I don't have any 'civilized' fellows, but when I do, I think I'd like them 'paler.'

My 'wild men' follow the 1889 paradigm, but if they were red, I'd go a bit towards a ruddy ivory, if that makes sense.

Oh, and the question to me is "What color did SOMEONE paint your Canal or City dwelling Martians?"

I think just give them a beach tan and some red tatoos and they'll be fine!

Sun-tanned half-naked technologically advanced barbarians will always look very "reddish" for European explorers IMHO!  :D

Red Planet Miniatures Sky Martians and a soon to be released City Martian.

I went for one of the darker citadel flesh tones. Dwarf flesh i think with a tiny bit of red then a wash.

Well personally, I try to aim for in generally Native American skin colours darkening it for my more wild and forest/jungle people, while lightening the shades for my city dwellers
GM (me) - you spot a 70 year old grey hair little old lady.. Clutching large leather bound book and a uzi.

“Tom”- “She has a Book!!!”

“Danny”- “I put a bust of M4 fire between her eyes” rolls…

Phil- “if he misses I put a shotgun slug in her face”

That’s the Delta green baby"

In all seriousness, I've seen various visualizations of Therns. Could those be 'weird' enough?

Painted white, of course.

I use Space1889 & some elves etc for yellow Martians & paint them a ruddy or mustard yellow. I paint my Barsoomian type figures as red Martians & use a dark salmon for the skin tones.

That explains why the Tharks sometimes refer to the Red Martians as SASHIMI  lol
