nbottle's Frostgrave miniatures [Teleportation Markers]
« on: 28 June 2017, 02:13:16 PM »
Hi everyone!

First time poster here. I discovered Frostgrave some months ago and was quite intrigued by the system as a whole - and the generic fantasy setting spoke to me as well. I have only really collected Lord of the Rings miniatures so far, so I got some of the "official" Frostgrave minis to get started, namely the soldiers and undead encounters box and some metal ones. The rough plan is to assemble three war bands as well a small bestiary from these, but it will probably take quite a while to finish; I only occasionally get to do some painting. In fact this thread is supposed to help me with the motivation to get some things done!

First up is a Sigilist with a thief and an archer. Especially the Sigilist was really enjoyable to paint.

I did get a single sprue of cultists and gnolls from eBay to bring some more variation to the soldiers box. The thief's head is a cultist head for example.

And then I also made some treasure markers, which was really fun. For the most part I sculpted them myself, therefor they are somewhat simple. I might do some more in the future to account for "Fool's gold" and similar spells.

This was also the first time I tried to create a snow effect on the bases. Since I am a little limited in my resources, I simply used white paint and then applied transparent glue to give it some dimension. I think it turned out ok, the shininess of the glue actually makes the snow look wet and like it is melting - quite fitting to the setting! This does not really come out in the pictures however.

I am looking forward to your comments, any sort of constructive criticism is welcome as well, of course!
Up next are some cultists, they are almost finished.

Very nice!  I particularly like the magical effect on the Sigilist's scroll.

Thanks everyone!

Where d'ya get the furniture from??

From a local model train shop. I think it was made by "Noch" (noch.com), but I might be wrong. It is slightly too small for 28mm anyways, more fitting for about 20mm I would guess, but it works well as a backdrop for the images ;)

Speaking of which, I have finished three cultists. I am quite enjoying using some different colors from what I usually use for Lord of the Rings...

I hope you like them!

Hello everyone!

I haven't been up to much lately, pretty much the only thing I got done are some teleportation markers:

These are from Blotz, there is some other Frostgrave-related stuff there as well, like tokens for spell effects. I just got some of their mdf ruins to try out, they seem quite fitting for Frostgrave as well.
