scale of airfix quick build moderns (and WWII if you can)
« on: 24 October 2017, 11:51:57 AM »
hey guys. do any of you know the scale of the modern war airfix quick build (lego) modern vehicles?
they seem to appear ok once built and the joint lines seem minimal or easy to cover. but I have no idea what scale they are. I was looking around google but couldn't find anything.

(also want to know the WWII aircraft but don't want to make 2 topics)

sorry to put this in future. but nothing exists for modern war. or at least I'm blind and I cannot see it

Based on the dimensions given, the Challenger tank is 1/46 scale.
The ME 109 is 1:39 scale.
The Supermarine Spitfire is 1/42.1 scale.

I would guess they're like matchbox or hot wheels, and are "box scale".  Meaning they're whatever size they need to be to fit in the box, not related to each other in any way.

I would also guess that each vehicle or place will vary, so there may be some that work for you, and others that don't.  But you'd need to check each one.

a 1/46th Challanger is certainly going to be useful
and spit at 1/42.1 isn't too bad.

be interested to know the scale of the hawk and raptor

The VW campervan potentially has lots of uses across a variety of gaming genres. Wonder what scale that is?

Conflicts that Came In From The Cold is essentially the moderns board.

I bought some of these for the kids. As stated the Bae Hawk is pretty much bang on for 1/56.

They are all box scale and whilst I haven't purchased them I suspect that the cars and the VW van are likely to be somthing like 1:24 given they come in the same sized box.

If you can love with the size they ate pretty cool little models. Not overly detailed, wheels up the only option and none come with ordnance but you can't see any obvious joins and they look like cheap kits rather than lego-like items. They'd stand a repaint, although I'd suggest priming them first as the plastic is pretty shiny.

Might have a look at them at Hobbyz R Us.

Okay, I have bought and built the Harrier.

William Killian on a 25mm base.

I will use either a Dare Sisters or a Time Lift Security jet pack head (both from Crooked Dice) for the pilot.
