Title: Scottish/English Civil War Project (Update Pg6)
Post by: flags_of_war on 25 May 2014, 06:35:25 PM
Here are my first two Covenanter Dragoon units along with Dragoon Command. They are for some skirmish ECW house rules that im going to trying out soon. I have done them as the Frasers Dragoons that fought at Marston Moor.

Figures are Bicorne and Flag my own.

Beautiful, I used to have a large army of Covenanters for WECW a mix of Renegade and Redoubt, lovely minis all.

Worth thinking about a unit of highlanders too if you fancy that route. the redoubt figures are lovely bar the heads but plenty of alternative heads out there now

From memory I have 5 regiments of foot, 2 units of hihglander and 3 of cavalry. They were a nice steady force with a nice little punch against Royalists and Parliament. Frame guns were fun too

It's a set that David and one of the guys from the Edinburgh club have put together. Basically a mixture of alot of rules available converted to ECW Skirmish.

Very handsome paintwork - and the flags look superb (not paper, surely? Foil?)

Rather annoyingly, that clean-shaven officer with his hat held down in his hand (in the last picture) must be one of the few Bicorne / Renegade ECW figures by Nick Collier I don't have in my collection. And now I wants him, Precious  ;)

Do you happen to know which pack he appears in? (Is it one of the artillery crews, I wonder... )

Flags are all my own paper flags that i have on the site mate.

The figure actually comes from the Dragoon Command but i have way too many Dragoons and he added something different to foot command figures.

Rebasing the Covenanters onto multibases.
Finish off Crawfords (i was giving 4 bases of musket so just need 4 bases of pike and command)
2nd Covenanters Regiment
Fairfax Regiment
2 Troops of Horse

This should be enough for my Solemn League and Covenant Force (For now) and we have a few other guys who want to contribute some Units for the game.

More than welcome to join in if you are going to Claymore. No one at the Glasgow club has ECW in this scale and the guy building the Royalist force stays in Leven.

It's David and I who are doing this game. I do try and get up to Leven to get a game now and then. I will be going very soon for a run through of this game. Also the Edinburgh club is a half way point for us that i need to use more.

Ah, I sort of half guessed that David might be involved!  :)

Yeah, SESWC is a great club and is really worth going to. I've noticed after talking to a few of the guys that they're not frequenting the club as much as they might do but I think that's down to the logistics of getting there as they still all seem to be heartily enjoying their hobby and playing some really lovely looking games.

to tell you the truth, I wish that we'd never moved from Edinburgh, not that there's anything wrong with the Durham club, which is in fact excellent, but rather that I miss Edinburgh full stop.

Anyway, back OT. Keep up the excellent brushwork and I'll hopefully see you game at some point.

Darrell.

Manchesters and Yesters Regiment complete. 4 more bases and Fairfax Regiment will be complete.

The future aim is to upgare the Manchesters Regiment to 24 bases(96 figures) excluding command to form a Large Double sized Regiment like they had at Marston Moor.

The size of Yesters Regiment will be the standard size of Regiments we will play with. That's 12 bases of 4 to a Regiment.

It will look great once all done. Just need the bloody Royalists to take pics of their army now.
