For our Achtung! Cthulhu Kickstarter we're planning a stretch goal to unlock a set of 6 Allied Heroes, 6 Nazi Villains and 6 Mythos creatures in 28mm, as forerunners for a much bigger collection of specialist figures

Tell me what mythos creatures you'd like to see 're-done' or perhaps WW2 interpretations?
We have our Allied Heroes sorted and I'll be posting some concepts here soon

I vote for some byakhees. There are not many around, while there are plethora of Shoggoths and Deep ones. Maybe some players would appreciate to have hybrids with WWII area weaponry. I don't know what a fire vampire figure would look like, but it is a suitable opponent for any investigator party. I could find some use for nice a flying polyp, too. Other creatures that I can imagine in a weird WWII setting are some chtonians, and Hunting horror. As far as I know, there is no really satisfactory Hound of Tindalos miniature (I don't think it should look to much like a mundane hound).

There already are a few good ranges of miniatures directly connected to the mythos (my favourite: http://www.fenrisgames.com/shop.html#!/~/category/id=2202438&offset=0&sort=nameAsc), so I guess giving into ww2 interpretations might be a real benefit: ghouls in nazi outifts, mad germans with stolen Mi-go technology or mutated simian creatures, etc. Hellboy comics got a lot of material that could breed inspiration for those. just, please, no nazi zombies ! There's already plenty of them

The setting of WW2 lends itself perfectly for a Cthulhu style game. There lots of intetesting materiel with historical background to expend on. I just hope it will be original and that the subtlety of true horror that is inherent of the stories Lovecraft wrote will be acknowledged. It seems to me that a lot of the 'alternative reality/history games are becoming more or less the same. There is lots of zombies, the usual supernatural creatures and then the obvious 'weird' technology like walkers. But here's a chance to do it differently. We'll see.

We're working on interretations of Cthulhu mythos creatures that make sense for WW2
I mean... Yankee Ghouls in khakis? Soggoths in process of digesting Waffen SS soldiers cf. Soggoths in Bloom? Deep One allies of the Japanese with rising sun armbands?
I've always seen (the best) HPL's creatures as quite period-free, based on the ideas conveyed to me from the stories. Obviously some rare descriptions like the Yuggothians' brain cylinders date them but still.

I'm wouldn't go for the books however the Nazi villains and mythos creatures in WWII style or very interesting, will probably pledge for them when they show up.

Our latest update confirms we've unlocked the full 248 page Shadows of Atlantis campaign for Achtung! Cthulhu, free on PDF to all backers of the PDF Master Bonus level and upwards. We are now climbing towards the last goal to fully unlock the Assault on the Mountains of Madness campaign - here's another piece of concept art from Korungn.

We announced a fantastic set of floor plans and tiles by the amazing artist Henning Ludvigsen. We'll be producing underground Nazi bases, snow covered outposts and brooding evil ruins of the Elder Things! Check out the the example tiles he did for the very cool Mansions of Madness game by Fantasy Flight Games:

Well, it's exactly as I predicted earlier. Not my cuppa I'm afraid. Shame tho 'cuz the Mi-Go looked promising (and not solely because it didn't time itself by carrying a Japanese army armband a whatever). Will have to give these a pass, unless you get to pick which 6 critters you want.

Would prefer the commando with less clutter.
Especially the gun and helmet. They don't make sense - how did it attach them with those webbed hands? Why has it collected them - not for use, water would do the gun no good - and as trophies, why lug around something large and cumbersome? If he's going to take a hat as a trophy why not just take the head that was inside it? Probably in a small net bag, like scuba divers use.
To be fair, my main issue with the gun and helmet is that it limits the use of the figure. Without them I could use the figure for other settings, VSF, 1920s, SF, etc. but with them it's just 1940s or 1950s. For me, a multi-purpose figure is a better option in the current financial state of play.

Could use him for Doctor Who or 7TV as well - they have just brought out scuba divers.....

As Deep Ones are no stupid animals, I am sure it finds a way to use the gun. lol

We're showing off more miniatures sculpts and concept art tonight - it's unlikely we'll be able to show all the sculpts before the end of the kickstarter (it was after all mainly an RPG kickstarter) but we are pledging to refund ADD ON's for miniatures and Miniatures only PLEDGES if people aren't happy with the sculpts once they are unveiled.
We've unlocked an Add On for ONE WAR - an Introductory Wargame set in the Achtung! Cthulhu universe using cards for units, orders, random events and solo play. See below...

I just pledged at the "any higher and my wife will scowl" level. Really excited about this project - the art previews are flipping gorgeous. I even have an idea for converting the boring-ish nazi zombies - head swap with the plastic mindflayer heads on the WF shock trooper sprues.

Tho you don't mention it here, it's mighty decent on you to allow one to pick all six critters to be of the same type. Obviously in principle it'd been even nicer to allow any mix and match but I can most definitely live with 6 Mi-go 8)

I'd like to see a really badass Warrior Shoggoth.
Like, one carrying an 88 anti tank gun, reloads and a big slab of metal to use as a shield. And embedded in the middle of the goop is a tank commander dude with some devices that let him control the beast.

I went in for Ultimate gamer and will probably be swapping out a few of the villain sculpts for seconds of others. While I likely won't be playing the RPG due to lack of player interest, I am still quite looking forward to reading almost 2000 pages of WW2 Mythos-themed stuff! :)

I was tempted to get in on this for a buddy (as a gift)...but I think I'll wait to see the real product. I'm a bit too weary of renders and promises in the Kickstarters. I will definitely be getting some posters if I can swing them.

I received a newsletter update last night which had these pictures of the Miniatures, they are the lower res printouts, and according to newsletter final models will be printed out high res prior to going to the mold.

I almost added the second monster set, but it would have cost me another 15pounds in shipping. Since I don't *need* miniatures, like ever, I held firm with my original pledge level. Looking forward to reading the books when they come out.

If you fancy helping us dream up a new miniature now's your chance. Imagine Investigators or Heroes, Axis/Nazi Villains or terrifying Mythos Monsters! Simply give us a name and a few lines describing them, or tell us what powers and abilities they have! After 18th May we will pick a winning Investigator / Hero, Villain or a Mythos Monster to turn into a real 28mm miniature and whoever comes up with the concept will get the first 10 miniatures to field in battle or give to friends!

My "just for you sir!" custom made Mi-Go set (one each of the said critters from the KS IIRC) today. They are finely done minis and as far as I can tell, all the (many and various) bitz are included as well -- a nice exception to the KS pledge deliveries of late. Two thumbs up for Modiphius 8)
