Taking a break from Japanese terrain, thought i would have a go with the minis from the operation icestorm boxset for Infinity, first up is a couple of Panoceana figs
-
Very nice mate, love the blue :)
cheers
James

Agreed - the blue looks very vibrant, and their faces look very grim and determined! :D
I'd be tempted to do a little more on the bases though, as their legs sort of blend into it a bit at the moment... Some grass tufts maybe?
Look forward to seeing the others. :)
-
They look great.
-
I've always wondered about the magazines on these things... lol
Nice paintwork.
-
Thanks guys, I agree the bases are a bit crap, will look into getting some from Antinociti in the future

Sorry, I didn't mean it like that - there's no need to go and buy fancy bases either! :(
I think the texture is too "big" for the drybrush - some patches of finer texture paste (or glue and fine sand) would add a smaller texture to pick up the drybrushing more evenly. Some grass tufts or static grass would also add a bit of variety to them and finish them really well. Finally, I think a colour other than grey would also help to separate the base from the boots.
The bases you have a good start, but as I said, they just need a little bit more I think.

Cheers, i will definitely sort the bases out, thanks for the tips, will give it a go :)

I absolutely love these models. Your painting style lends them an almost cel-shaded look that really pops. Great work!
-
Very vibrant blues there! Nicely done.
-
Two more minis finished except bases
-
The blue is florescent. Nice work.
-
The blues are difinately nice, but the faces are really great - you've given them all lots of character.
-
Great work. Very intriguing highlighting on the upper legs of the female figure.
-
Ohh!......they're nice! 8)
We really do need the recipe for that blue. It's great. Especially on the big guy.
What about just Green Stuffing the bases? Just do a thin layer and draw some lines in it, to look like concrete.

I love your style, very impressionistic, very personal!

Thanks for the replies, I will try the green stuff bases, very good idea, the blues I used were 3 GW paints, Caldor blue, telcis blue and lothern blue with the final highlight of pale blue by Vallejo. Should have a couple more done tomorrow
-
If you want something similar for your bases, but don't want to use putty, Ash Barker has a good solution here (https://guerrillaminiaturegames.wordpress.com/2015/02/15/general-hobby-tutorial-making-urban-bases-from-scratch/). What's cool about this is that you can use anything suitable (even thin card) and can also apply it to the bases afterwards if you prefer.

Another two finished. One more then on to Nomads

Impressionistic was my thoughts too. It works very well on these minis. Nice work.

Very effective painting, makes the minis shine. :-*
As much as I admire the studio paintjobs by Giraldez, it's so nice to see different approaches.
