Over the Hills - Rolica
« on: 13 December 2017, 07:12:10 AM »
The battle of Rolica makes for an interesting scenario, testing the players skill to conduct a fighting withdrawal aiming to delay and cause casualties without becoming embroiled in an unwinnable overwhelming all out assault.

Of course the Anglo-Portuguese are looking to achieve the opposite whilst also avoiding unnecessary casualties

The order issuing process in OTH adds further to the potential and we tested the idea in this, the latest of our series of OTH scenario games

Exciting scenario playtest! A fighting withdrawal is always a difficult scenario! Demands good genaralship from the players' part, testing at the same time the playability of the games rules. I enjoyed your AAR, beautiful terrain setup! Cheers!

Thanks for your comments chaps.
The key thing about this particular scenario was the order issuing process, outlined in the rules, which can really add to a scenario like this when the pressure to have your troops doing what you need them to do at a very specific time becomes very important.

I have been working on a simple way to record that process and will reveal all in the last play-test before Xmas with the Ventosa Farm,Vimeiro scenario.

Cheers

From your previous AAR it is obvious that you use a methodical approach to rules analysis, which is essential when playing a difficult scenario. Eagerly waiting for your next report!
