Shutter Island
« on: 14 June 2009, 11:22:55 AM »
Hey guys,

Just saw this trailer. It seems to have a lot of elements and atmosphere of a nice Call of Cthulhu adventure. I really like the setting, the fact it takes places in the first half of the twentieth century and that is has lots of excellent actors. Can't wait!

And for people who don't have quicktime:

“What use was time to those who'd soon achieve Digital Immortality?”

it does indeed look worth a watch
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....

looks good. i don't think Leonardo is the right actor for the part, Dennis quaid comes to mind as a good actor for the investigator, i dont think De' Caprio has enough beef on him or facial hair.  :D

I've just recieved the book (unfortunately a German translation - oh well). Man, that's creepy.

As for Mr. Di Caprio - I have long since forgiven his Titanic and The Beach acting and can actually appreciate him as a very talented actor. I agree, however, that he might be a little too young to have been a major in WW II and look like this in the mid 1950s. Still the trailor/book both feel like getting into them a little.

I too am growing more appreciative of Mr DiCaprio's acting talent, a far cry from the hideous sproutfaced git-boy he used to be.

Also, I don't know about him being too young for this part. Look at Audie Murphy, after all. (ok, he only made lieutenant, but you get my point.) It would probably help if diCaprio could grow a proper beard instead of the wispy wrongness he normally has. Would make him look older, at least.
