Painted my first Zulu
« on: 18 March 2009, 02:52:18 AM »
Hi Guys,

Here is my first painted miniature in this genre of a Redoubt Zulu Induna that my friend Drew gave me to paint as an experiment for when I get involved with the project at a later date.

When I do start I'll be using Empress Miniatures.

The photographs loses some of the detail that I've painted on.

Thanks for looking.

Helen
Best wishes,
Helen

Nice work Helen. I can only say that I started a figure today...but I helped my son build a pile of terrain; based a bunch more and figures too, and got them all matte coated and dullcoated today...needed to as it is suppose to rain tomorrow and then get cold again!!

Very nice indeed, Helen. Welcome to the world of the Zulu Wars. You've got a very good start. As a side note, not to worry, most Zulus didn't wear anything NEAR this much panoply when engaged with the Brits, so most of them will have far fewer details to have to fuss over!

And, as a side bonus, you can easily use your Zulus as Wahehe for that mess in East Africa a decade or so later;)

Thankyou guys, for your lovely comments.

Yep, I know there will be loads of Zulus to do over time when it comes for me to start the project, however, I'm not fussed as it will be a pleasure as I found painting this minature.

Thanks again for your kind comments.

Nice one Helen!  Just between us...  Do you enjoy painting semi-nude men more than those fully clad in khaki?....  lol (Joking, joking...).

Hi Rudi,

Actually, I like painting miniatures in coloured uniforms like the Zouaves etc.
