Nice idea Dan, Wouldn't one plan the colony ship as to being the main habitat for the colonist in the first place rather then having them to build a colony at first land fall.

So the colony ship lands, from within it drills a water well, then a geothermal heating and cooling well to save power on the ship, then they erect solar panels and wind turbines, really everything they need for general living would be on the ship. Farming equipment and construction equipment could be in the storage holds, the storage holds could then be used for addition living space for the colonist and crew.

This has me thinking of a nice project for later, I'll have to put on paper before I forget.

There's a few episodes of Enterprise, one were they find an abandoned colony, where the colony ship was stripped down to make houses, later a alternate reality episode where Earth was destroyed and the survivors converted their transports into a refugee camp.

Tents!  Lightweight to carry.....versatile for any colonist ( and the odd prefab)

Front view.  Pringles tubes, string and wet PVA infused tissue plus a few bits from the bits box to represent airlock / environmental atmospheric scrubbing etc.  I got carried away with the casting once I made a mould....
1st look, thought they were all exactly the same and not all scratchbuilt.
Then you talk of Pringles and thinking "damn he made them all the same"
Glad you said you cast em. LOL

Anyway, again you say Pringles. From the pics they seem to be bigger than standard Pringles cans.
But i love em.
Would love to see more closeup pics if possible.

Adobe shanties.
Mostly scratch built, cardboard. Needing to make more walls, which I'm working on.

What material(s) did you use for the adobe walls?

A few years ago I spent a lot of time creating a tables worth of 15mm buildings. For each building I did two or three roofs. Originally I started with adobe which was easy enough. Most also got a sci-fi variant which was a mix of styles but essentially Mos Eisley. Then I did a ruined roof for many of them and some more heavily ruined building to go with them. If you do this make sure you know which roof goes with which building or you will drive yourself mad very quickly.
