First previews are up. '84 comic version and 2012 cartoon version of Raphael.

Hm, I wonder if the actual production figures will turn out. A lot of their 3D previews look better than the final result.
-
Better get some acetone soon...
The paintjobs are dreadful but most of the times the casts are very good once you get rid of the gunk they call paint.

Exactly. I just hope they produce enough of these as I have a feeling that a lot of non clix players will be picking them up as well.
-
I think the paintjob of the 1984 version is quite good for a prepaint. Add some shading and highlighting and it'll be even better. On the other hand, from my experiences with Clix models, the production figures will look far worse. I'm sure they picked the best painted miniature from a batch, or even studio-painted it for the promo.
-
The ones showing here are CGI images, not even the real figures. That's been common for a few years now.
-
There were some photos of unpainted figures online a few weeks ago. I don't remember what site they showed up on however. Since WizKids went to 3D sculpts for their models it does seem like the production quality is very hit or miss. When the production pieces are good however, stripping the paint off of them with acetone (be careful) can yield a very nice figure for repainting.
It's a bit of work, but for the prices you can often obtain clix for, it's usually worth it.

So true. Let's hope, it also works with the Turtles! With Star Wars and many DC models it was actually a revelation to see how decent, sometimes even really good, the sculpts were once you got rid of the paint!
-
I am really looking forward to these. :D
My two young sons are crazy for anything ninja turtles related, and they have been wanting me to teach them how to play miniature games for a while now.
I think that this presents the perfect opportunity to introduce them to the hobby.

Another new one up - Donatello

Even I'd find a way to grab up some of the 84 models if they're quality sculpts when finally revealed.
-
I'm a sucker for the 2012 Nickelodeon design. Any idea of a release date?

They are saying march.

This week, we have Baxter Stockman

And a Mouser. Sorry the pic isn't great, but it's all I could find.

You can't fool me. That's Steve Urkel.
Not an especially characterful figure though, is it? All the excitement of an HO scale figure waiting for the next train.

And what is he doing with that left hand in his pocket? Probably got a chubby over the fact that we're getting mass market TMNT figs.

Mike is up now.

Even though I was pretty excited about cheap official TMNT, this stuff leaves me rather underwhelmed.
I own the excellent Greeebo not-TMNT and those are so much better. And even the recently launched Kickstarter had more decent sculpts IMO.
-
I like the '84 ones, not a huge fan of the 2012 Nickelodeon ones though
-
I'm all over the '84 ones. So I've never bought clix before, how long until they are out and where is a good place to buy them?
-
I'm liking them all to be honest. At 40 I was a little to old for the original cartoon though I remember the RPG coming over before hand, never saw the comic as a kid, have read them now though. My boys are mad for the new series so both periods will be must buys for me.
We also got into the series from the 2000's on you tube (yep it's all there) so it would be cool to see these too though it doesn't look likely.
What I really want to see is oodles of Krang and all the mutanimals.
Can't wait to have spiderman and X-men help the TMNT and mutanimals defeat the Krang or the sinister six. Shredder vs Wolverine? The hand vs the foot? The triceraton vs the Rhino vs rockstaedy?
Also I echo fergal about how to buy these. I've only bought supers heroclix cheaply years after they were released. How long before cheap swaps are being sold of these? I'm not sure I want to get into buying packets of miniatures whose contents I cannot see.
-
The hand vs the foot?
Seems almost deliberate, doesn't it? lol ;)

Going by pics here (http://icv2.com/articles/news/view/33733/wizkids-toy-fair-info-images) and blurb here (http://icv2.com/articles/news/view/32451/tmnt-heroclix-product-details-announced), the starter sets might cover a lot of the basic characters and mooks. But yeah, look like rest will be foil-packed. Might be alright if you want a lot of Foot. :?
(I got sidetracked by the dice masters game announced as non-collectible, 'til I realised it didn't involve minis...)
-
Most comic shops will have them. Heroclix are mostly blind purchases. If you want to know what you are buying you can buy them individually from Troll and Toad or Popular Collections.
-
I find this ebay store to be pretty well priced:
http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/woolverine?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2754 (http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/woolverine?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2754)
If you're worried about singles prices, just wait a few months until the next set comes out and there will be a drop on most of the commons and uncommons.
-
So, you just buy random boxes? That's...crazy...
Will there be a box of TMNT game 'clix'? If you buy a case are you guaranteed one of everything? Is this all on a blog somewhere?
-
I don't think you are guaranteed anything unless it's a boxed set. Most of the miniatures will come foil wrapped. I think some people like this aspect of the surprise and collecting, I'm sure WizKids do, what a brain wave that one was.
Anyhow I've picked up loads of superhero stuff at just pence a go, I don't like paying anymore than 50p if I can help it. The big re sellers are great especially in the states so I have to make big orders to make the postage worth it. What I don't know is how long you have to wait for the re sellers prices to come down. Hat guy suggests a few months, can I wait?
I guess the proportions matter to, if every fifth foil wrapped miniature is a Casey Jones but only one in every twenty is a Krang there are going to be a lot of cheap Caseys out there and a lot of money wasted trying to get enough Krang.
-
They do box sets that have a number of figures in it. The others you need to get from the blind booster packs sadly.
-
The sculpts are boring. Why not something dramatic? Three or four people have posted much more dynamic sculpts. Oh look, there's Mikey holding his chucks waiting for the mail to arrive! Where is the bashing, jumping, slicing, hoofing turtles?
-

