Title: WDM Scenery
Post by: Sangennaru on 30 January 2016, 11:12:43 AM
Hello everyone! Let me apologize as a first thing for my lack of activity here on LAF lately. I'm mostly on facebook right now, and unfortunately my website has been deleted and all the backup requires some long nights to be put online again.

SO: here i am with a new sculpt. It's a building, around 10 cm tall, for White Dragon Miniatures (http://www.whitedragonminiatures.co.uk/).
Made with several different techniques, that's the final result.

Some close ups of the details:

Aaand, some more details and barricades that will go along in the  White Dragon Miniatures (http://www.whitedragonminiatures.co.uk/) online store:

And, for the WIPs lovers (as i am) some peeks:

Please let me know your feelings and impressions, i'm really curious to hear from all of you.

If you want to follow this project more, i'll link here again my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thelazyforger/

Thanks y'all!

That looks awesome, I just don't want to assemble all those tiny parts!

Wait: it's a single resin block! We will ALSO release ADDITIONAL components to add, such as more A/C units, antennas, shop billboards, railings, ladders. But that's only for who want those. All that you see is in the "basic" and "plain undetailed" building.

Any details on the other items that are going to be release - I'd be interested in any building components.

Sure thing! we'll have several sets read sooner or later! for now we're experimenting the cast of the first building (it's in the silicon curing right now!) then we'll decide our marketing strategy! But rest assured, we'll have good stuff! :D

Thank Mr! More to come soon, i just decided the look of my next building! Stay tuned!

Brilliant! :-* How about some 28mm ones now? ;)
28mm buildings are HUGE... it's almost impossible to have them cast by someone and make even the slightest profit out of it! =( Believe me i'd love to, but i should start producing them for myself only, as you do with most of yours!
This way, what i'm sculpting is going to be kinda-mass-produced, which is something new for me! ^_^

Besides, i'm lately really into 15mm, so cute and so easy to carry around! :) Not to mention cheap!

Cheers

Thank you gents! It really means a lot to me, and encourages me to build more!

Speaking of which... i started the new building. No pictures have been taken so far to the structure, (unfortunately i forgot to take the first pictures so now i'm not really motivated to make a proper step by step tutorial... next one!) but you can see a sneak peek of a part of the external detailing of the final build:

Oh yes, my friend, there will! ;)

That's already a lovely piece ventilation duct, I can only imagine that this building will coincide with the release of a special edition 15mm Bruce Willis!

Seriously though, it would be awesome!

So good to see that there is more in production, hopefully available to buy soon.

Those are incredible miniatures! But it's not my website! I'm just the scenery sculptor!

Hopefully my scenery line will be able to keep with the quality of the rest of the range there! :)

I will order one of these soon!
Congratulations!
Within days there should be an update with a couple of scatter terrain (the ones you can see in the previous posts in this thread). Should be priced reasonably, so you might want to wait a handful of days more to get them too, if you are interested!

One day... for sure! :) At least i'll have to finish this range, when it's "mature" i'll really consider moving to near-future 28mm settings. :)

EDIT: To the admin that added the [COMMERCIAL] tag: Thanks! I didn't realized it was commercial, but since i'm linking to the store.... seems the right thing to do! :)

Some updates: Since we faced some logistical issues while producing a large building like the one above, and since 15mm sf-ers are quite tight in budgets, i decided to experiment with a shanti building too: Smaller, lighter, cheaper.
Besides, i'm having a LOT of fun!

external structure done; all the details still to do. The roof is removable, still to figure out how to cast it at best!

Thank you Jag!
Oh, i use several metal sheets. However, the one of this sculpt is this:

Once i finish using one, i always keep the metal and flatten it out. It has a good ratio between solidity and malleability! :)

And some progresses on another set of barricades. This time, tall barricades tto block the LoS. Still very WIP, though.

Incredible work. I have no use for 15mm either, but I'd love to see you make 28mm at some future point :)

Thanks =)! I would REALLY love to do something for 28mm in the future, indeed! But i wouldn't start a big and heavy project without a client ready!

This is awesome stuff! As I'm probably selling off my 28mm sci fi and getting into 15 (first with the Halo game), I may end up buying some.  :)

That sounds great! I heard about the Halo game, i can't wait to see people starting to show it around! :)

Anyways, comment and critics, as well of suggestions, are really welcome! Where shall i move next?

Updates on the tower! Finished detailing. only the inside roof needs some finishing touches, but nothing too relevant.
Here's just a few pics.

Next in the workbench: sending all to the client-caster, while working on walls and some smaller concrete buildings!

My original statement still stands, but that is a thing of beauty! :-* I can imagine some stunning tables with that on it. I can almost see the South American jungle surrounding it now!

I've just received my order for the hab block and I can confirm it's excellent quality. The production mould has kept all the lovely detail seen on the master model. A beautiful piece of work.

Oh, i didn't know that jens dropped pardulon! That sounds like a serious compliment, thanks!
Too bad that right now this range is paused, since WDM is focusing on the spaceship game, and we're not sure when it will start again.
I am discussing about a similar project in 28mm with SPECTRE miniatures, but it's still not sure. I'd really love to have a full working range one day or another. :(

And after more than three months of silence and inconclusive answers i should probably forget about Spectre miniatures and look somewhere else.
Any suggestion - contact about some 28mm manifacturers interested in this kind of buildings - maybe smaller or ruined ones?

Thanks
Jack

Cheers everyone!

A few updates from the front:

first - my endeavours with 28mm have finally started, so my works in 15mm are being reduced partially.
second - the various sculpts shown here were at ROBIN in Nottingham last weekend, and it's always a satisfaction seeing models on stands.

(pics taken by Uti Long Smile from Crooked Dice Miniatures (http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk), thanks chap!)

Third - i've started two more shanties, they'll see the light hopefully soon! Since those will be closed i am starting this time

Also - the Hab Block is now produced with a different casting method and the price is now much more reasonable, which is a plus.

Soon updates! :)

Cheers,
Jack

updates on the second shanty building so far!
I wanted to add more verticality to the game with a playable rooftop area, and this shanty turned out to be slightly larger than the previous. Well, almost double in size.

first panels in position:

A little more done:

Hello everyone!

While lacking inspiration to complete the building above, i completed a third building that will be part of the same set of shanties.
This time, the core structure is in form concrete, but i added a nice backyard full of random scraps for the joy of all the painters out there.

As always, C&C are welcome!

I'm aware that 15mm isn't the favourite scale around here, but any impression and sculpting suggestions are always precious!

Thank you
Jack

So cool parts ..... unfortunatly in 15mm  :'(  At the last Shanty to Formconcrete looks very cool but I bet some people will be irritated by the vertical pattern instead the more common horizontal. Non the less, very very beautifull builds!

WDM will definitely produce them! Alan is pressing me to finish them ASAP! I think they'll be ready for the next conventions, but with shipping and everything one can never know!

Thank you Delta! :) I try to diversify, working both in 15mm and in 28mm alltogether! Here's my current 28mm project:

And this one almost done as well:

As for the horizontal planking lines, i agree that are more common, but to be honest i've seen plenty of both around. Since i started doing form concrete models i really pay attention to that everywhere i go! ^_^

Cheers everyone! Two new shanties have been done for the range, and i'm sending them to Nottingham ASAP!

Shanty house 4: I wanted to include something "older", such a plastered concrete hut, around it the rest of the building is shaped.

Shanty house 5: more like a chemical lab in a hut, with air vents and tubes running on the roofs. Lots of oil barrels for the... well, whatever they need.
