The Chaco War?
« on: 27 October 2021, 08:04:57 PM »
I find I’m getting deep into the Chaco War in 15mm.  I’m using Khurasan minis for infantry and Gaming Models for a few vehicles.  Fascinating conflict!

It is a very interesting conflict. Wish someone made a decent line in 28.

Orinoco do a small range in 28mm. Whether you consider them decent or not is a matter of personal taste.

For some reason the Chaco War is always cited as the first use of tanks in South America. It's a persistent old saw but untrue. Tanks were used in Brazil during the Paulista War in 1932, both FT-17s and a few home made ones on the Paulista side.

In a perfect world someone would do ranges for the Leticia War and the Peru-Ecuador conflict of 1941. That’s got some real exotica attached.

Carlos,
Do you have any idea how to model one of the Fortines used by both sides in the war?  I seem unable to find any decent picture.

There is a diagram in this old Chandelle article.

The Osprey title also has some photos of trenches and the inside of a machine gun post but probably not that useful.

I was hoping to hear more about comparison of Khurasan Chaco War figures to other ranges.

Speaking of the conflict, does anyone know of any good literature on it besides the Osprey title?

You are welcome!  Question … are you familiar with these two ranges?

Dan,
I sold the figures to Mike Taber (Historifigs), a couple months ago.  I’m not sure if he is on this forum.

There is also a new-ish Helion book that may be worth a read. My guess is it would be more detailed than the Osprey.

To Dan, no I don't know the 15mm range you'Ve linked. However the figures do look good, I would probably go for 28mm though as most of my vehicles and such are to a broad 28mm standard.

To Hang Tuah, I assume as much, I have yet to grab a Helion book, I have a few wishlisted as they seem to be promising reads, albeit with potential risk of motivating the pile of shame to grow in size and unpainted lead.
