shishkebab. I need to search his name.

My scorpion are nearly finished, but RL needs me today so i do no think i can post them today or tomorrow.

I found him very early during my second play through and is used every explosive i had at that time, especially for Vance i used three frag grenades.

Ahh i love this game.

And he found this safe, in which he thinks that the important weapons schemes are deposited. He has to bring them back to NCR command.

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/SDC10163.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Unfortunately his lockpicking skills where not sufficient. :'(

Back on the ground, it happened what is shown above. The scorpions living in this ruins felt disturbed and hunted the intruder.

Two days later NCR command send a bigger team to search for the schemes. What will happen then?  ;)

Hey pals,

i found some other fine Fallout stuff:

This time it is a coproduction of mine and the artist who did make the industrial scenery:

Highway commercials!!!:

Basically it was my idea, and i serches for the pictures. The transaltion of my idea in physical reality was done by my artist.

More pictures

some additional tanks:

Thank you

Great pictures.
I too would be interested in the rules...

 here they are

First the rules document:  https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVems3dVJqdkptbG8/edit?usp=sharing

Second the Warbands section: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVcHNvT2xEVmVNNXM/edit?usp=sharing
In the second document the rules for 7 different warbands are available. NCR, Brotherhood of Stell, vault Exploration team etc..

I would be very happy about yourfeedback. I know it is a lot to read, but maybe i am lucky and i can ignite your fire.

Hi,

Ok i made a major rules update:

I threw out the injury roll system, bur gave the crippled limb system a mjor role now. I hope this will feel more like Fallout (of course less than Mordheim)

I also changed the rules regarding the weapon level and their potential use.
the rules does allow to use now weapons with higher levels with a penalty. I find it "unrealistic", that without gun level 1 i know how to use a 9mm pistol but nor a 10mm pistol. Now it is just more difficult and dangerouse with explosives, because you may be not so sure what this lever on a frag grenade does :D. So there is a risk that those explosives can explode in the hand of the user if he does not know what to do..

Additionally I adjusted the find ressources rules and the sell ressources table. I think to only give heroes which were not OOA a D6 to find ressources leads to a playing style which tries to save the heroes too much from danger. Now every heroe which was OOA and survives gives you a D2. This stands for the things the hero found before the skirmish battle.

Please also load the warband sheet, i was able to omplement a pipboy picture for the crippled limbs. Yeah nerd power!

Fallout Core rules 11.01.2014: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVWmEzX3FBRFBBdU0/edit?usp=sharing

Fallout Warband rules 11.01.2014: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVZm9HMHZIdVZiY2c/edit?usp=sharing

Fallout Warband sheet 11.01.2014: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVT0wtdGRWaXNZX1E/edit?usp=sharing

Additional to the currently available Fallout warbands concept I am working on two more playing concepts:

Fallout Squads and Fallout Hardcore raw draft https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVWmEzX3FBRFBBdU0/edit?usp=sharing

1) Hardcore mode: A singleplayer mode (and coop mode): You start as grunt with an ordinary profile M4 WS3 BS3 S3 T3 I3 A1 W2 Ld 7 grunt with one level 0 weapon (worth 5bc) and additional 1d6 bc. The value is around 50 bc

2) A single player or multiplayer coop experience were you start with a core troop which can lateron evolve as a warband but for now it is a very smal group of maximum 5 fighters with one more or less experienced leader as hero and henchman. The starting value is around 200 bc.

First raw draft of the rules: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7-UBqUOR3sVT2hNV253RUY4UHM/edit?usp=sharing

Ok the rules are not so exciting.  ;D Maybe the pictures and battle report from a Fallout Squads battle will interest you more. But for that you need some patience.

Let´s see: I post the same minis as in the painting club.

My first vault exploration team heroes:

Brad, Mary and Lee: Fallout Vault exploration team (Manufacturer McVey miniatures, Sedition Wars):

URL=http://www.imgbox.de/](http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC02543.JPG)[/URL]

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC02551.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Maybe they need some correction on the eye paintjob. But today my hand was not calm enough.

Hope you like them nevertheless.

Wow we had a blast tonight. Two friends of mine tested a game of Fallout
squads wirh me.

We played a game with three squads ( Brotherhood, Legion and Vault exploration team) and tried to clean out an Raiders infested industrial ruin to find some precious ressources.

It locked good for the legion and the Brotherhood in the beginning. They destroyed the enemy troops they found. The VET was unlucky and found the leader with his bodyguard with the first blip and fought several rounds until they finally were put OOA by them. Unlucky bastards.

The legion conquered one ressource and found a 40mm grenade launcher but were then circled and finally also destroyed in the last desperate try to combine their forces with the Brotherhood.  ( I know they do not like each other, but when you look in the eyea of a major force, you just try to survive, right?)

the last man standing the paladin then fleed from the battlefield as six raiders were following him.

I post pictures tomorrow ,but i really liked the way the rules were working.

I need to adjust the critical hit table a liitle bit (we played it also nt completly as written) and have to slightly adjust the enemy troop table.

The crippled limbs table as alternative to the injury rolls worked very well. The adjusted close combat to hit rules worked very well.

