Ancient Chinese - plastics
« on: 03 June 2009, 08:11:15 PM »
Hi all,
For the third time I have decided on what will be my final large project . Final? no, I'm not dying or anything - at least I hope I'm not!  :o Anyway - I have piles of stuff and storage is a problem, and I have settled on one last grand project. The first was ECW - satisfied by a handful of pike and shot; the second was Ottomans - done: 15mm Venexia Ottomans and Venetians as opponents, to boot. Really lovely models. The third, and current: ancient Chinese. I am not being to specific here, as my choice will depend on what is available. I prefer 28mm for these chaps, and plastic is the only way if I have to get a large-ish force (that's around 100 models for me, yes, I know, not at all immense; still, it's all I can manage). So - where do I look, please? I have to admit a slight preference for yellow turbans, by the way - especially after seeing the start of the 1995 version of [wiki]San guo yan yi[/wiki]

As soon as you find some plastic 28mm Chinese from any period upto the 1930's please let me know.

I have models from 1500BC through to WWII from many different manufacturers. My yellow turbans are Curteys which are reasonably inexpensive but the sculpting style is not to everyones taste. Plenty in the GW Art of War book.

The Renegade regiments are as cheap as plastics if you like the sculpts.

Plenty of options in 1/72nd plastic (polystyrene)

Will do Svenn - if they exist.
Thanks for the metal tips - I'll look into these.
1:72 - I know, but I wanted 28s this time round :( But if I don;t succeed I may look into these - I'm very happy with my box of Zvezda Samurai.

Another cheap option for metals is the TAG deals that Dave Thomas is selling on ebay. Sui & Sung, search Chinese in Wargames & Roleplaying.