Release date is sometime this march. (Soonish?).
As for buying them in blind boosters, there is going to be lots available on the secondary market as collectors will buy boxes of them to make up their own sets, then sell the doubles. The more popular ones will sadly go for a little more, but the more common ones won't be that much.
-

Yep, thats true.
If you want such poses, go for Greebos Turtle Fantasy Football team, which can easily be converted.

It's just a cheap option for those players on a budget.

Right here. (http://icv2.com/articles/news/view/33920/wizkids-expands-heroclix-tmnt)

Sooooo March is almost gone, has anyone seen these in the wild yet?
-
The preview that came out for Rat King yesterday just said soon.

I pre-ordered from a local game store and haven't gotten the magic email yet that they have come in. I am impatiently waiting...
-
I was in my local hobby shop today picking up some paint and saw that they had just received their shipment of the Heroclix Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. According to the shop manager, they are scheduled to go on the shelf for sale tomorrow. The ones I saw were beautiful pieces.
-
Thank you War in 15mm!
-
fergal, you are welcome. I stopped by Brookhurst Hobbies today/Wednesday and picked up the Heroclix Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Starter Set. I bought the first set sold by Brookhurst which meant I got the pick of the litter which is to say the pick from the carton. They are very well painted and nicely posed. Good stuff! Richard
-
Just ordered! Not on prime yet, so might take a few days. Pics when they come in.
-
Good to hear they are out...hopefully i see mine soon!
-
Mine arrived today and I was able to pick them up. Pretty solid overall...I think they will look good repainted or even touched up as is.
I didn't get a Krang sadly...that was the only think I really wanted that I didn't get.
-
Is there a complete list somewhere of what's in the set, or better yet, a gallery?

I ordered the 'mouser mayhem' and pretty sure they are supposed to be the 001-004 from above, but disappointingly they have the ridiculous color coded sashes over their eyes, not the all red ones from TMNT #1 :(
Other than that they look good through the package, exactly what I've been after for years. I might get a chance to open them today.

If only there was a way to recolor those... ;)
-
The ones you get in the blind packs have the red sashes...toad and turtle has them for a couple bucks each...i should have gone that way...
-
Troll and Toad. Turtles on the brain :)
-
Still no UK release or even a mention of when. :(
-
Troll and Toad. Turtles on the brain :)
hahaha...thanks...toad and turtle is also a pub near my work so that doesn't help...

Well crap...I even sought advice on purchasing them. These are my first clix purchases and I wasnt' aware of the old Troll and Toad.
Yesss, I know I could repaint them...but I'd still know :)
Looks like it's off to troll and toad, then off to ebay this box for whatever it's worth as I don't have a need for anything else but the figs.
-
No Bebop and Rocksteady... :'(
Oh well, there's still a handful there I'd like.

You're dead to me... ;)

Well, due to the good old Australian dollar, the Gravity Feeds are $5 a pop at my FLGS :?
I bit the bullet a bought a couple anyway, lucked out and got Rat King and Leatherhead. A friend also gave me a Foot ninja he opened.
Given the expense, and the fact that half the set are turtles I don't need, I may be picking up the rest from resellers.

If you are looking for some really interesting TMNT minitaures, you may want to check out the board game being produced through this kickstarter:

Myrlyn: It should be out next month for the backers. I'm looking forward to getting mine :)
-
can you just get the minis?
-
can you just get the minis?
At least in the kickstarter that was not possible. But I think they will aim at selling it like this new Star Wars Dungeoncrawl with Character packs that can be bought seperately from the main game.