In the after battle the legion leader died, the VET leader was sold to the pits and survived the bartle but lost one sniper henchman which will be replaced. The leader also leveled up and chose quick shot as skill to combine it with the plasma rifle.

The Brotherhood Paladin also leveled up but lost his physican.
With resilent 2 ( = 3 wounds) he is a tough bastard in future.

I try to play a solo Fallout squads game tomorrow. My vault team need to come back.

Over view: golden blips are not known enemies:

It was looking great for the legion:

but got in deep trouble:

Last man standing:

Battle field after the legion and the vault team was put completely OOA.

The Paladin was fleeing from the battlefield.

Hi pals,

I had in between another game, one with friends and another one soli.

We had fun but a friend of mine had a great idea to fasten up the game and make heroes more important. So henchman will beOOA after they lost their last wound, heroes on the other hand will have crippled limps before being OOA.

I am currently updating the rules, and adjust the prices ( make heroes more expensive)

I also have some pictures for you of messyarts finests

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/image.jpg) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/image13.jpg) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Three of his Deathclaws.

I sourced this job also out because my job and family cut my hobby time short and somehow I
currently does not like painting too much. It will come back, but on the good side I can show you some more minis in future.

The current minis in Wip are my local town militia. It will be more Mohave cowboy style, so they could fit to Prim. I am looking forward to see them painted

Thank you.
With the Fallout Warbands variation up two 15 and in some cases some more.
But normally you start with 7 to 10 people depending on their weapons.

In the beginning i believe also with my rules the Deatclaw would cause a bloodbath, but an experienced warband with good weapons, will be able to hunt one. I also believe that 2 or more warbands who combine their firepower have a chance quite early

If the normal Deathclaw is to simple it can be upgraded like in the computer game. Those rules I need to write.

But the shaded skin looks a bit funny - especially front on around the knee. Is the model surface flat there? Looks like you painted a gradient (very smoothly) do create muscle mass.

Thank you pals

I have some new nice pictures for you

Enjoy:

I played a round of solo squads to test the rules. My loyal readers may recognize the new gaming mat.

I pledged for the frontline games kickstarter and received this mat yesterday. I have to say this mat is awesome. But please look yourself.

In meantime I can write that the rules are working quite good now.

I started a new vault exploration squad with Douglas O'Shire as leader. The target was a safe in the big building.
the area was infested by raiders.

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08159.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08160.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08162.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

The first raiders attacked. On vermin rifle shooter with two dogs

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08163.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

After a two short range combat phase. the raiders were elimiated.

The next 4 raiders were found and they attacked

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08164.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08165.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08166.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

Some good shooting eliminated the threat quite fast. The last blip also revealed four raiders.

They were eliminated too, but unfortunately I lost Kayle O' Hara.

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08167.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08168.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08169.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/DSC08170.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

To only give the heroes and enemy heroes the Pip boy option with th crippled limbs accelerated the game very much.

Douglas earned alltogether 7 exp and leveled up twice. Sarah O'Hara earned so many hero points so she can choose the lads got talent with the next levelup. The squad fullfilled the quest and found/ earned two ressources and sold them for 70 bc.
They also found three vermin rifles two melee weapons and two dynamites.

Very nice painted Minis. The Deathclaws came out very cool, but I think the Combination of the bulky Muscular Sculpt and the more Fleshlike Colortone let them look a bit like if someone flayed their skin.

I know what you mean, but I believe ( hope, experience) without the direct light for the foto the effect will be less intensive.

But there are so many great artist around, so I am just lucky ebay exists and two people get what they need.

You can order this mat in meantime from

Although the kickstarter was an unpleasant experience I decided to let them be painted.

I think some of the sculpts are good, but some are quite bad.

After more than 2 years I decided to post here again.

I did participate in the This is not a test kickstarter and did not read the rules for a long time.

Few weeks ago I did and I was really instantly hooked.

I also founds some guys in my club to test the game with me today and for that I prepared some counters.

SerialMoM, that's a heck of a thread, very nice minis and terrain, CONGRATULATIONS!

Your take on a Post-Apoc setting using Mordheim rules reminds me of the good old days of playing with the Rogue Trader rules in the original GW Route 666/Dark Future setting in the early 90s!  ;)

Great job on these AAR! I've recently picked up the hobby again and I still can't quite believe how many people create Fallout tabletop games without any official miniatures or ruleset! Thanks for working on a ruleset - I've been struggling with the lack of any kind of guideline for a while, but now I have something to look into in the next few days.

(http://www.imgbox.de/users/SerialMoM/Fallout_gemischt/IMG_1050.JPG) (http://www.imgbox.de/)

The battle was fun, although5 parties did really extend the game.

No one captured he egg of the Deathclaw, the Deathclaw was killed quickly and the NCR did win the game by shooting anyone stupid enough to try and collect the egg.

I really like the rules of this is jot a test.

The activation system is excellent and TNT has ome similarities with my rules, which I like ( skill system.). The rules are not Fallout rules per se but they are quite close so you even identify easily the Fallout factions in the warband section. Also the system for the campaign with the card deck is great.

The rules are not too expensive (25$ for the pdf), so I really recommend them

Interesting. I'm viewing these on Macs. If I right click and 'View Image' they display correctly.

It could be something to do with image size, I have seen really large embedded images display incorrectly more than once.
