New York Bop rules played out today using Gangs of New York as proxies. The battle resulted in Bill the Butcher and Priest Vallon going toe to toe with the Butcher having to withdraw to lick his wounds. Despite withdrawning he was soon set upon by some by gang of Dead Rabbits looking to become famous and it wasn't long until the Butcher was lying under the knives.
You can also see prototypes of the gaming aides. Great fun and enjoyed by a first time player.

Great stuff. I love the miniature brass knuckles :)
-
Looks great. :D
-
The board layout is really nicely done! Richard
-
Great looking game.
Love the park.
-
Excellent report.
And wonderful board and figures as well! :)
-
Lovely looking game and miniatures but, for me, your photos are spoilt by all the coloured markers. I liked the Knuckle dusters though.
-
Fantastic visual spectacle.
They really had some wild trouser patterns going on in those days, didn't they?
Must have been difficult to paint but you have nailed them.
-
My focus is to get the buildings painted, finish off the docks and get some scatter terrain for the table.
-
Lovely figures and terrain, it's nice to see cobble streets grunged up a bit. I kind of agree with Rob about the colourful markers detracting from the look but if the rules call for it then that's the way it's got to be. They are after all nice markers and I like the way they wrap around the circular bases.

Those minis and terrain look phenomenal.

Perhaps you can paint the markers so that the blend in with your scenery a little bit better.

Looks good to me mate 8)
Can't wait to see you carry on with the terrain :)
cheers

If i ever did a Gang of NY version of the rules id prob look for something different as i don't think it fits in with the feel to the game. They are designed for the 70's rule set, the also don't need to be place on the table. They can easily be marked on the character cards.
I have nearly finished painting the second board and have also finished the Monument that stood in the middle of Paradise square in the movie. Buildings have been getting painted too and i hope to get some pictures this weekend when i have another game.

Love the board, and your painting is excellent! My own NY Bop board has stalled, sitting sadly in the garage... :'(

Fantastic looking board, and I love the genre. Can you tell me more about the rules? Are they specifically for this period?
As to the markers, I am afraid that they are here to stay and most of the games that I play use them to excellent effect. In my opinion, they are a decent trade off for less off-table bookkeeping and forgetting important factors. The notion that they " spoil the look of the game" may be true, but strike me as very much a hold-over from the early 21st century Chris Peers school of war gaming where he's constantly chiding us in his rules not to use them ;-) I do agree that for photos meant to show off painting and terrain one can pick them up, however. YMMV.
