Over the Hills - Talavera, Night Attack Play-test
« on: 11 November 2017, 07:47:31 AM »
Night battles were not common in this period for all the obvious reasons of command and control in an era that relied heavily on line of sight.

This next scenario play-test proved quite challenging but in the end gave a good little game with plenty of decision points to both sides looking to gain advantage from the chaos of fighting at night.

Good show.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

I second that, the report was excellent, a very original approach as it concerns command and control during night battles!

Thanks for your comments chaps.

This was a challenging scenario design which had both Steve and I debating the various issues the battle posed to the commanders involved and their troops. After much scribbling down of notes and tweaks I think we arrived at an interestng game for both the French and British and one that makes a nice change to the traditional way of playing Napoleonics.

Cheers

It is an interesting problem this scenario, we had fun trying to play it using Black Powder last year.

Nice work as always Jonathan
