Hullo All,
Must apologise because this is the absolute kernel of an idea, only thought about it this morning but it's really tickled my fancy. So:
I've been playing the early access game Overland (
http://overland-game.com/) occasionally, and really it seems perfect for a tabletop port, maybe with some more RPG elements. For those who haven't seen it, it's a turn-based 'puzzle' game, set in an alien invasion/post apocalypse type world. Looks like this:

(Loads more great screenshots here:

They way I might approach this is thus:
15mm scale (though 28mm is tempting so I can use the excellent Scavenge Skirmish Survive minis).
30cm board
A good car (station wagon probs)
Make a 'strip' of road to add across.
HO terrain.
From there, I can slowly build terrain as it suits so small RPG-esque encounters, like the game maps. So if I want to game them discovering and searching a barn, all I need to make is a barn, quick and easy.
Anyone got any ideas for minis? I know there's quite a few zombie survivors minis, but any other thoughts?
If I was to do 28mm, a 30cm square board is too small innit? I'll homebrew the rules for solo gaming I think.
Cheers
