« on: 24 December 2017, 10:41:24 PM »
Looking at light boxes on amazon and interested in recommendations for a cheap but decent one so I can improve the quality of my photos for posting.

You want it cheap? Make one.
Cheap also means getting one from Aliexpress or WISH.

I bought a folding light box for £20 on Amazon in April. I just checked and it is now £22. I am very pleased with it.

Here is a thread about it

Looks interesting, i'm not competent enough to make one and tbh i'm not a great photographer so spending too much on one seems like a waste, for reference I generally use my iphone camera, but as I am painting more lately I want to up my post/pic quality.

Agree..  5$ Ali expres one is a blast - its cheaply made but relatively portable and has usb lighting.
Very good buy.

This is the one I bought on Ali Express.

All the pics with white background in this post were taken with it.

I'm still working on how to best get the light bouncing around to illuminate undercuts.  These figs were also photographed in the light box and you can see where there are still shadoes.

Not perfect, but it's made my pictures alot better.

This looks like what i'm after, it doesn't have to be top quality, i'll buy a professional one when my painting is good enough to warrant it lol

The Ali Express item looks identical to the one in Amazon at £22 but it is only 24 cm cube whereas mine is 31cm cube.

That was my thought exactly when it was recommended to me.  Now I might never buy another one.  That the total cost was about the price of shipping is a big bonus.
