A junkyard - more pics 20082017
« on: 08 August 2017, 09:08:06 PM »
I think the pic explains it all - I need to add grit and gravel, and then undercoat the lot.

These come from a big box of parts I've kept for years and never ever used, so I decided to clear them out in the most useful way possible. The board is 1' x 1'. I'm keeping the L-shaped path clear.

Just wait, you'll glue it all down, paint it and then realize you really, really need one of the bits for an important project!! ;)

(I know, I was that man trying to prise it off without breaking it!)

@ Vanvlak: Your idea is epic and I'm really eager to see this painted!
In the meantime, don't add or remove anything!  lol lol

Nah, easy-peasy.  Spray paint a base coat, "splatter" spray a few more coats of other earthy tones, some quick dry brushing, maybe pick out a few key highlights, a tab of metallic here and there, a bit of overspray for weathering and a seal coat with Dullcoat and your off to the races.  All above everything is securely glued in place.  Be surprised how effective it will turn out.

I think this is the approach I'll be taking - one of my very first forays in 40k was a Space Wolf battling a Tyranid on exactly the same sort of terrain, and that's the approach I took then. I might go for a few coloured objects in a dark mass of stuff.

And that is what will probably happen.... :D

Haven't painted yet - but here are a pair of adjacent boards. I seem to have over-shrunk the pic, sorry!
The white channels are rails (yes, I know they aren't really, but the wheels on the GW Ad Mech crane are not flanged railway wheels, so this are the best I found) for the GW Ad Mech crane - hang on, I already gave that away in the bracket... ;D

From the crane set - here is one of the vehicles. I removed most of the upper parts (a sort of remote control antenna and a grabber) and left these for later to give it a lower look and keep it for use as a tractor only. It also fits on my Mother Hydra hlk this way  :D It's deskulled incidentally, said skulls lurking behind the added wheels.
