Just noticed that, as a by-product of the car crash taking place at TMP at the moment, there's a new forum being set up by Angel Barracks:
www.thewargameswebsite.com
Not a lot to see yet, of course, but will be interesting to see how it fares.

Hiya,
Thanks for the plug!
It has been an idea that I have been toying with for about a year or so.
We (wife and I) set about starting it a few months back but were in no immediate rush, recent events however prompted us to get a shifty on and we have launched it earlier than planned.
It has some pros and cons compared to other sites, but in a few months it should be all singing all dancing!

Hi Mike - great looking site and now duly registered. I hope this can now become my new home from home!

Thanks Sparker!

Good luck with the venture AB. I'll certainly be popping in from time to time.
-
Looking good - joined up.
Do you have plans for adding a pulp forum at all ?

All registered! +1 for pulp!

I also have signed up. Very nice start you guys. Add my request to the others for 'Pulp'.

I will add a pulp section tonight!
-
Good stuff indeed. Will this replace the AB 6mm forum too?

Well done that man!

Nice, I'll have a look around when I have proper internet connection again.
Having been more or less "off the grid" for a bit, what's the TMP car crash that prompted this?
-
........ what's the TMP car crash that prompted this?
Don't ask. Awful (and still ongoing) series of events: lots of mud slinging, lies and double standards. Has done a lot of damage to the already poor reputation of TMP.
Best of luck with the new forum Michael.

TMP bashing (right, wrong, indifferent,) will get this thread locked so let it drop, please.

Just had a look. Has the makings of a good site, I reckon.
You've just gained another member!

Pulp section added, under sci-fi.

Nice to have a UK forum, joined as well.

Hi, glad you have joined.
It is not a UK forum though really, it is a global internet forum owned by 2 English people.
We want to make it clear it is a global community where ones nationality is not of much relevance.
In fact I suspect the amount of UK users are much less than 50% of the total users.
Not having a go at you by the way, just want to make it clear that everyone is welcome regardless of nationality.
:D

good luck with the venture

I'm in as well
Cheers

I'd say I'm already here. ;)
Looks nice. Though based on 'other forums' (note plural), don't let that chit chat thing take over or poison the forum. And jings, don't call yourselves editors. Way too much baggage with that term. What's wrong with 'admin' and 'moderators'?
-
If there's a trading section, try to somehow make it like LAF, as it works well. The other site works well for North American (almost exclusively American) trading, but I won't pay to use it any more. I'd rather... eBay!

Thanks, glad you like it.
There is nothing wrong with admin or moderator, what is wrong with editor?
;)
The thing is…
We view TWW as a web magazine, it has a news section, it has a magazine article section, it has a forum, it has adverts and so on.
If it were just a forum then moderator would seem a good fit, however as there are things we actually edit, and as we see it as a magazine we chose editor.
It is just a job title, nothing more or less.
Admin seemed wrong somehow, maybe a bit misguiding?
You could be forgiven for not knowing it was our business if we called ourselves admin, you may end up asking who is in charge.
After all, with real business and this is just that, admin staff are not the owners.
But then owner seems like we are trying to distance ourselves from the community by rising above the normal site members.
We liked editor as we are indeed editors, it seems not too aloof and not too junior a title.
You know, like Fireman Sam being a fireman, Postman Pat being a postman, Doctor Spock being… wait what?
You get the jist I hope.

Hi there is a trading section, it is accessible to Sponsoring members.
Sponsoring members get access to the Magazine Articles that are published, they get access to the Sponsors forum, they also have a say in how TWW is run.
This month also, the fees for Sponsoring members will be donated to charity.
Sponsoring membership is just £1.00 a month for all the above and it helps keep TWW running.

What Wordpress theme are you using?

I hope it does very well.

Hi.
May I suggest you contact TWW direct rather than post here?
;)
Blind luck I saw this, drop me an e-mail via TWW and I will investigate for you.
I will need some info though, the e-mail you registered with should be enough.
Michael.

I found my backup copy of clues to passwords (cleaning up is such a dangerous activity.)
good for now.
