Title: Elven Warband-The cavalry arrive.
Post by: Skrapwelder on 14 January 2016, 04:33:49 AM: I'd welcome some feedback. Here are some pictures of a test batch of Elves I've done for my Dragon Rampant warband. These are for the Light infantry. I wanted something more Dark Ages than most offerings. I made these with Tanatus Saxons and some Elf heads I got from White Knight. They work well with the Otherworld Drow. I was happy enough with the conversion to have placed an order for enough Saxons to finish out the warband.

I'm using Otherworld Dark Elves for Elite Foot.

I think the slightly thinner style of the Tanatus Saxons adds to the overall effect. Please post pics of the completed band once they're finished!

They look great and I think that you may have solved my 'which Elves for LotR?' quandary for me.

They look to be of more realistic proportions, which is to say they are thinner than most 28mm figures and might be suitable for elves. The pity is that they don't look very dynamic.

Ethelred: The Normans look good and would probably work if the size was right. Their proportions are nice.

The other figures I tried this with were Artizan Carolingians and I wasn't happy with the proportions of the head to the body.

I'd like to see what other ranges of Fantasy/Medieval figure ranges there are out there with more realistic proportions.

and the Heavies.

As you can see, I've finished a good number of the converted Tanatus miniatures. This is about half of my intended force complete. I've got another two dozen foot to convert and paint before the infantry is complete. But before I do that I'll be starting up on converting some Warlord Sarmatians into Elven cavalry.

I have eight models total. Six will most likely form a unit of Elite Riders, maybe with the Mystical Armor option. The remaining two will be the army command, Elite Riders as well, which I may add a spell caster element to.
