The new Quar cavalry picture are out! and they are very strange but very cool too, as all Quar stuff is.
-
Well they're quite weird. I like them though.
-
Whoa! VERY weird in a grand sort of way - do they have a name? Dunno, something like Hammerhead quarbleats? Lovely stuff - they might be the strongest argument to convince me to get some Quar. 8) 8) 8) :-*
-
Personally, I think the rider will fly over the front of the beast every time it stops short. I think they look like a cross between a pig, a horse, and some of the Regiment games Drantakh (or whatever they are called).
That being said, I'm glad they went with something a little alien in nature even if I don't see it working well.
-
Nice in a different kind of way. I do like the Quar but have no possible use for them so they will be a "only when theres a gap in the painting schedule" kind of thing for me (as if!!).
I do like these beasties though - are they naked? or saddled? What I mean is are the saddles attached to them or the riders?
-

The Quar were comparatively slow to invent stirrups, and for precisely this reason never quite got the hang of the concept of shock cavalry until late.
They are incomparable engineers and siege fighters, however.
-
We must have some Quar Lancers in plumed helms!!! lol
The mounts look wonderfully bizarre! :o
-
The riders are excellent, but I can't decide if I like the mounts or hate them. I must go over to Frothers for the no-holds-barred true skinny.
-
I'm with Mancha. I can't decide about the mounts. They look a bit too much like headless horses. But then I like them again. But then I don't like them...
Anyway I have some Quar infantry in the queue before I even think about new stuff.
-
Aw, well, now that´s... unexpected.
I really like the overall look and the riders, and the mounts´ bodies are great, but those heads are awkward. But that could be easily remedied.
-
I can't please everyone! Ya either love em or hate em. :D
Its a bit like the new Star Wars films. You already have an idea in your head and then...
-
I like the heads, it's the bodies I'm not so sure about. As has been pointed out elsewhere, they are very horse-like.
I think if the legs were about twice as long (or more even, push it to the limits of what is practical) they would have a great alien, spiderish but still equestrian, look to them.

You mean like this?

We were close to that at one point, a little shorter, and hadn't realized it!
-
I have decided I like them. I've got to get going on my infantry so I can justify the purchase.

I think I've arrived at the same set of decisions, and will order a couple cavalry after I've finished my LMG crew and officer, who's about 85% done.
-
Well I was on the fence about liking them too and then made my purchase within minutes, I am a certified Quar nut. “Down with the Crusades”!!

So I have to ask: Why does everyone think this? Riders don't smash into the necks of their horses when they stop. You don't ride a horse up on its neck. The saddle and stirrups keep you seated and you, you know, hold on!

WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH Nelllie...... well even thought I was on the fence on them I am glad they are something that I was not really expecting. Graet Job Josh.
I almost went over a neck of a horse only once. and that was because the dam thing jumped a fence and I was not expecting it but as Headzombie said hold on

Hey now, you need to give us the skinny on the quar vehicle you mentioned over at Frothers! Has it been previewed anywhere? Did I miss it? I have some 1/35 kits I was going to bash up but I'd like to see yours first.

It's really close to public release. Keep in mind that Josh is a one-man shop doing the sculpting and casting all by his lonesome. The running joke, though, is that it'll be out "any day now."
I've seen it, though, just to rub it in... :P

There I go quoting myself again. They proved to be too good for me - I finally descended into the Quarzone with an order for a cavalry pack of 6. And some bits, one can never have enough bits. As a fop to my conscience, I have decided to only ever purchase models which are mounted on beasts or vehicles or fliers. Although I could always do a transport and get foot troops riding in it..... :o
-
Woo hooo,
My PCs are down both home and work so have been quiet of late, that and working away form home for the last 2 weeks.
Lovely stuff, expect an order Josh when I can get online on my new PC :D
