Title: Pulp Alley Scooby Doo League
Post by: joroas on 07 April 2014, 11:31:40 PM
Just putting the finishes coats on the Hasslefree figures.  Has anyone attempted a league for these chaps/chapesses?

I've bought them with that intention, but not even painted them yet. Looking forward to seeing a photo of yours when they are ready.

Very cool idea.  ;D

But whose going to be the Leader?  ;D

I feel like the Harmless ability would be a good fit. Also Dandy and Brainy.

Could go with the Companions perk, so each Ally gets an extra ability. So maybe Velma could be Brainy and Harmless, and Daphne is Dandy and Harmless.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.  lol lol

...and Shaggy is Brainless and Harmless!

And of course, once you've got the gang you need the Hex Girls......

Is there a Harmless ability?  I just looked through the main book and Perilous Island and I didn't see it or Companions.  Those would be great abilities to have because I want to put Hercule Poirot and Mrs. Marple in a league.

Yes! It's a playtest ability which has more or less been finalized.

The (current) text is as follows:

Quote
HARMLESS:
This character has no dice in Brawl or Shoot. They may not be rushed by an enemy over 6" away. In addition, this character never counts as the closest target or in line-of-sight unless the enemy is within 6”. Add +1D to two other skills (included)

I put this to a panel of experts (4 year olds) and it was unanimously Fred.

The Hasslefree ones are on my list, but I really want a Victorian version of the gang to go with my Victorian Pulp Alley setting.

Yup, those are a couple new abilities/perks we're looking to include with the Vice Alley book. Please feel free to test them and let us know what you think.

Companions is a 1 or maybe 2 point perk (still being fiercely debated) that will work something like this --

> Companions -- This league can not have a Sidekick, but each Ally starts with one additional ability.

I have been wanting to get the gang for a very long time - and maybe also the Post-Apoc version...

Is there an UNARMED/Brawler option in the works - other than Animal (I think it's called - I cannot check the book right now)? Brawl allowed, but no shooting. I've used Animal on a Sidekick brawler, but it seems somehow unapropriate for a human...  ::)

I think I have both sets, but most certainly the PA versions.  It'd be fun to run a mini-league to see people's interpretations. :D  Are we able to get this going?  Mayhaps ask the mod?

Animal is probably the top ranked renamed ability. And we really do encourage folks to rename the abilities to fit their own personal tastes and setting.

But having been personally called an "animal" many times in my life, I can assure you it is sometimes very appropriate.  lol lol

Here's one of the funniest examples of renaming abilities -- http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=64955.0

Oh, there are a couple No-Brawl abilities planned for the Vice Alley book -- currently called Brainy and Dandy. If I remember right, I think they looks something like this ---

> Brainy -- May not Brawl , but adds +1d to Dodge and Cunning.

> Dandy -- May not Brawl, but adds +1d to Dodge and Finesse.

Is there another ability like Animal in the works? No. Because Animal is just so damn flexible it's been nearly impossible to create a reasonable alternative, short of simply giving it a different name. So I've decided to leave that to the individual players.

Those new abilities are perfect for defining "thinkers" rather than "doers".  Monsieur Poirot will be mincing across my table soon!
