This will be our first laser-cut building kit, hopefully ready for release before the end of November. Consisting of over 120 laser-cut wood, styrene, and resin parts, this builds into a Victorian house with removable roof and floors designed for 28mm RPG and skirmish gaming.
Basic carcass, showing pre-cut styrene elevations designed to hide joins and provide a better surface for painting:

Overall shell with applied stonework details - designed to disguise the join between floors as well as providing more interesting texture. Mansard roof massed out in foam.

Test geometry for the roof & dormer windows (just before our laser blew its focussing telescope and held up progress, hence part-cut pieces and hand-finished bits to continue with the prototype. Resin cornice details tacked in place:

First couple of roof elevations with applied styrene tiles, rear view showing back door and chimney massing:

More applied detail, WIP front staircase, tree and APEX Hooper for scale:

Finished kit will have resin external stairs, chimney, cornices - laser cut ply carcass, internal stairs, walls, window frames & details, styrene elevations and details.
It'll be followed shortly afterwards by a handed, part-ruined version of the same building, and separately available baseplate with lasered paths and detailing. Lots more of this planned if this one proves successful....
so you could have an entire street in Arkham if you had the space... :D

Will this model be for sale? if so, when? Through whom? How much?
Thanks,

yes, soon, Fenris, reasonable I'm sure
-
That looks seriously promising!
Good spot, thanks for passing it on.
-
Saw this on Frothers. Absolutely fan-freaking-tastic! :o
One blenches at the potential price, though...
-
Ian's stuff is always good value though... be it big or small...
-
Great looking building.
Look forward to seeing it when painted.
-
I just need to know the price and save up....wow!
-
Very, very nice. I've quite a few Fenris pieces and they are all reasonably priced. This does actually look like it's worth a bit, which may mean a correspondingly high price. On the basis of what some companies are charging £50 or more for mdf buildings, this easily looks like it's worth more. Fenris' mdf railings will go very well with this too.

Aiming to be cheaper than that....
-
Now this looks good!
-
wow looks fantastic already!
-

Really? That's superb. That comment was meant as a complement by the way!
-
Today's work on the working prototype...dry-fitting roof cornice, test-cast chimney stack, and corner flashings....

I'm a fan of your stuff as it is but this is a raising of the bar!
-
Oh, my giddy aunt!
This is really looking the business.

YES!
-
Not much done on this recently (too many other RL bits in the way this week...) but the front stairs, door mouldings and porch rooftops are almost ready for moulding....

-
Bloody hell! :-*
Take my money already will ya!
-
I want to live there!
-
Looks good.
Puts my EoTD buildings to shame.
Could you do one that fits inside an A4 copier box (easier for storage)?
Would it be suitable for a 1900 legation building for China?
-
Ian, how will they measure at the bottom? Need to do some math on a Arkhamesque area :)

This one is 158mm w x 250d x 215h to the top of the chimney pots.....other buildings will vary in size, both bigger and smaller...aiming to produce a whole town's worth eventually, including all the obvious horror tropes like a church, warehouse/factory, city hall, seedy cheap housing, fancy town shopfronts, rundown shack, creepy barn, town bandstand, roadside store/petrol station & pumps....any other horror/period tropes I've missed?

Well that's me skint for 2013! This sounds brilliant. I'd look to use them for pulp, WWII and modern zeds. That one statement has stopped me buying anyone else's stuff till I see what's coming from Ian.

Awesome Ian, thank you!
I'll just have the depth and width in mind when I plan the streets, and then we'll see what happens :)
Awesome job by the way, and I do really look forward to this release! :-*
Any price thoughts yet? :)

Any price thoughts yet? :)
Yes ;)
Hoping to have pre-order deals up in the next couple of days....assuming the power comes back on in the main building so I can get the last few bits done on the laser.....
-
OH, exciting, thinking of what silverware to sell off....
-
Well, the power's been off in the main building from 8am 'till 4pm, so the planned finishing details haven't been cut out today.
Just had time to test cut the first run of ironwork for the roof, though...
-
Oh, so going to buy this!
-
There was me thinking how much I wanted one of these, but it would not fit into a British setting.
Then I remembered that this building is only down the road from my workplace and realised that it just might work:

"One of the most architecturally interesting buildings in the area is at 549 Lordship Lane. The so-called "Concrete House" is a derelict grade II listed building and is an example of 19th-century concrete house. It is believed that it is the only surviving example in England.[7]
The Concrete House was built in 1873 by Charles Drake of the Patent Concrete Building Company. In 1867 the builder had patented the use of iron panels for shuttering rather than timber."
It is currently being restored.
It just might work!
-
I am into this bigtime. I can see where my hobby allowance will be going for awhile.
-
:P
more great architecture.
@ Mason
Good to see the "Concrete House" being repaired - an earlier one from the 1850's can be found here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_House,_Bridgwater (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_House,_Bridgwater)

@Mason. Love that house!
A pity that it took so long time to get restored (and yes, if I was a billionaire I'd probably buy it on the spot).
@Ian:
Cheers! Do look forward to the first end product of this project, although the amount of details might be a bit daunting :D

That is a rather bizarre looking building for that period!
The one that I posted has a strange recent history, where the owner tried to neglect it until it fell apart, so as to build new flats, until told by the authorities that he was responsible for its upkeep.
He then built a copycat building right next door, I assume that he was thinking that no-one would notice the difference between the two!
It is now being restored, and I suspect that is being performed by a new owner....
In the originla picture (which I cropped) you can see the copycat house

Weird!

Hello
I wondered if there had been any updtaes on this project?
Thanks

Wow, stumbled on this just now... promising indeed. I hope that it will see the light soon!

Oh yes, quite
-
Damm, this has slipped off my radar and the pre-order slipped through. *grumble* But I have been in that boat with my mother having a large tumor removed the first of December. Oh well, have to wait for the regular orders to open up and buy away.
-
Anything happen with this?
-
It's on pre-order on the Fenris website. It looks really good.

-
I know that pre-orders have been sent out.
Not sure about current availability at the pre-order price though...
-
Thanks, I'll drop an email over and see if there's any available.
-
From recent contact with Ian, my understanding is that this one and another as yet unseen will be available at SALUTE

HI all - real life did, indeed, intervene, but I'm catching up fast and have most pre-orders sent out now. Hoping to have the finished kit on display and available at Salute, along with another, smaller piece in a similar vein. Salute price will be full price, still happy to take orders at the pre-order price if anyone is desperate and wants to save a few quid :)

Great news about the new model (first of many I hope!)
Great any idea of the full price?
And could preorders be picked up at salute (rather than posted out)?
-
Full price is going to be nearer £60 rather than the pre-order price of £40 - time on the laser has proved to be a bit longer than expected, and the materials have stacked up (4 sheets of 3mm, 1 x 1.5mm, 1 x 0.8mm ply, 4 sheets of 1mm styrene, 12 resin castings). Happy to take orders for collection at Salute to save on the post but you'd have to pay upfront to get the cheaper price, sorry !

Great, how soon will you be closing orders for the £40 price?
Thanks
